Here’s everything you need to know about VALORANT’s newest Agent - Tejo, from his abilities, release date and his impact on the game’s meta.
Who Is Tejo?
Tejo, the 27th Agent in VALORANT, hails from Colombia and brings a high-tech military arsenal to the game. As an Initiator, his abilities feature cutting-edge tools like drones, specialized grenades, and a devastating airstrike, making him a force to be reckoned with on the battlefield
His codename, Terra, is a nod to the traditional Colombian game of the same name, which involves throwing discs at explosives. This cultural reference aligns with his gameplay style, focusing on precision and controlled detonation.
Valorant New Agent Tejo Rlease Date
Tejo will officially join VALORANT’s roster on January 8, 2025, with the launch of Season 2025 Act I. Players can unlock him immediately by progressing through his ten-tier Agent contract, which includes unique cosmetics and rewards

Tejo’s kit revolves around guided strikes, reconnaissance, and explosive utility. Here’s a breakdown of his abilities:

Is Tejo Overpowered? How Will Tejo Impact the VALORANT Meta?
Tejo’s abilities bring a unique mix of information gathering and aggressive utility. His Stealth Drone not only reveals enemies but also suppresses them, allowing him to capitalize on the intel immediately. Similarly, his Guided Salvo provides a proactive way to take space and pressure opponents, reducing the need for perfect team coordination. What's more, his Skill E: Guided Salvo extremely counters KillJoy's Ultimate. Tejo can destory KillJoy's Ult Device by clickling your mouse on the map.
Personal Thoughts on the Valorant New Agent "Tejo"
In our conventional understanding of Initiators, there are "blinding" types (flash-based Initiators) and "recon" types (information-based Initiators). However, the new Agent only has a single non-renewable drone, and at best, a "daze" effect that serves as a secondary alternative to flashes.
This means the new Agent lacks both effective crowd control and consistent/reliable information-gathering abilities. In other words, their utility to the team is far less efficient compared to flash-based or recon-based Initiators. But this doesn’t mean the new Agent isn’t strong. To compensate for this "fragile" and "suboptimal" skill set, the designers have ramped up the strength of their abilities to ensure they're far from "underpowered."
Highlights of the New Agent's Abilities:
- High-risk, high-reward drone
Despite the single-use nature of their drone, it comes with immense benefits: a vision range greater than Fade’s Dog, detection range nearly on par with Sova’s Recon, a suppression effect similar to KAY/O’s Knife.
- Damage-dealing utility with pinpoint accuracy
This Agent boasts the game’s only damage-dealing utility that doesn’t require lineup precision. They can deploy two damaging tools simultaneously, each dealing 70x3 damage, with guaranteed impact due to fixed placement.
- A versatile, powerful ultimate
Their ultimate resembles Raze's Skill E concept, offering consistent narrow-path coverage, high-damage large-area clearing, and the ability to neutralize both enemies and utilities in tight spaces.
- A New Type of Initiator
This Agent introduces a fresh playstyle for Initiators: unreliable and one-time-use information gathering, weak crowd control, and no exceptional anti-utility capabilities. However, thanks to their overpowered skill set, they can easily flush enemies out of most site corners and cover.
- Skills that deal guaranteed damage without requiring lineups
While this Agent's team utility might not seem apparent, their individual power level is undeniably striking. That said, their single drone limits their versatility as a solo recon Initiator, and their lack of flashes makes them suboptimal in dual-Initiator setups. Without reliable, frequent information-gathering or efficient control abilities, their "overpowered" nature might not feel as dominant as it initially seems. Still, it's clear that nerfs are inevitable—especially for their E ability.
Potential Nerfs
Currently, countering KJ's ultimate typically requires using Sova’s ultimate Hunter’s Fury, or memorizing tricky lineup locations for certain abilities. In contrast, this Agent’s E ability feels outright unfair—it consistently clears ultimates with a 40-second cooldown and requires zero lineup knowledge. It’s no surprise this has drawn criticism from players.
- Damage Reduction
One potential nerf is reducing E’s damage by 10 points, making it just shy of being able to destroy KJ’s Lockdown (assuming damage stacking isn’t possible). A more drastic option could be to reduce the ability’s damage to utilities overall.
- Hitbox Adjustment
While the deployment method is unlikely to change, the hitbox for E might be adjusted to require more precision. As for the drone, it’s still too early to judge. Its effectiveness will vary significantly across different skill levels, and the actual utility of its stealth remains uncertain. While strong, it’s the Agent’s only tool for fulfilling a "standard Initiator" role, meaning the risks involved are already quite substantial. A likely nerf could reduce its effective range, increase its audible cues, or expand the radius where enemies can detect it during stealth. However, it’s doubtful the core mechanics of the drone will undergo significant changes.

Conclusion
This new Agent - Tejo’s release marks an exciting addition to the Initiator role, with a skill set that balances high risks with high rewards. How they’ll settle into the meta remains to be seen, but one thing is for sure— his kill E: Guided Salvo is highly likely to be nerfed.
