Infinity Nikki Dye System Explained

Most gacha games have players collect attractive or strong characters, and limit customization or personalization to their weapons, abilities, or buffs. However, Infinity Nikki is a unique case, since the game features a clothing-based gacha system. This ensures that the primary gameplay loop revolves around finding the best-looking outfits, though their abilities are a nice plus. Pair that with the dye system version 1.5 introduced, and creativity is now key.

What is the dye system in Infinity Nikki?

The DIY Workshop in Infinity Nikki.

The dye system in Infinity Nikki lets players customize their outfits and hair, apply customizable patterns to create new designs, and play around with the special effect colors. While unlocking new colors takes a fair bit of grinding, LootBar helps ensure players get into the brunt of the dye system fast.

Previously, players had to stick with whatever default color the outfits they got had. This means if you got a blue dress with a design you liked, you’d have no choice but to wear it, even if you didn’t like the default blue color. That isn’t the case anymore, as the dye system introduces a personalization aspect.

♦Where do you access the dye system in Infinity Nikki?

Accessing the dye system is fairly straightforward, as players just have to open the DIY Workshop. There are two ways to do this:

  • The first is by pressing the DIY Workshop button from the Pear-Pal menu
  • The second is by interacting with the dye button while on the wardrobe screen. The button looks like a color palette, so it should be easily recognizable

The DIY Workshop looks very familiar to the default wardrobe with some key differences. For example, while the left side of the screen has the usual redo and undo buttons, there are some new additions too. From top to bottom, the list below goes through what every button on the left side of the DIY Workshop does.

  • Changes the time of day
  • Undo
  • Redo
  • Erases all changes
  • Share button
  • Import
  • Wardrobe

The right side of the DIY Workshop is largely the same as the usual wardrobe. Players can choose between customizing entire outfits, set pieces, or Nikki’s hair when paired with an outfit. The workshop also has a nifty batch save icon that lets players save multiple edits simultaneously. For example, if you change multiple hair options and tops, then pressing this button will save all those changes together. This option can be deselected whenever.

How does the dye system in Infinity Nikki work?

The dyeing system is essentially divided into two segments. The first covers Nikki’s various hairstyles, while the second goes through clothing pieces. Fortunately, players can save up to seven presets for every individual customizable piece for easy access. The presets can also be accessed from the wardrobe, ensuring there’s no need to constantly go to the DIY Workshop.

♦Dyeing hair in Infinity Nikki

Dyeing any hairstyle in Infinity Nikki isn’t too hard. Select the hair you want to customize from the DIY Workshop, then interact with the “Dye” option on the bottom right of the screen. This will take you to the dye screen where you can choose between multiple unlocked palettes.

Dyeing hair in Infinity Nikki is much easier than dyeing clothing pieces, since hairstyles usually only have one area to customize. Some hairstyles have two areas, but that’s usually the maximum number.

In addition to customizing the hair color, players can interact with the “Glossiness” bar at the bottom to adjust how glossy the hair looks. The higher the number, the shinier the hair will look and vice versa.

♦Dyeing clothing pieces in Infinity Nikki

Dyeing clothing pieces in Infinity Nikki is significantly harder than dyeing hairstyles. When you select a dress and press the dye option, you’ll notice there will be multiple areas you can choose from. This is because every dress has multiple customizable areas, and selecting one area doesn’t affect the rest of the dress.

While this is excellent for players who want to specifically customize their dresses in detail, it can also get confusing. Those who want to change the entire dress’s color can just press the “Select All” option and choose the color they want. Alternatively, the multiselect tool lets you choose multiple areas without affecting the others. Naturally, you can select individual pieces instead of customizing the entire dress. This helps make dyeing the parts you want easier.

How do you unlock more color palettes in Infinity Nikki?

The dye system in Infinity Nikki utilizes multiple palettes with eight individual colors that are grouped. Six color palettes are automatically unlocked when players unlock an outfit, alongside two colors for each palette. Once a palette is unlocked, players can use a certain amount of Dye Materials to access more colors, though that doesn’t apply to individual palettes.

The rest of the palettes must be unlocked by completing the outfit, reaching higher evolutions, or glowing it up. The steps required to unlock new palettes depend on the outfit’s rarity.

  • Completing a three-star outfit unlocks three palettes, while getting it glowed up unlocks an additional palette
  • Completing a four-star outfit unlocks three palettes, while reaching its first evolution unlocks four additional palettes
  • Completing a five-star outfit unlocks three palettes. Reaching the first evolution unlocks four palettes, while the second evolution gives players access to five additional palettes. The third evolution unlocks the custom color palette

Evolving four and five-star outfits also reduces the amount of Dye Materials required to unlock palettes by 50%. Any extra material used before the evolution is refunded to the player, giving an extra incentive to evolve outfits.

♦How do you get custom colors in Infinity Nikki?

Five-star outfits also have a unique “Custom Colors” palette that unlocks after reaching the third evolution and unlocking every other palette. This palette is unrestricted, and players can customize their preferred colors for dyeing. They can mix and merge colors and shades, even if they aren’t available in any default color palettes for that outfit. Getting to the third evolution for any outfit is easier said than done, so infinity nikki top up may be a good idea to streamline the process.

How do you share dyed outfits in Infinity Nikki?

Infinity Nikki lets players personalize their favorite outfits and makes sharing their favorite outfits easier. In addition to the seven customizable preset schemes, players can also share or import their favorite designs.

Interacting with the share icon on the left side of the DIY Workshop screen lets players crop the image to ensure they share what they want others to see. Then, there are two options. The first is uploading the scheme to the Color Lookbook, which is located on the Dream Star Isles. Through it, players worldwide can share outfits others have created, and even import them if they want.

Then, there’s the share option. Pressing the share option generates a share code that other players can use to import your dyed outfit. Alternatively, there’s also the option to create a QR code that other players can scan.

Finally, the DIY Workshop also gives players the option to import presets. The option is found just under the share option, and players can either scan a QR code or enter a share code to import outfits that other players create.

Conclusion

All in all, the dye system in Infinity Nikki was a much-needed feature, especially considering the game puts creativity and imagination at the forefront. Although unlocking additional palettes may require players to put in some work, LootBar can make the entire process much easier, allowing you to let your creative juices flow as soon as possible. As new palettes and appearances are expected to come out in the future, players can’t wait to see how far their creativity takes them.
