Jessie is a complicated and important brawler in the game of Brawl Stars. Today I'm going to walk you through some of the main aspects of Jessie, in hope that you can use this information to your advantage in the near future. I will discuss Jessie's turret, her ricocheting shot, her build, and more. Before diving into Jessie’s strategic playstyle, did you know you can enhance your Brawl Stars experience with exclusive gems and skins? The Power of Jessie’s Turret
Jessie herself is an average brawler at best, but with her turret (her super) she completely transforms into a powerful and complicated figure. While a lot of brawlers require skill to play them at their best, I find that with Jessie, strategy and knowledge are just as important and maybe even more.
When it comes to game modes like Heist, positioning of the turret is everything. If placed in the right spot, it can be a complete game changer. I like to place it in a spot which gives the turret a clear view of the Heist safe while also making it difficult for enemy players to kill it.
If you're using the Star Power known as Energize, then it is also very important to place the turret in a place where you have a clear shot at your own turret, since Energize makes it so that you can restore health to your turret by shooting at it with your own shots.
It's worth noting that with her Hypercharge activated, not only does her turret have 50% more health, but it also deals 20% more damage. 20% may not seem like a lot, but when that turret is placed next to the Heist safe, it can take all the health out of the safe so quickly with its rapid-fire shots. This is why Jessie is considered a top pick for Heist among the Brawl Stars community. Not only is Jessie powerful, but her turret is too.
Ricocheting Shots: Multi-Target Potential
Although Jessie's shots are slow, they are not to be taken for granted. When Jessie hits a target with a shot, it ricochets and starts traveling to the next nearest target. This fact may seem incredibly unfair, seeing as Jessie would be dealing so much damage, but there's other information you need to know.
Every time one of Jessie's shots ricochets, it deals less damage than it did on the previous hit. For example: Jessie may hit someone with a shot and deal 1000 damage, and it ricochets and hits another target, but this time it only deals 500 damage (keep in mind those proportions were just for example and not realistic statistics).
Although it does not do as much damage as it may seem, it is still incredibly useful in certain scenarios and maps. Jessie can't deal massive damage to multiple brawlers with one shot, but she can finish off kills with the one shot, and this makes Jessie a unique brawler.
Counters to Jessie
Up until this point I've mainly discussed the upside of using Jessie. Keep in mind no brawler is perfect, so here are some things to look out for when using Jessie:
1. Long-range brawlers
Long-range brawlers, especially ones with a longer range than Jessie herself, can be deadly. Brawlers like Piper, Angelo, and Brock often take out Jessie very easily due to the fact that they outrange her. We've established that Jessie is very good with area control, but when it comes to long-range brawlers, that's not of much use, so it's best to avoid using Jessie against snipers.
2. Fast, agile brawlers
Jessie's shot speed is one of the slowest that the game has. When Jessie takes shots at fast, agile brawlers like Leon, Edgar, and Mortis, often what happens is the brawler being shot at will be able to dodge Jessie's incredibly slow attack, since they have plenty of time to do so. After one of these speedy brawlers dodges Jessie's shots, all that's left to do is rush in and take out Jessie.
Optimal Build: Gadgets, Star Powers, and Gears
Each brawler has the option to use one Star Power, one Gadget, and two Gears. Additionally, Jessie also has the option to use her Hypercharge, but that's not what we're discussing now. I'm going to walk you through the basic build used by many players, including myself, and explain the best way to use them.
Recoil Spring is, in my opinion, the better of Jessie's two gadget options. As we discussed before, Jessie's turret is a huge part of her game as a whole. Recoil Spring is a gadget that, when activated, doubles the speed of the turret's shots. This can be incredibly useful in a game mode like Heist, where getting tons of shots off really fast can be really helpful. Not only is it an incredible gadget, but the cooldown to use said gadget is only eleven seconds! Although it's an incredibly low cooldown time, it doesn't make as much of a difference as you may think, seeing that Jessie most likely won't be getting her turret every eleven seconds.
Moving on to the Star Power, I find Energize to be the best option for Jessie. Energize allows Jessie to shoot at her own turret and repair 636 of the health on the turret per shot. This is an outstanding feature, due to the fact that Jessie can keep shooting at her turret to keep it alive and stable. This is an extremely important aspect of Jessie, like we mentioned before with Jessie's turret in paragraph #1.
When it comes to gears on all brawlers, including Jessie, a lot of controversy arises. While the standard gears for most brawlers are Shield Gear and Damage Gear, many like to argue and say that other gears come in handier and deliver a better outcome. I prefer to take the standard approach and use the Shield and Damage Gear, but feel free to experiment with others and see what works for you.
It's important to note that Jessie has a gear in the Epic section which most brawlers don't. The gear I'm talking about is called Pet Power. It makes Jessie's turret deal 25% more damage. Although I like to take a standard approach to gears on most brawlers, I find myself using Pet Power often.
Final Thoughts
On the surface Jessie may seem like a straightforward brawler, but I've done my best to not only explain the depth that a brawler like Jessie has, but to also show you how to use her depth to your advantage.Ready to put these Jessie strategies to the test?
