Azur Lane Guide to Academy - Different Buildings Explained

The Academy is an eminent part of the game as it comprises the various buildings that help in strengthening the fleet of your ships, which will be deployed in the battle. The resources used in the fleet operations are generated from several academy buildings, which serve as fuel and also enhance the abilities of your ships and improve the necessary equipment used in the course of battle, along with your favourite skins.

Therefore, to make an undefeatable fleet, you must pay great attention to upgrading these buildings as far as possible and improvise every aspect of your fleet’s capabilities, be it the ships' EXP level, the ships' combat styles and ammunition, or the ships’ morale. You can even customize your ships and use your favourite skins to decorate them. So why wait? Make Azur Lane top up from LootBar to get these skins and dive into the various building mechanics now!

Lecture Hall: The EXP Distributor

The Lecture Hall unlocks at commander level 50, and here, you can train your ships to increase their EXP level.

During the battle, the level 100+ ships gain EXP and a percentage of this EXP is stored in the form of proficiency in the Lecture Halls. The proficiency is then converted by the Lecture Hall into T1 EXP Data Packs of 3000 XP each over time at a 1:1 rate of Proficiency: EXP. These T1 EXP Data packs are then distributed to the ships that are placed inside the Lecture Hall, with each ship receiving EXP proportional to the time it is being placed in the Lecture Hall.

The Lecture Hall can be upgraded to a maximum level of 12, and with each upgraded level, the proficiency which is gained from the 100+ level ships in battle increases, as well as the total storage limit of proficiency and also the proficiency to EXP conversion rate. A maximum proficiency gain of 22% can be achieved at the maxed Lecture Hall.

Tactical Class

The Tactical Class unlocks at Commander level 3, and here the ships can be trained to increase their skills. This requires a ship to be trained and a Skill book to choose the skill to be trained.

Skills of Ships can be trained anytime, regardless of the ship being in battle or on a commission, and along with that, a skill book will be consumed.

Each skill book provides a fixed number of EXP points according to its level. The no. of EXP points will be increased by 50% for selecting a skill book of the same type or colour as the skill that is being trained.

Training a skill can be cancelled while in progress, although this still results in the consumption of the skill book, and the skills trained are proportional to the time the training has been in progress.

Initially, 2 slots are available to train your ships; however, 2 more can be unlocked with the 3rd costing 500 and the fourth costing 600.

Any excess experiences that will be gained from the books will be carried over to the next level. For example, if a skill requires 100 EXP to level up to 2 and you use a skill book that has 150 EXP, 50 EXP progress will already be filled at level 2.

Munition

The Munition unlocks at Commander level 3 and is a shop where you can buy Tech Packs, Skill Boosts, Wisdom Cubes, Quick Finishers, and upgrade parts of your ships. On clicking the Munition building, it leads to the Munition menu, which consists of 5 to 8 shops overall: Guild Shop, Prototype Shop, Core Data Exchange, Merit Shop, General Shop, and up to three extra shops for time-limited events.

Guild Shop: In the Guild shop, Guild tokens can be exchanged for various items, including T4 upgrade parts, premium food, Cat Boxes, Shipgirls, and Skillbooks.

Prototype Shop: You can exchange a variety of goods in the prototype shop with two different currencies-

  • Specialized Cores: With this currency, you can purchase UR Bulins, Sparkling Microphone and the Warrior’s Prowess.
  • Prototype Cores: The PR and DR prints, as well as prints for Research exclusive gear, can be purchased with this currency.

Core Data Exchange: In this shop, the core data gained through Hard Mode sorties can be exchanged for special rewards, including special equipment, Cognitive Chips and Arrays, and Tech Packs.

Merchant - The Coin Collector

The Merchant unlocks at Commander level 3 and is the building that generates Coins, which are stored there to their maximum capacity and can be collected anytime when Coins are available.

When enough coins are generated and are sufficient for collection, a bubble with the resource’s icon will appear over the buildings. Once collected, the Coins are added to the Coins collection. Also, you can collect a maximum of 600,000 Coins from the Merchant, which is the current maxed limit of coin storage inside the Merchant.

Canteen - The Oil Drill

The Canteen unlocks at Commander level 3 and is the building that generates Oil and stores it to its maximum capacity. This oil can be collected anytime when enough oil is mined.

The Oil can be collected by tapping on the bubble over the Canteen, the same as in the case of the Merchant with Coins. The Oil is then transferred to the main Oil Storage collection. A maximum of 25,000 Oil can be collected, which is the maxed capacity of oil storage in the Canteen.

Medallion

The Medallion unlocks at Commander level 3 and is the place that stores all your medals and the records of your achievements in battles.

There are two types of medals earned in Azur Lane - Regular medals, which can be achieved when their respective requirements are met, and Limited edition medals, which can only be obtained by completing a limited-time event mission.

The medals you earn will be displayed on your Azur Lane profile.

Cattery

The Cattery unlocks at Commander level 40 and is a living quarter for your Meowfficers. The Meowfficers are companions that strengthen your fleet by providing skills and additional abilities to your fleet at no Oil cost. They can be obtained from the cattery, each costing 1500 coins, as well as from the event shops. They can be trained by being assigned to fleets in the course of battle. Also, Meowfficers can be consumed by other Meowfficers for EXP.

Conclusion

This was all about the different buildings of the Azur Lane Academy. If you want to strengthen your fleet, then you must have a powerful academy that would help your fleet in battle. Also, remember to max out your Canteen and Merchant as early as possible, as the Coins and Oils produced by them will be crucial resources that will be used everywhere in the game.
