  • Manato Overview

Manato is an A-Rank Fire Rupture DPS character who uses a special stat—Sheer Force to deal DMG that completely ignores the target's DEF stat. Sheer Force is gained mainly through the conversion of the HP stat and a small fraction of the ATK stat. This means that a well-built Manato has a lot of HP, which increases his survivability a lot in combat. Onto his kit, he relies heavily on the Molten Edge state to deal consistent DMG, as his Basic Attacks are enhanced to deal Fire DMG during the state. He can enter it by accumilating enough Blazing Heart points through the use of Special Attack and Defensive Assist, though keep in mind that using Special Attack will drain his HP. Not just that, during the Molten Edge state, Manato's attacks drain his HP as well as his Blazing Heart points, causing him to almost always be in low health. This high-risk, high-reward playstyle is what makes Manato stand out as a strong but skill-demanding character.

Manato Overview

Manato Skill Priority

Below are the best skill priorities for Manato:

SkillPriority
Core Skill Core Skill★★★★★ (Top)
Basic Attack Basic Attack★★★ (High)
Chain Attack Chain Attack★★★★ (Top)
Special Attack Special Attack★★★ (High)
Dodge Dodge (Low)
Assist Assist★★★★ (Top)

Manato's Core Skill increases his Crit DMG by 50% and Fire DMG by 20% at max level, such amazing upgrades explain why it's placed at the top in the priority list. His Assist and Chain Attack come next, as they contribute a lot to his overall DMG. Right below them are Special Attack and Basic Attack, they're great, but not to the extent of the aforementioned skills. Manato's Dodge doesn't have much use in combat, as he benefits more from blocking enemy attacks with Special Attack rather than dodging them.

Manato Best W-Engines

As a Rupture character, Manato wants as much HP, Crit Rate and Crit DMG as possible. Any Rupture W-Engine providing those stats will be able to work with him. His Signature W-Engine—Grill O'Wisp is, unsurprisingly, his best option, providing additional Fire DMG and Crit Rate with activation conditions tied to his kit. We recommend you secure this W-Engine if you wish to maximise his potential.

Manato Best Teams

Manato performs best when he's played in a hypercarry composition, which means he'll be paired with 2 supporting characters.

1. Manato Premium Teams

Dialyn and Ju Fufu synergize amazingly with Manato, delivering consistent Daze and providing powerful buffs while requiring next to no field time, allowing Manato to stay on-field uninterrupted. Trigger is a pretty special case, as she doesn't have her Additional Core Ability activated in Rupture teams, but she's still strong enough to make it work nonetheless. As for Lucia, there's nothing much to say, she's the best Support in the game for Rupture characters.

Pan Yinhu is currently the best free Rupture Support, providing amazing value for a free character. Pulchra and Koleda are great Stun characters who also work really well with Manato.

Manato Mindscape Cinema

Manato Mindscape

M1: Drifter's Rules of Survival
  • Rating: ★★★ (Good)
  • Effect: As Manato's HP decreases, his HP lost is accumulated. Each 1% of his Max HP accumulated increases the Fire DMG of Assist Follow-Ups and Basic Attacks by 0.4%, up to a max of 20%.
  • This Mindscape provides Manato with additional DMG on his Assist Follow-Ups and Basic Attacks by up to 20%, not bad but not too good either. However, the great thing about it is that it doesn't have a duration, which means you can have it active at all time as long as you meet its condition.
M2: Day & Night, Kitchen & Love
  • Rating: ★★★★ (Great)
  • Effect: While in the Molten Edge state, Manato ignores 8% of a target's Fire RES. After being hit by an enemy while using Special Attack: Return to Ashes or Special Attack: Return to Ashes - Sacrifice, press Normal Attack to trigger an Assist Follow-Up.
  • Manato's Mindscape 2 might sound pretty average at first, but it actually changes Manato's gameplay by a lot for the better. Rather than having to switch in using a Perfect Assist to activate Assist Follow-Up, Manato can now activate it on-field by blocking hits with his Special Attack. Not only does it allow for a more aggressive playstyle, but it also increases his DMG output a lot thanks to the easier activation of Assist Follow-Up.
M3: Enter the Realm of Urban Legends
  • Rating: ★★ (Good)
  • Effect: Basic Attack, Assist, Dodge, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2
  • Although this Mindscape only offers numerical skill level increases, it gives Manato a considerable increase in his overall DMG.
M4: Childhood Oath
  • Rating: ★★ (Good)
  • Effect: Max HP increases by 8%. During Special Attack: Return to Ashes and Special Attack: Return to Ashes - Sacrifice, when Manato takes fatal DMG, he remains in battle, with his HP not dropping below 1.
  • This Mindscape doesn't matter much as its boost in HP is minimal, and its survivability buff is really situational. Nonetheless, it makes Manato's gameplay less risky.
M5: Lone Shadow Returns to the Pack
  • Rating: ★★ (Good)
  • Effect: Basic Attack, Assist, Dodge, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2
  • Identical to Manato's Mindscape 3, only offering numerical skill level increases but is a pretty good upgrade in practice.
M6: Beyond Dreams of the Past
  • Rating: ★★★★★ (Best)
  • Effect: When Special Attack: Return to Ashes hits a Stunned enemy, Manato gains 75 Blazing Heart and 4 stacks of Remnant Flame, and pressing Normal Attack will launch an Assist Follow-Up. This Remnant Flame effect can trigger once every 20s. When his Assist Follow-Up hits an enemy, Manato's Fire DMG increases by 3% for 8s, stacking up to 5 times. Repeated triggers reset the duration.
  • Manato's Mindscape 6 provides the biggest boost in his overall DMG. The new effects significantly improve his DMG during enemy stun windows.

Conclusion

Overall, Pan Yinhu is an amazing Rupture Agent in Zenless Zone Zero despite being a free character. Despite the release of many premium Rupture characters, he still remains a powerful DPS who can stand his ground. We hope this Pan Yinhu guide can provide you with better knowledge of his strengths, as well as help you maximize his potential.
