What are Drive Discs?
Drive Discs are equipable gear that improve an Agent’s combat performance. Each Drive Disc provides a partition-based main stat, upgradeable substats, and two or four-piece set effects. When leveled, Drive Discs increase an Agent’s damage, utility, or survivability.
Drive Discs Parts Breakdown
- Base Stats - The primary stat granted by a Drive Disc, determined by its partition, such as ATK%, CRIT Rate, Elemental DMG, Energy Regen, or Impact. This stat provides the largest direct contribution to an Agent’s performance.
- Random Stats - Additional random stats that unlock and scale as the Drive Disc is upgraded. These are called sub-stats and can be CRIT Rate, CRIT DMG, ATK%, Anomaly Profiency and more.
- Set Effect - A two-piece or four-piece bonus that activates when multiple Drive Discs from the same set are equipped, often defining the overall role or playstyle of the build.
Drive Disc Rarity and Stats
Drive Disc Rarity
Drive Discs come in three tiers: B-Rank, A-Rank, and S-Rank. Drive Disc rarity directly affects its stats, substats, and overall efficiency. Higher-rarity Drive Discs provide stronger main stats and allow substats to be upgraded more times. Higher rarity discs also require more upgrade materials and investment.
Simple Stat Comparison for Maxed Discs in Different Rarity
| Main Stat | |||
| Crit DMG | 16% | 32% | 48% |
| Sub Stats | |||
| Crit Rate | 0.8% ~ 1.6% | 1.6% ~ 6.4% | 2.4% ~ 14.4% |
| ATK% | 1% ~ 2% | 2% ~ 8% | 3% ~ 18% |
| Anomaly Proficiency | 3 ~ 6 | 6 ~ 24 | 9 ~ 54 |
Higher-rarity Drive Discs provide much stronger main stats, with S-Rank discs offering significantly higher values than A and B Rank
How Substat Scaling Works
Drive Disc substats have fixed base values, and every time a substat is upgraded, it increases by that same base amount. Because of this, the total value a substat can reach depends on how many enhancement stages are available for upgrades, which is determined by rarity.
B-Rank Drive Discs have a maximum level of 9 and can start with up to 2 substats. Since enhancement milestones at levels 3 and 6 are used to complete the four-substat requirement, a B-Rank disc has very limited opportunities to upgrade existing substats, resulting in a maximum of 2× its base value for any single substat.
A-Rank Drive Discs have a maximum level of 12 and can start with 3 to 4 substats. If an A-Rank disc starts with three substats, one enhancement stage is used to unlock the fourth, while the remaining stages can upgrade existing substats. This allows a single substat to reach up to 4× its base value.
S-Rank Drive Discs have a maximum level of 15 and can start with 3 or 4 substats. Because S-Rank discs can reach four substats early, most enhancement stages are spent upgrading existing stats, enabling a single substat to reach 6× its base value, the highest possible scaling.
Drive Disc Partitions and Set Effects
Drive Disc Partitions
Drive Discs are equipped with six different partitions, also known as slots, which surround an Agent’s W-Engine. Each Drive Disc is permanently locked to a specific partition, and this partition determines which main stats the disc can roll. Partitions 1, 2, and 3 have fixed main stats that never change. Partitions 4, 5, and 6 are where most of the build customization and RNG come from. Additionally, a Drive Disc’s main stat and substats cannot be the same.
Available Main Stats per Drive Disc Partition
| Partition | Possible Main Stats | |
| 1 | Flat HP | |
| 2 | Flat ATK | |
| 3 | Flat DEF | |
| 4 | HP%, ATK%, DEF%, CRIT Rate%, CRIT DMG%, Anomaly Proficiency | |
| 5 | HP%, ATK%, DEF%, PEN Ratio%, Fire DMG Bonus%, Physical DMG Bonus%, Ice DMG Bonus%, Electric DMG Bonus%, Ether DMG Bonus% | |
| 6 | HP%, ATK%, DEF%, Anomaly Mastery%, Impact%, Energy Regen% | |
Set Effects
Drive Disc sets provide powerful bonuses that activate when multiple pieces from the same set are equipped. A single drive disc set offers a two-piece and a four-piece effect. These effects can increase damage output, improve energy generation, enhance anomaly performance, or provide utility suited to different combat roles.
Set effects apply regardless of partition placement. A 2-piece + 2-piece + 2-piece setup can function and may be usable in specific situations, but it is generally less effective than focusing on a four-piece set paired with a two-piece set. Most Agents use the 4-piece + 2-piece set, which provides stronger effects and more impactful bonuses.
How to Level Up Drive Discs?
Leveling a Drive Disc increases its main stat value and unlocks or upgrades substats, directly improving an Agent’s damage, utility, or survivability. This process uses dedicated Drive Disc enhancement materials obtained through gameplay, events, and dismantling unused discs. While leveling increases stats, a Drive Disc’s maximum level is limited by its rarity.
Materials Required to Level Up Drive Discs
Plating Agent – XP materials.
Dennies – Currency
To level up a Drive Disc, open the Drive Disc menu from an Agent’s equipment screen and select the disc you want to enhance. Add Drive Disc EXP materials to provide experience, then confirm the upgrade. The Drive Disc will increase in level, gaining new substats or upgrading existing ones at every three-level milestone, until it reaches its maximum level for its rarity.
How to Obtain Drive Discs?
Drive Discs can be obtained through several in-game activities as Proxies progress through Zenless Zone Zero. Early on, Drive Discs are mainly acquired as rewards, while targeted farming and tuning options unlock later.
Early - Game Sources
In the early stages of the game, Drive Discs are primarily earned through:
Main story progression and side commissions
Officer Mimi–related quests and side content
Various exploration and activity rewards
These sources mostly provide B-Rank Drive Discs, which are sufficient for completing early content and activating basic set bonuses.
Area Patrol
Area is the main farming method for Drive Discs. Completing these stages rewards Drive Discs from 2 specific sets, making it the primary way to target desired sets. As your Proxy level increases, Area Patrol begins to drop A-Rank and S-Rank Drive Discs, making it the core source for long-term optimization.
Bardic Needle (Music Store)
Bardic Needle is a music store where Proxies use HI-FI Master Copies to obtain Drive Discs. It unlocks after finishing Belobog Industries' main story and is located at the front of Random Play (Proxies' Video Store).
How to Tune Drive Discs?
Tuning is a system at Bardic Needle that creates Drive Discs using HI-FI Master Copies. It allows Proxies to generate Drive Discs from a selected set, with stat results determined by the tuning option used. There are two tuning types available: Tuning and Advanced Tuning, each offering a different level of control over main stats and substats.
Tuning
Standard Tuning generates Drive Discs with random main stats and substats. Proxies can select the Drive Disc set, but all stat outcomes are fully randomized.
To tune a Drive Disc, go to Bardic Needles at Sixth Street. Choose the Drive Disc set you want to generate from, spend the required HI-FI Master Copies, and confirm the tuning. A Drive Disc from the selected set will be created with random main stats and substats.
Advanced Tuning
Advanced Tuning allows Proxies to generate Drive Discs with targeted stats. Depending on the tuning option selected, Proxies can choose a specific main stat, specific substats, or a combination of both, while still generating the disc from a selected Drive Disc set.
To perform Advanced Tuning, select the desired Drive Disc partition, then choose Orientation. A selection window will appear, allowing Proxies to choose which stat to target. After selecting the preferred stat, confirm by clicking the Tune Partition button. Selecting a main stat consumes a Tuning Calibrator, while selecting substats consumes a Resonating Core.
How to Dismantle Drive Discs
Dismantling Drive Discs allows Proxies to recycle unwanted pieces into useful resources instead of letting them clutter inventory. When a Drive Disc is dismantled, it returns HI-FI Master Copies based on its rarity and provides Drive Disc enhancement materials, which are used for tuning and leveling.
To dismantle a Drive Disc, open the Drive Disc menu from an Agent’s equipment screen or visit Bardic Needle. Select the Drive Discs you no longer need and confirm the dismantle action. Higher-rarity Drive Discs return higher-tier Master Copies.
Conslusion
Understanding how Drive Discs work is a key part of building strong Agents in Zenless Zone Zero. Choosing the right main stats, using set effects correctly, and knowing when to level, tune, or dismantle Drive Discs will help Proxies progress efficiently without wasting valuable resources.
