  • Anton Overview

Anton is an A-Rank Electric Attack character who specialises in dealing massive burst Electric DMG in combat. Although he normally only deals Physical DMG, he can change that by entering the Burst Mode—a special state in which his Basic AttackDodge Attack/Counter and Special Attack all become enhanced and deal Electric DMG instead, in exchange for his Energy being drained with every attack. He does this by performing an EX Special Attack. His gameplay revolves around maintaining this state as long as possible to deal consistent Electric DMG, mostly through his Basic Attacks, which are separated into 2 types, Piledriver, and Drill. His 2nd Drill Attack and 3rd Piledriver Attack can be extended by pressing repeatedly or holding the Basic Attack input. The special thing about Anton's kit is that he can re-trigger Shock (Electric Attribute Anomaly) every 4 Critical hits on an enemy inflicted by Shock, dealing 45% of its original DMG; with this, DMG potential skyrockets.

Anton Overview

Anton Skill Priority

Below are the best skill priorities for Anton:

SkillPriority
Core Skill Core Skill★★★★★ (Top)
Basic Attack Basic Attack★★★★ (Top)
Chain Attack Chain Attack★★★ (High)
Special Attack Special Attack★★★ (High)
Dodge Dodge (Low)
Assist Assist (Low)

Anton's Core Skill increases his Basic Attack's damage by 24% for Piledriver Attacks and 40% for Drill Attacks, making it highly valuable as Anton's main source of damage comes from Basic Attacks. Speaking of Basic Attack, it's the next on the priority list, offering great boosts in his overall DMG with every upgrade. His Chain Attack and Special Attack are placed in a secondary tier, offering solid benefits but not to the same extent as the previously mentioned skills. Lastly, his Dodge and Assist skill should only be upgraded once the higher-priority skills reach the recommended level as they contribute the least to his performance.

Anton Best W-Engines

As an Attack character, Anton wants as much ATK, Crit Rate and Crit DMG as possible. His simple kit means he isn’t dependent on specific stat thresholds, giving you a wider range of viable W-Engine options, though his playstyle might change depending on your choice of W-Engine. Despite not being his Signature W-Engine, Severed Innocence is generally the best option for Anton. We recommend you secure this W-Engine if you wish to maximise Anton's potential.

Anton Best Teams

Anton works best when he's paired with another member of Belobog Heavy Industries or an Electric character, especially one that can activate Shock consistently, as that's when his Additional Core Ability comes to play, triggering smaller Shocks every 4 critical hits, potentially increasing his overall DMG by a huge mile.

1. Anton Premium Teams

As an on-field DPS character, Anton wants as much field-time as possible, making characters who can provide value without having to stay on-field especially great for him. Trigger and Dialyn fit perfectly into this description, capable of dealing high Daze while also providing amazing team-wide buffs. Cissia and Qingyi are interesting choices for Anton, as they do require quite a lot of field-time, but still blend amazingly into his playstyle, breathing new life into Anton's gameplay. When it comes to Supports, Astra and Rina are powerful characters that can bring Anton's DPS to a different level with their buffs.

2. Anton Free To Play Teams

Anton's Free to Play teams are a little trickier to form, as not many free characters can complement his kit. Grace, despite being an Anomaly character, works surprisingly well with Anton thanks to her consistent Shock application, boosting Anton's DMG potential greatly, Rina can strengthen this interaction even further with her additional Electric Anomaly Buildup as well as team-wide Pen Ratio buffs. Anby and Nicole can work decently with Anton as well, though they're harder to play together since you would constantly have to interrupt Anton to refresh Nicole's debuff.

Anton Mindscape Cinema

Anton Mindscape Cinema

M1: Warm-up Exercises
  • Rating: ★★★★ (Great)
  • Effect: When Drill Attack hits an enemy, Anton gains additional Energy up to a maximum of 5 Energy per skill use.
  • This Mindscape helps Anton with Energy generation, allowing him to get into Burst mode quicker as well as stay in it for longer. The additional Energy might sound small but it adds up really quickly because of Anton's constant use of Basic Attack.
M2: State of Flow
  • Rating: ★★ (Good)
  • Effect: When Anton uses his EX Special Attack and enters Burst Mode, he gains a Shield that equals to 7.5% of his max HP. While in Burst Mode, entering combat or switching in reapplies the Shield effect. This effect can trigger once every 15s. The Shield dissipates when Burst Mode ends.
  • Anton's Mindscape 2 has no changes to his kit, rather, it's a survivability buff, the shields allow him to take more hits without going down. However, it's quite irrelevant once you're experienced enough to evade enemy attacks.
M3: Rotational Training
  • Rating: ★★ (Good)
  • Effect: Basic Attack, Assist, Dodge, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2
  • This Mindscape only offers numerical skill level increases but still provide a somewhat decent boost in Anton's DMG output.
M4: Everyone Get Fired Up!
  • Rating: ★★★ (Pretty Good)
  • Effect: When Anton uses a Chain Attack or Ultimate, all squad members' CRIT Rate increases by 10% for 12s.
  • The 10% team-wide Crit Rate buff from this Mindscape isn't too bad, but the relatively short duration and strict conditions limit it to being a situational buff.
M5: Jack of All Trades
  • Rating: ★★ (Good)
  • Effect: Basic Attack, Assist, Dodge, Special Attack, and Chain Attack Lv. +2
  • This Mindscape is identical to Anton's Mindscape 3, it only offers numerical skill level increases but a decent boost in his overall damage.
M6: Break the Limit
  • Rating: ★★★★★ (Best)
  • Effect: When Anton's Piledriver Attack triggers a critical hit, his Basic Attack: Enthusiastic Drills (Burst Mode) and Dodge Counter: Overload Drill (Burst Mode) deal 4% more DMG for 30s, stacking up to 6 times. Repeated triggers reset the duration.
  • Anton's best Mindscape, providing him with up to 24% more DMG for his Basic Attacks and Dodge Counters, significantly increasing his DMG output compared to his other Mindscapes.

Conclusion

Overall, Anton is a great Attack Agent in Zenless Zone Zero with a lot of damage potential for an A-Rank. When equipped with the right build and team setup, he'll be able to dish out amazing burst DMG. We hope this Anton guide can provide you with a better understanding of his strengths and help you get the most out of him.
