How Do You Play The Yum Corner Event?
The Yum Corner event, like all other events in Season 5, is in the Sealed Island menu on the right. Some players are confused about how to play because it’s not like other events in the game. Instead, the Yum Corner event is based on Mahjong Solitaire, where you have to match identical tiles. But, you can only match tiles from the layers that are currently in play.
It's much easier said than done, but there’s a trick to it which we’ll explain in a bit. Once you clear every single tile, you’ll clear that particular stage and move on to the next one. There are currently 16 stages out in the event, and all of them are graded “easy”. But, even these easy stages are turning out to be a little too challenging for some players. Still, it’s such a fun event and very worth investing time into since it gives amazing rewards without much grind.
Since the event is active throughout the entire season, it’s safe to assume there’s going to be more stages, which will probably have even harder difficulty. On the bright side, those stages should have even better rewards than the already good ones you get for clearing the “easy” stages.
The Trick To Clearing Stages Easily in Yum Corner
Just like in Mahjong Solitare, a great strategy is to focus on planning moves ahead instead of just clearing the pairs you see in front of you. Focus on matches that open up more tiles to pair or clear important blocks like long horizontal rows or high stacks. While you’re at it, be careful not to make any moves that could leave you with a single isolated tile which is impossible to pair.
Plan ahead by focusing on lower layers and opening up sections that let you pair isolated pieces on the top layer. And most importantly, pay attention to pairs of identical tiles that are on top of each other. Remove them ASAP to stop yourself from getting stuck. Two of the same tiles stacked together can lead to locking yourself out of a perfect clear so be careful to avoid any issues.
Special Items: They Make Levels Much Easier, But Avoid Using Them
There are three main special items that you can use during the Yum Corner stages. These include an undo power-up to get rid of your last turn, a hint power-up to know what the next best move is, and a shuffle power-up to shake up the tiles and give you different things to work with. Every single one of them is extremely useful of course, and makes levels easy to clear.
But, we seriously recommend not using any of these power ups. Using even a single item will ruin a “perfect clear”. Perfect clears are only possible if you clear the stage without using a single special item from start to finish. They give significantly better rewards. Speaking of which…
What Rewards Do You Get For Clearing Yum Corner Levels?
The exact rewards depend entirely on which stage you’re on. But, most of the time, regular clears will give you speed-ups, lots of coins, and lots of useful resources like Stone which is really helpful this season. All of these are good as it is already, but it gets even better if you manage to do a perfect clear.
A perfect clear in some levels will get you legendary rewards like Power Cores and Universal Exclusive Equipment Fragment, which can help you upgrade your best equipment.
