Wuthering Waves Negative Status Guide

In Wuthering Waves, Negative Statuses are more than simple debuffs — they are stack-based mechanics tied to each attribute, each with unique behaviors, scaling, and trigger conditions. Unlike traditional DoT systems, every status features its own stacking logic and secondary effects, making them a key part of advanced combat. In this guide, we’ll cover all six Negative Statuses and how they work. Read on!

What Are Negative Statuses?

Negative Statuses are stackable debuffs and effects that can be applied to both enemies and Resonators.

Key characteristics:

  • Most effects scale with stacks

  • Many trigger additional effects at max stacks

  • Damage is calculated based on the last character who applied the status

  • Some are DoT, while others modify combat behavior (e.g., slow, DEF reduction)

List of All Negative Statuses

Wuthering Waves currently has six Negative Status effects, each tied to an element: Spectro Frazzle, Havoc Bane, Fusion Burst, Glacio Chafe, Electro Flare, and Aero Erosion. These debuffs can be placed on enemies, but the system is not purely one-sided. In some situations, Resonators themselves can also be affected, which gives the whole mechanic a bit of risk-reward pressure instead of being a free damage bonus.

Spectro Frazzle

Some Spectro attacks apply a stackable Spectro Frazzle Effect to the target.

Tutorial_Combat_Spectro_Frazzle_Effect_I

While active, it deals periodic Spectro DMG, and each damage instance removes 1 stack. The damage scales with the number of stacks, meaning higher stacks result in greater damage.

Havoc Bane

Some Havoc attacks will apply a stackable Havoc Bane effect to the target. While Havoc Bane lasts, the DEF of the inflicted target is reduced.

Tourial Havoc Bane I

Havoc Bane stacks up to 3 times by default, with each stack reducing the target's DEF by 2%.

Tourial Havoc Bane II

Fusion Burst

Some Fusion attacks apply a stackable Fusion Burst Effect to the target. This effect can stack up to 10 times by default.

Tutorial_Combat_Fusion_Burst_Effect_I

When it reaches maximum stacks, all stacks are consumed to trigger an explosion, dealing significant Fusion DMG around the target. The higher the stacks, the greater the damage dealt.

Glacio Chafe

Some Glacio attacks will apply a stackable Glacio Chafe effect to the target. When Glacio Chafe is inflicted, the target receives Glacio DMG.

Glacio Chafe stacks up to 10 times by default. The higher the stacks, the more DMG dealt.

Each stack of Glacio Chafe effect reduces the target's Movement Speed

When it reaches maximum stacks, the target is frozen, and all stacks are removed.

Tourial Glacio CHafe Effect II

Aero Erosion

Some Aero attacks apply a stackable Aero Erosion Effect to the target.

Tutorial_Combat_Aero_Erosion_Effect_I

While active, it deals periodic Aero DMG, with the damage scaling based on the number of stacks.

Electro Flare

Some Electro attacks apply a stackable Electro Flare Effect to the target. While active, it deals periodic Electro DMG, and each trigger removes half of the current stacks. The effect can stack up to 10 times, with higher stacks resulting in greater damage.

Electro Flare I

When Electro Flare reaches maximum stacks, any additional stacks are converted into Electro Rage. Electro Rage further increases the damage of the next Electro Flare trigger and is consumed upon activation. Electro Rage can also stack up to 10 times, amplifying the final damage even more.

Conclusion

Negative Status is now one of the defining systems in Wuthering Waves' current meta. It gives modern teams a huge upside, but it also makes roster gaps way more punishing, especially when a DPS depends heavily on one premium applier to function at full power.

To fully prepare for future banners and strengthen your Negative Status teams, you can consider topping up Wuthering Waves through LootBar. It offers a safe and convenient way to secure Lunites at competitive prices, which is especially helpful if you're aiming for premium units like Phoebe or Ciaccona without overspending. Happy gaming!
