Recommended Priority: Marksman > Spearman > Shield
Gwen – The Gen 5 Marksman
Gwen is without doubt the highlight of this generation. She is the first Marksman who can directly target backline enemies, meaning every shot hits your opponent’s core damage dealers or supports.
Expedition: All three of her skills deal damage, with additional team-wide damage buffs. Her exclusive weapon adds a 15% penetration effect, making her lethal.
Arena & Adventure: Performs exceptionally well across modes thanks to her backline-sniping capability.
Bear Hunt: Currently the strongest offensive Marksman, lasting effectively until mid-Gen 7.
If Lynn is considered the best defensive Marksman, Gwen is undoubtedly the best offensive Marksman right now. For players with spare resources, investing in Gwen is highly recommended.
👉 Tip: Her exclusive weapon does not need to be maxed. For F2P, level 4–6 is sufficient since she will eventually be replaced by Gen 7 Marksman Bradley.
Nora – The Gen 5 Spearman
Nora is the opposite type compared to the Gen 4 Spearman. She shines in defense while also being highly valuable for expeditions.
Expedition Skills: Comes with two damage-boosting abilities, plus a flashbang skill that is surprisingly effective.
Defense: Provides a 15% defense boost when defending cities, making her a reliable wall.
Carhead Lineups: For players running Spear/Shield formations, Nora is practically a must-have.
If you don’t own Reina, Nora is a strong alternative. F2P players can pick her up without feeling pressured to max her weapon.
Hector – The Gen 5 Shield
For F2P players, Hector is an essential pickup. While not as universally handy as Ahmose in adventures, Hector’s kit balances offense and defense well.
Expedition: Early rounds (first 5 turns) are his damage peak, while later fights rely more on chance-based multipliers.
Defense: Reduces enemy output and carries a 15% siege attack boost through his weapon, which fits defensive roles better.
Bear Hunt: A reliable replacement for Gen 2 Shield Flint, especially if you lack Nemo or Natalia.
Think of Hector as the F2P backbone Shield for rallies and Bear Hunts.
Final Thoughts
Must-Haves for Everyone: Gwen (Marksman) and Hector (Shield).
Gwen replaces Lynn/Alonso as the premier offensive Marksman until Gen 7.
Hector is the new go-to rally Shield for F2P players, acting as Flint’s replacement.
Strong Recommendation: Nora (Spearman). Absolutely vital for carhead and traditional Spear/Shield lineups.
Investment Tip: Don’t over-invest in Gwen’s exclusive weapon, as her lifespan is only about 2.5 generations.
Overall, Gen 5 is a major upgrade for offensive playstyles, especially with Gwen leading the charge. If you’re looking to stay competitive, prioritize Marksman first, then Spearman, then Shield.
