What is the Fortress Battle
Fortress Battle in Whiteout Survival is an intense player vs player weekly event where alliances fight each other to claim their possession over 16 crucial buildings that include 12 fortresses and 4 strongholds. These battles span across an 8-week season and it becomes important that you keep your strategies and coordination in check for a successful victory. Each week, Alliances have to select one Fortress and one stronghold to fight for during the event.
Basic Rules of the Fortress battles
The Fortress Battle is divided into 2 phases - the Application phase and the combat phase. Further details about the phases are listed below:
Application Phase
This is the first stage of the event where alliances choose their fortress and Stronghold to attack. The normal number is 1 Fortress and 1 Stronghold while high rankers like R4 and R5 can apply for 1 additional Fortress and Stronghold each week. During this period, alliances have to select three preferred time slots out of five for battle. Moreover, Alliances will get automatically registered to defend any Fortresses that have been captured during the previous Phase of the same season. And if they manage to win all their battles till Phase 8, the number of defending Fortress can rise up to 8. For example:
- Week 1: Register for 1 SH and 1 F
- Week 2: Auto-registered for 1 SH and 2 F + can register for 1 SH and 1 F
- Week 3: Auto-registered for 2 SH and 2 Fortresses + can register for 1 SH and 1F.
As you can see, the number keeps increasing but the maximum number of Strongholds to defend is 4.
Battle Phase
The second stage of the event is the Battle Phase where alliance members get to fight for the control of the registered buildings. Keep in mind that the battle window is only 2 hours which opens every Friday right after your slot begins. In the battle phase, victory is achieved by either two ways:
- Keeping possession of the building for a continuous half an hour.
- At the end of the timer, you are the occupier of the structure.
You will notice that the Fortresses and Thresholds are being guarded by NPC troops called Phaethon. Defeating them is not that challenging and the real game only begins with the arrival of the other alliances.

- Picking Right Time Slots: It is important that you communicate thoroughly with the members and pick the right time slot for your battles that fit the timing for most of the active players.
- Use of the Right Heroes: Pick your heroes for rallies and occupations correctly as some of them provide major boosts to attack, defense or healing stats. - Rally Timing: Just before the event starts off, position yourself near the prime target buildings to pick up pace for your rallies and start attacking before other competitors.
