Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2 Operation Missions Guide - All Objectives & Rewards

Operations is the co-op game mode in Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, where you play alongside two other players, fighting enemies and improving your equipment.

It is the best way to receive rewards and get your hands on some great new armor upgrades for your favorite classes as you level them up. There are a total of 12 missions in the game. Every mission has its individual objective, enemy, and collectibles.

The higher you play the game, the higher the difficulty level you set, and the higher the rewards you receive at the end.

To begin your adventure and join the Emperor’s finest, you first need to get yourself a Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 Steam Key from LootBar.

How Operations Mode Works

To get started, you’ll pick a unique class and squad up with two teammates. Since the game prevents duplicate classes, your trio will need to coordinate to ensure a balanced mix of abilities before heading out.

Successful extractions reward you with three essential resources Class XP for leveling up, Requisition for purchasing upgrades, and Armory Data to unlock superior weaponry. Just keep in mind that these rewards are only granted upon completion; if you quit early, you'll walk away empty-handed.

How to Unlock Operations

Operations become available right after the Rain of Terror tutorial mission. Once you've cleared it, simply head to the Battle Barge to access the mode. To change your weapons and loadout, you need to finish the Skyfire campaign mission first.

When Each Mission Unlocks

  • Inferno opens after Campaign Mission 2: Severance

  • Decapitation opens after Campaign Mission 4: Servant of the Machine

  • Vox Liberatis opens after Campaign Mission 4: Servant of the Machine

  • The rest unlock as you keep playing through the campaign

Every Operation Mission - Objectives and What to Expect

When the game was launched, there were 6 operations, but after the November 2025 update, 6 more were added.

Operation 1 - Inferno

Objective: Blow up a fuel refinery to kill off the Tyranid swarm on Kadaku.

As the most straightforward mission in the game, Inferno is perfect for farming Requisition once you've learned the layout. Two dataslates are hidden here. One is inside an old bunker near a burning trash pile at the start. The other is on a table near an elevator inside the main refinery hall.

Operation 2 - Decapitation

Objective: Hunt down and kill the Hive Tyrant leading the Tyranids on Avarax.

This one ends with a big boss fight. The Hive Tyrant is a Terminus enemy, which means it hits hard and takes time to kill. Defeating it drops Armory Data directly, making this a great mission to run when you want to upgrade weapons.

Operation 3 - Vox Liberatis

Objective: Fight through the Thousand Sons and find out what is blocking communications.

This is the first mission with Chaos enemies instead of Tyranids. The fight feels different since Chaos troops are more tactical than the swarming bugs. Two Dataslates are hidden here. The first one is past the initial elevator going up. The second one is near a large round elevator close to the final fight area.

Operation 4 - Reliquary

Objective: Destroy the Warp Beacon that keeps pulling Chaos reinforcements to Demerium.

Expect to fight through dark underground catacombs where Chaos enemies wait around every corner. One dataslate sits in the main hall near a locked door and terminal up the stairs to the left. Take time to look around before rushing the beacon.

Operation 5 - Fall of Atreus

Objective: Find the Sword of Atreus ship and get it ready for launch.

This is a longer mission with several different stages. Gene-Seeds and Armory Data are scattered off the main path. Do not rush this one. Check every side area before moving the objective forward.

Operation 6 - Ballistic Engine

Objective: Use a Nova Cannon Warhead and a moving train to weaken the Tyranids on Avarax.

This mission works differently from the others. You have to protect and control a moving objective while waves of enemies push in from every direction. Expect non-stop pressure and communicate with your squad.

Operations 7 to 12 - Termination, Obelisk, Exfiltration, Vortex, Reclamation, Disruption

These six missions follow the same idea. Multi-stage objectives, hidden collectibles, and either Tyranid or Chaos enemies, depending on the mission. They all use the same difficulty and reward system. Running these on Substantial and Ruthless is the fastest way to get top-tier gear.

Difficulty Levels and Rewards

There are six difficulty settings. Greater difficulty means more XP, more Requisition, and better Armory Data. The best gear in the game is locked behind the harder settings. There is no shortcut.

What You Do with Each Reward

Requisition

This is your main spending currency. It will help you unlock class perks, weapon upgrades, and cosmetics. Use it to get class perks, buy weapon upgrades, and get other cosmetic items. You may have the XP for the perk, but you still need Requisition to turn it on.

Armory Data

This unlocks better versions of your weapons. Green Armory Data upgrades Master-Crafted weapons. Purple upgrades Artificer weapons. Yellow upgrades Relic weapons. Once you have used your LootBar game key to access the full Operations mode, you will need to collect both Armory Data and Requisition together to complete any high-level weapon upgrade.

XP and Weapon Mastery

Class XP levels up the class you are playing. Weapon Mastery is separate and levels up individual weapons as you use them in combat. Both systems run simultaneously, and both require attention if you want a fully upgraded loadout.

Hidden Collectibles in Every Mission

Every mission has Gene-Seeds and Dataslates hidden off the main path. Gene-Seeds give you bonus XP at the end of the mission. Dataslates unlock lore entries. Armory Data pickups found in the level add to what you get from the mission reward screen.

Always clear each area before pushing the next objective. If you die and restart from a checkpoint, any collectibles you already picked up stay collected. But if you abandon the mission completely, nothing carries over.

Quick Tips to Play Operations Better

  • Try to jump to more difficult tasks as soon as possible. Since Minimal and Average offer the same rewards, you'll want to reach Substantial to start earning Artificer-tier gear. Do not sit in easy mode longer than you have to.
  • Explore before you rush objectives: Every mission hides Gene-Seeds and Armory Data off the beaten path. A few extra minutes of searching pays off in better end-mission rewards.
  • Never quit mid-mission: Zero rewards if you leave early. If the run is going badly, push through anyway. Partial completion gives you nothing.
  • Sort your class before loading in: Three players, no duplicate classes. Agree on who plays what before the mission starts, so you are not shuffling around at the last second.
  • Replay old missions at higher difficulty: Don't be afraid to replay older missions on harder settings, as a map you cleared on Average will pay out much better Relic-tier gear when played on Ruthless.

Conclusion

Space Marine 2 Operations gives you 12 missions to run, six difficulty levels to climb, and a full progression system built around getting better gear every time you play.

Know your objective before you drop in. Explore every area for hidden collectibles. Push difficulty as your gear allows. Run with a coordinated squad and never leave early. That is all it takes to get the most out of every Operation mission in Space Marine 2.
