VCT Americas W2: Upsets, Standings & London Race

Week 2 of VCT Americas Stage 1 flipped the standings on their head. MIBR and Leviatán took over Group Alpha, while Cloud9 and G2 are now scrambling. Here's what it means for the Masters London race.

Two weeks in and Stage 1 already feels weirdly different from what people were expecting. I went into Week 2 thinking G2 would bounce back and Cloud9 would handle ENVY without much trouble. Both of those things did not happen. Instead, the South American teams kept doing South American team things, and Group Alpha is now headed by two squads that a lot of bracket predictions had outside the top three. Masters London is in June, only the top three from Americas punch a ticket, and the gap between "comfortable" and "must-win every weekend" is already showing up in the standings. Below is how Week 2 actually played out and why I think a couple of teams are in real trouble.

Group Alpha Standings Got Shaken Up FastVCT AMERICAS STAGE 1 - WEEK 2 MATCHES

So here's things sit. MIBR are 2-0 with a 4-0 map record, which is the cleanest line on the board. Leviatan are also 2-0 but they had to sweat a bit more, sitting at 4-1 on maps. Then you've got LOUD and ENVY both at 1-1, and the bottom of the group is G2 and Cloud9 at 0-2. The styandings would be less alarming if not for the fact that G2 and Cloud0 still have to play each other AND face the top of the group again. There's no soft schedule waiting for them. If you've been watching the broadcasts and feel like loading into ranked yourself, LootBar is the one I keep going back to for VP top-ups — usually a few bucks cheaper than the in-game store, and the delivery is basically instant. Saved me a couple of times when I wanted a battle pass before reset.

ENVY vs Cloud9 — The Upset That Started the Weekend

The Friday match was supposed to be a Cloud9 win. Most pickem brackets had it that way. ENVY dropped Split 11-13 and it really did look like the series was going one direction, but then Pearl happened — 13-5, totally lopsided, and Cloud9 never really recovered. keznit was everywhere on that map, and the Demon1 Chamber play on Haven where he caught three guys peeking out of a smoke is going to be in highlight reels for a while. Final score 2-1 ENVY. The thing is, this isn't really an "upset" if you've been paying attention to ENVY's scrims talk over the past month, but on paper it counts as one. Cloud9 at 0-2 with a tough schedule ahead is a problem the C9 fanbase is, predictably, already arguing about on Reddit.

G2 vs Leviatán — A Heartbreaker for G2 FansG2 VS LEV PIC

This one stung. trent went absolutely nuclear on Breeze, 24 kills, looked unstoppable, and G2 took map one 13-6. If you only saw that map you'd think G2 were about to roll. Then Split happened, and Bind happened, and both went to overtime-or-close-to-it, and Leviatán just kept finding clutch rounds when they needed them. Final score 2-1 LEV. spikeziN got MVP and honestly he deserved it, but I want to highlight Neon — he's been one of the most consistent duelists in Americas this stage and nobody is really talking about it yet. For G2, this loss is bad less because of the result and more because of the pattern. They keep winning the maps where they're favored and losing the close ones, which is usually a sign of a comms or mid-round decision-making issue rather than mechanical skill. Tough fix mid-stage.

MIBR vs LOUD — aspas Did Exactly What Everyone Expected

The Brazilian derby was the shortest series of the weekend. aspas against his old team is always going to be a storyline, and he showed up — Haven 13-10, Split 13-4. That Split number is rough. LOUD's attack on Split looked completely stuck, no real mid control, and a couple of the post-plant retakes were just embarrassing. MIBR are the only team in Group Alpha with a perfect map record right now, and going off the way they're playing right now they have a real argument as the best team in the region two weeks in. Bold to say given how early it is, but the tape backs it up.

Who's Actually in Position for Masters London?VCT AMERICAS TEAMS

The top three from Americas qualify for Masters London, plus the playoff winner skips the swiss stage entirely and goes straight to the playoff bracket — that’s a huge deal and it’s why every series matters this much. MIBR and Leviatán look like the safest bets right now, ENVY and LOUD are still in fine shape at 1-1, and over in Group Omega it’s KRÜ at 3-0 doing the heavy lifting with FURIA right behind. Honestly, the team I’m most curious about is Sentinels, who are mid-pack and could swing either direction. The teams I’d write off (carefully) are G2 and Cloud9, but Stage 1 isn’t long enough to fully count anyone out yet. If you’re picking up new agents or want to grind a battle pass while watching the rest of Stage 1 play out,

VCT LONDON BANNERLootBar is genuinely the most painless way to top up — I’ve used it for the last three battle passes and never had an issue.Week 2 didn’t give us a clear “this team will win Stage 1” answer, but it did clarify which teams are in trouble. MIBR and Leviatán get the breathing room. ENVY and LOUD are fine. G2 and Cloud9 have to start winning, like, immediately. We’ve got three more weekends before playoffs and Group Omega still has matches that could shake things up just as much.
