Okay, so there have been tons of spicy rumors and speculations going around in the Valorant community about the new agent dubbed “Agent 28”. From hints from devs and the new VCT trailers dropping hints here and there about the new agent that is coming to the game and his role in the Valorant’s roster.
Dawn of the Duelist Trailer
The recent "Dawn of the Duelist" cinematic gives us some initial hints. We see familiar faces like Phoenix, Tejo, Brimstone, Raze, and Vyse heading to Bangkok, Thailand. What's interesting is that this same squad was in the V-25 trailer, also in Bangkok. Could this mean Agent 28 has ties to Bangkok? Maybe they're even from there, which would be a first for Valorant.

Then there's that email Tejo sends: "The crew has potential, but they aren't you. Stand by". This suggests Agent 28 is someone special, maybe a key source of Intel. According to the community, Agent 28 might be the very person who tipped them off about those incursions on Alpha Earth.
This can be hinting at the new rumored agent is most probably a “Thai” agent, Valorant like to brings in its characters from different parts of the world to give each country its own representation which I think is pretty neat.
Hunting for Clues: Teasers and Trailers
Riot loves dropping hints before a big release, and Agent 28 is no exception. We've got a few things to analyze:
- "Prismatic Pathways" Player Card: This card from the current battle pass is definitely eye-catching. The codename "refract" could point to some kind of dash ability. I thinks the name itself, "Prismatic Pathways," hints at lights, reflections, and maybe even crystals. Could "Pathways" be an ability that helps the team, maybe even giving a speed boost? Riot loves to tease it’s new agents through player cards, they did the same for Tejo and Vyse as well.
- The Loading Screen Shadow: Keep an eye on the loading screen. There's a shadowy figure lurking in the background, just like the teasers before Neon came out. In neon’s trailer the shadowy figure turned out to be Fade so this time it might be our new agent.
- Kickoff Trailer Sneak Peek: Remember that kickoff trailer? There's a quick scene showing someone lifting off the ground and dashing with colorful lights. Is this Agent 28 showing off a dash ability? That might be similar to Jett’s dash, this might be true as this new agent is supposed to be a duelist Also, Raze's eyes reflect a diamond shape that shifts colors. Plus, what's with all the crystals and those mysterious soldiers? This definitely points to the agent having abilities related to prism or lights in general maybe a flash ability as well.
- Grenade Disintegration: The kickoff trailer features a raise grenade flying through the air before disintegrating, which might suggest a that the new agent might have some sort of ability that nullifies projectiles like Tejo’s guided missiles or Raze’s grenade, this could come clutch for post plant situations where especially Tejo can become very annoying to deal with.
What Can Agent 28 Do? Speculating on Abilities and Role
So, what kind of abilities can we expect? That dash we see in the trailer seems pretty likely. And with all the talk about lights and reflections, maybe they can manipulate light or create illusions.
I’m betting on a duelist with a movement ability, maybe something like like Jett’s dash to Yoru teleport. Community also leans towards duelist, especially since it's been a while since the last one. However, they're not ruling out a controller. Maybe Agent 28 will have a dash and some kind of blinding ability.
What the Devs have to say
During a recent game update video with the leading devs, the devs explained all the new stuff that’s coming to the game and have confirmed the release of a 2 new agents but their names and abilities are still unconfirmed by the devs but they did have a few things to say like, “we think there’s some heavy hitters that you’re gonna have fun with” this clearly points to our new agent being a duelist because only duelist have abilities that make them heavy hitters, they also said “ the new agent will bring colorful new ways to play the game” focus on the word colorful this clearly points to the new agent having prism/light focused abilities.
Could Agent 28 Be Shatter Reborn?
Here's a fun thought could Agent 28 be inspired by Shatter, an agent that never made it into the game? Shatter was supposed to have a clone ability. While it's just speculation, this agent was scrapped by Riot and never made it into the game maybe Riot's bringing back some old assets and maybe they might be used to make this new agent.
When Can We Expect Agent 28?
Everyone wants to know the release date. I thinking the next act, around March, is a good bet. That would be about 56 days after Iso's release. Plus, Riot's already announced the map pool update.
