The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin Book of Stars Dungeon Guide

The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin has launched officially, and as you explore the game, it becomes clearer that just having SSR characters is not enough. You also need to equally focus on increasing your Book of Stars level to make the game more rewarding. You must have noticed that your progress occasionally hits a cap while exploring Britannia. That is usually a Book of Stars Dungeon.

These dungeons are mandatory to clear so that you can continue your progress. They unlock after every 15 levels of your account progression. The Book of Stars level stops if you don't clear it, and you stop receiving Star Fragments and Hero Draw Tickets. You can use The Seven Deadly Sins Origin top up from LootBar to get these, but if you are an F2P player, it is good for you to clear the ascension dungeons. In this guide, we will walk you through the mechanics of each dungeon and how to clear them. This will help you keep your journey moving toward the endgame.

What is the Book of Stars System?

The Book of Stars is basically your Account or World Level. Activities like opening standard chests, solving environmental puzzles, or activating waypoints provide EXP points for this book. After every 15 levels, there comes a soft cap on your progress. The levels are 15, 30, 45, and 60. To break this cap and continue leveling, you must enter a dedicated dungeon and clear it to increase the quality of loot in the world.

Core Combat Mechanics

You need to master three systems before you step into the dungeon.

The Tag & Intro System

In this game, your entire team shares a unified HP bar. This makes switching characters a tactical choice. As you perform normal attacks and skills, you fill a Tag Gauge. After this gauge is full, you can trigger a Tag Skill if you switch to that character. Tag Skills drastically boost your Ultimate Gauge. You should be swapping your characters every time the gauge is full to activate your Ultimates faster.

The Elemental Burst Phase

Every character has an element among the following:

  1. Fire
  2. Cold
  3. Earth
  4. Lightning
  5. Wind
  6. Physical
  7. Holy
  8. Darkness

Attacking with the same element fills a Burst Gauge. When it hits the cap, you enter a Burst Phase of the corresponding element:

  • Fire Burst gives massive damage amplification.
  • Cold Burst freezes the enemy, providing a window for free damage.
  • Earth Burst provides a barrier that prevents incoming damage and increases your damage stacking by up to five times.
  • Lightning Burst causes chain damage and stuns.
  • Wind Burst generates a wind current beneath the affected enemy.

Milestone bosses often have a shield that can only be broken by triggering the correct Elemental Burst. That's why mastering this combat system becomes important.

Weak Point Targeting

A new system called the Weak Point System was introduced. Bosses have specific glowing spots on their bodies. If you hit these spots, you can deal more damage and can eventually break the boss, putting them in a vulnerable state.

Dungeon Bosses and How to Defeat Them

Level 15: The Locus Golem

This dungeon takes place in an ancient cave and introduces the Cube Puzzle mechanics.

Dungeon Mechanics & Puzzles

Early in the dungeon, you must position one character like Tioreh on one floor switch while you stand on the other. This opens the gate to the inner sanctum. Approach the glowing stones and press the buttons in the sequence shown on the wall. This charges your Book of Stars and allows you to interact with the Mysterious Cubes used to unlock doors.

Boss Fight: The Locus Golem

The Golem is a Physical-element boss with high defense. It has 2 phases:

  1. Phase 1: The Golem uses slow slams. Use a character with a Greatsword or Axe to deal stagger damage to its legs.
  2. Phase 2: Once you hit 60% HP, the Golem's core becomes a Weak Point after the triggered cutscene. Focus your Lightning or Fire attacks on this point.

If you see the Golem charging a red energy field, use a Perfect Dodge to get out of the area. This grants a buff called Witch Time, in which you can build your Burst Gauge without interruption.

Level 30: The Ancient Dragon

At Level 30, the difficulty increases significantly. This dungeon is designed to make sure you understand Elemental Advantage. The boss is called The Ancient Dragon and it frequently flies out of reach of melee characters. To defeat it, you must bring a Staff or Wand user like SSR King or Elaine, or a Lance user with high vertical reach.

The Dragon will periodically grant itself a Wind Shield. Use Earth elements to shatter this shield instantly. When the Dragon flies high and the screen edges turn red, it is preparing a dive. You can either block with a Shield character or time your Tag Skill swap. Switching characters during the dive gives you a brief moment of invulnerability.

Level 45: Demon Hendrickson

At this stage, you are entering the Early Endgame. Hendrickson is a Darkness element boss that tests your healing and sustain. It leaves black puddles on the ground that drain your shared HP bar. To defeat him, you need a Holy-element character like SSR Tristan to cleanse these zones, or a healer like Elaine to keep up with the HP drain.

To build a good team for this dungeon, you can buy Seven Deadly Sins Origin Star Memory and get SSR characters.
