Mega Altaria ex Deck Builds to Try

Mega Altaria

In order for this Pokémon card to shine, you’ll need to combine it with other strong cards, like Greninja, Furfou, or Indeedee ex, for the best support. You can easily get them; Lootbar can help with that. Below are some of the best Mega Altaria ex decks you can try:

Mega Altaria ex and Greninja Deck

Greninja is one of the best Pokémon cards that can deal chipping passive damage when built correctly. Combine it with Mega Altaria ex, and you can have more consistent attacks. For this build, you can use Chingling to delay the enemy’s progress by preventing them from using any item cards. Doing so can make it faster to set up both Mega Altaria ex and Greninja. Recommended supporting items for this build are Professor's Research, Poke Ball, Lisia, Copycat, Rare Candy, Swablu, and Cyrus.

Mega Altaria and Furfou Deck

Still using Mega Altaria ex and Chingling, you can use Furfou, a basic Pokémon that has the Fur Coat ability. This allows it to take 20 damage from attacks, making it really durable. Using Furfou is a good strategy for both protecting Mega Altaria ex and harassing the enemy. For this build, you’ll need good supporting cards, like Sabrina for switching enemy’s position, Rocky Helmet, Cyrus, Mars, Copycat, Lisia, X Speed, Poke Ball, and Professor's Research.

Mega Altaria ex and Indeedee ex

Indeedee ex is one of the best supports in the Pokémon TCG Pocket. Combining it with Mega Altaria ex, you’ll have a deck that’s consistent and great for competitive gaming. Now, what Indeedee ex does is to give 20 heal for your active Pokémon. Placing two cards will grant you 40 heal, which is not bad at all. If you put two Indeede ex cards and another on the bench, Mega Altaria ex can deal 130 damage while still being healed for 40 each time. This will make Mega Altaria ex way more durable than it originally is.

We know that Mega Altaria ex is  already as strong as it is. However, it’s still a good idea to have another attacker to deal more damage to the enemies. In this case, you can use Giratina ex, which can deal about 130 damage, although it needs more energy. But this won’t be a problem at all, because its Broken-Space Bellow can take another Psychic Energy per turn. If you don’t currently have Indeedee ex, maybe it’s time to check out on Lootbar.

Mega Altaria ex and Sylveon ex Deck

Up to this point, we agree that Mega Altaeria ex is indeed a powerful card. The 130 damage is nothing to be shaken off. However, evolving it from the basic Pokémon may require a bit of time to set up. For this reason, you can use Sylveon ex, another strong contender that is useful to draw more cards. Using Dusknoir as a tank, you may draw more cards using Sylveon ex’s ability. One supporting card that is highly recommended for this build is Lisia, which can find 2 random basic Pokémon with 50 HP or less from the deck to your hand.

Best Strategy When Using Mega Altaria ex Deck

Mega Altaria ex card

Now that you know what to combine to build a solid and consistent Mega Altaria ex deck, what’s the best strategy for winning more games? To make the best of this card, you will have to fill up your entire deck to maximize the damage. Remember that Mega Altaria ex’s Mega Harmony can deal an additional 30 damage for each benched Pokémon. With 40 basic attacks plus another 90, you can get 130 damage. It can easily eradicate the enemies.

But an even better strategy is to use the best supporting cards at the bench. In this case, you can put Indeedee ex or Sylveon ex. Having them as supporters can definitely change the tide of the game. Although Mega Altaria ex is indeed strong and durable, it’s not that hard to counter it. It’s weak against Pom-Pom Oricorio, which has the ability to negate any damage coming from any ex Pokémonds. For this problem, you can use other non-ex Pokémon as a second attacker, like a second Altaria.

How to Counter Mega Altaria ex Deck

Solgaleo ex

With 190 HP, Mega Altaria ex may seem frightening at first. Many players would like to quit their game if they encounter one. However, this Pokémon is actually easy to counter. As it’s a Psychic Pokémon, what you’ll need are Metal Pokémons. In this case, you can choose Solgaleo ex and Melmetal ex that can KO Mega Altaria ex in two turns. However, it is recommended to do this as early as possible before the enemy fulfills their benches.

If it’s already too late, you can always prevent Mega Altaria ex from dealing damage by using support cards, like Sabrina or Cyrus. With these cards, you will force Mega Altaria ex to retreat. Each time he is in the Active spot, force it to the bench again. At least by doing this you can have more time to build up a strong Metal Pokémon to defeat it for good.

Conclusion

Mega Altaria ex deck build is indeed a solid and powerful one to have. Since the card itself is already durable, using supporting Pokémon, like Indeedee ex can further increase its survivability in a long battle. Fulfilling all the bench spots is a must-do strategy here, since it can increase Mega Altaria ex’s damage to 130. Thus, if you really want a good deck build, go for Mega Altaria ex. To build its deck, you can always do a Pokémon TCG Pocket top up to get better Pokémons.
