It’s been a good bit of time now since NetEase released Marvel Rivals’ new zombies mode to promote the Marvel Zombies TV show. Featuring a small story, new skins, and an entirely new skill system, it’s one of the best things added to the game since launch.

Every Character in The Zombies PvE Mode, From Worst To Best
5. Jeff The Land Shark
Recent buffs have made Jeff one of the most viable healers in Marvel Rivals. But, he’s definitely the worst of the five characters. His Hide and Seek ability is really fun to use up until Nightmare, when it becomes a lot less viable because of low damage.
He has great mobility and decent survivability, but Jeff just doesn’t have enough damage to be relevant above Nightmare II. Even with his strongest builds, you can’t do much against Undead Sentinels, let alone Zombie Namor and Scarlet Witch. That leaves him as the worst character, and he’s even considered a throw pick by the community at Nightmare III or IV.
4. Thor
Putting it frankly, Thor is only useful with his Awakening Rune build. His other one is entirely useless, and you shouldn’t dump any points into it. Focus entirely on maxing out his Awakening Rune skills, and he starts to be a heavy hitter.
Thor has much lower damage than everyone but Jeff. But, with the right blessings and good positioning, he’s amazing for clearing hordes at higher difficulties. Up until Nightmare III, he’s easily viable in good hands. But, remember to only focus on Awakening Rune and keep getting blessings that improve it. Without his AoE being greatly improved, Thor is almost as useless as Jeff at higher difficulties, so keep that in mind.
3. Magik
Magik is arguably the most fun character to use in the Zombies mode, and her Darkchild build is extremely strong. Her normal form is great too up until Nightmare III, but for her full potential, players should focus fully on Darkchild. With her infinite Ultimate duration skill, and the right blessings, Magik can just keep spamming Eldritch Whirl endlessly.
Focusing on Darkchild and getting boosts for gives her huge AoE damage in a very wide range. She’s excellent for clearing hordes and a huge help against Zombie Namor’s annoying squids. But, she misses out on the top 2 spots because only her Darkchild build is fully viable, and even that has heavily reduced health compared to normal form. She’s a glass cannon, but a really, really useful one if you’re lucky with blessings.
2. The Punisher
The Punisher is, unsurprisingly, an extremely high damaging hero in the new Zombies mode. His automatic turret ability paired with a fully powered Adjudication make him great for both hordes and bosses. Lifesteal abilities also keep him alive against Nightmare IV’s high damaging enemies.
The only reason why Punisher isn’t number 1 is because he has no good mobility, and he takes a while to get into full stride. Punisher will always start slow, but blessings will quickly multiply his damage tenfold in the middle of each match.
1. Blade
Likely to no one’s surprise, Blade is top among Marvel Rivals' zombie mode's best characters on our list. His lifesteal during Bloodline Awakening, and hilariously high rate of fire with the right Ancestral Sword blessings make him easily the best character in the mode.
He also has amazing mobility because of his dash, and help from Khonshu with moonblades and Ankhs. He’s clearly the go-to character, especially for Nightmare IV. He melts through hordes and is great for fighting both bosses. There’s really not much more that can be said about Blade. He’s simply a level above all the other picks in this mode, and you may very well be forced to use him if you want to beat Nightmare IV.
Plus, he has a great new skin tied to the event, where he’s dressed as the new Moon Knight, just like the Marvel Zombies show. The skin is a part of the Voyage to Astonish event pass, so if you want extra pumpkins to unlock it quickly, remember to give LootBar a visit for a great deal on Lattice.
Conclusion
Magik and Punisher are both good, but Blade is just the best no matter what way you put it. Focus on perfecting his gameplay and you should be able to clear even Nightmare IV in the new mode.
