The Best of The Bunch in Team of The Week 9
Being honest, there are a lot of surprises in TOTW 9 that are hard to understand. One of the main ones being Lewandowski’s absence after a hattrick of goals in Barcelona’s 4-2 win over Celta Vigo. And, the other being De Ligt’s absence after a genuinely world-class performance against Tottenham to secure a tough 2-2 draw for Manchester United away from home.
TOTW 9 actually doesn’t have any high-meta players, which isn’t usual. There’s usually at least one premium card. But, this time none of them are even close to touching 1m coins even at launch. Still, there are a few really good cards in there that could upgrade most teams.
Jeremy Doku: A Speedy LW With Serious Evo Potential.
Doku is easily the best card in TOTW 9. He’s not even close to being the highest rated. But, in terms of meta, he’s a potential beast that could be a great investment for future evos given his stats. He has a blistering 94 pace and 90 dribbling, which is obviously amazing for LW. The thing that makes this card really special though, is that it fixes one of Doku’s biggest issues in game.
The Belgian’s always been let down by his shooting when it comes to his gold card. But this TOTW upgrade gives him Finesse Shot+, arguably the best playstyle in the game. Gold Finesse Shot paired with his insane speed and dribbling, along with silver Rapid and even Quick Step make him a great LW for most prem teams, or at least a great super sub. And since he’s only 84 rated, evos could soon make him even better.
Lionel Messi: Amazing Left-Stick Dribbling But Tough To Link
La Pulga needs no introduction. Another amazing performance on the weekend earned Messi a spot in TOTW 9. Of course, he’s no longer the beast he was in FC/FIFA, so this card isn’t as rare as a unicorn. He’s actually quite affordable for a special Messi card. But, that’s because it’s hard to link him, since there are few meta Argentinian players and even fewer MLS ones.
But, if you can somehow manage to make the little magician fit in your team, you can rest assured that he’s a fantastic CAM. Messi has amazingly responsive left-stick dribbling and is so good at both passing and shooting. Even better than his already great stats (86 shooting, 86 passing, and 91 dribbling) let on. His pace and physicality isn’t the greatest for a CAM, but he’ll thrive in a possession-based team.
Vitinha: Slow, But A Creative Powerhouse
Vitinha is the highest rated card in TOTW 9, but he’s definitely not the best one despite that. His pace and relatively low defending leave him out of the meta as a CM or DM. But, just like Messi, he’s a fantastic CAM if you know how to use him.
With 91 dribbling and Technical+, he’s as smooth as it gets on the ball. Plus, he has three silver passing playstyles and 87 passing, which make him a beast at creating chances. Silver intercept and relentless also make him a bit more viable as a CM. But, his best position is definitely CAM with Anchor or Hunter chem.
Cheap Beasts in TOTW 9
The star players themselves aren’t all that great this time around, so there aren’t many cheap beasts in TOTW 9. But, if you have a prem team and need a CB, don’t sleep on Ballard. With 90 base physicality and 85 defending, he’s a potentially great CB with a shadow, and could be even better with evos soon since he’s only 86-rated. The rest of the players are mostly just fodder, and you can get a better look at them below.
Other than that, it’s a lacklustre TOTW this time around. So, if you don’t want just fodder and want a better chance at packing Messi and Doku, buy FC26 coins from LootBar to open any packs or buy any players from the market.
Conclusion
That’s it for TOTW 9! If you want these first owned, or a better shot at packing the best players from UEFA Primetime while it’s still going on, top up FC 26 coins on LootBar to open as many packs as you would like. And remember; don’t sleep on Doku. Even as just a super sub he’s a great investment since evos could make him amazing soon!
