Embark Studios displayed its commitment to Arc Raiders with the four-updates Escalation roadmap. Three updates have already been released, introducing new map conditions, bringing rewards from projects, and giving you unique enemies to fight. The final update, Riven Tides, will also bring all these elements, but the thing fans are most excited about is the new map. Here’s everything we know about the Riven Tides map, and when the update will be released.

What is Riven Tides

Arc Raiders Escalation roadmap.

Riven Tides is the fourth and final Arc Raiders update that will effectively end the Escalation roadmap. The updates started with Headwinds in January, and Riven Tides will release in April. There is no official confirmation regarding the details of new additions, but there is some information about everything that will be included in the update.

  • A new coastal map

  • A new large ARC enemy

  • A new map condition

  • Expedition window

  • New cosmetics and weapons

First full map since Stella Montis

Arc Raiders’ last full map was released in 2025 with the North Line update. Since then, players have only seen new map conditions and PvE threats, but no new battlegrounds. The Riven Tides map will be the first one in several months, making it a big deal. Reports and pictures revealed that the map is set at a coastal location. Some reports also suggest that the new map condition may also be linked to water. If you want to see whether these reports turn out to be true, be sure you have purchased the game from LootBar or another website.

Layout and theme

Several sources have confirmed that the Riven Tides map will have a coastal theme, making it the first water-adjacent map. This will make it stand out from other maps, because they are inland locations.

Riven Tides will reportedly have:

  • Open water bodies

  • Coastal structures that players can explore

  • Diverse terrain, such as beaches and cliffs

  • New weather changes linked to the ocean biome, which could affect visibility

  • Barriers around water edges that can restrict your movements

Verticality

Riven Tides’ has a more layered layout that can influence positioning substantially. The elevated areas can provide cover to evade enemies or hide behind while attacking. Lower areas and beach locations may limit your visibility and also force you into melee combat. The multi-story structures offer ample locations to use ranged attacks from. These structures can also be used as vantage points to locate targets or do tactical reconnaissance. Riven Tides can change combat significantly because of how the map is structured.

How will combat be affected?

While there isn’t any official confirmation, the promotional images suggest some changes that can affect combat.

  • Chokepoints: Cliff edges, docks, and the shore may restrict your movement and influence PvE encounters

  • Elevation: High ground points offer a better position for ranged attacks, observing, or tracking

  • Terrain: The map will have different terrains that can influence movement and combat

  • Vantage points: Open areas and multi-story structures offer more strategic spots to locate enemies or support your team while hiding behind cover

Comparison to other maps

Riven Tides is unique compared to most of Arc Raiders’ existing maps. For instance, the previous map that was added, Stella Montis, is a snowy mountain area. Riven Tides, in comparison, is a watery location with beaches and cliffs. Dam Battlegrounds is an inland industrial dystopia, which is again substantially different from Riven Tides.

This isn’t to say there are no similarities between Riven Tides and other Arc Radiers maps. Blue Gate and Spaceport are famous for their multi-story structures, which Riven Tides also has. Another similarity is between Buried City’s tunnels and Riven Tides cliffs. They’re both chokepoints that can be used by your opponents.

Water-based mechanics

While it has been revealed that Riven Tides will be a coastal map with open water and shoreline terrain, there is no official confirmation about any new mechanics. Some unverified reports and leaks suggest that the map may feature water-based mechanics. These may include tides affecting your movement or temporary flooding. Some speculate that the flooding may be the new environmental hazard that Riven Tides will introduce. Whether these rumors turn out to be true remains to be seen.

New ARC enemy

A major addition that was revealed for Riven Tides was a single but powerful ARC enemy. This specific opponent is expected to be a boss-level threat, similar to Matriarch and Vaporizer of the previous updates. Information about the new ARC is scarce, but you will likely need to prepare and strategize to defeat it, similar to the enemies introduced in previous updates.

When will Riven Tides release

There is no official confirmation regarding the release date for the Riven Tides update, but it's expected to launch at the end of April. Each of the three previous Escalation updates has been released at the end of the month. It’s also worth noting that each of the updates was released on the last Tuesday of the month. If Embark Studios follows the same schedule, then Riven Tides should release on April 28.

Conclusion

Embark Studios is set to end their Escalation roadmap with a bang and a massive new map. Many players are already excited about how the coastal Riven Tides will change Arc Raiders. While the game will still be a survival extraction title, the beaches and other locations will influence combat and other elements.
