Best Arceus EX Decks and Strategies in Pokémon TCG Pocket

Triumphant Light is the latest mini set to hit Pokemon TCG Pocket, and it’s brought a huge meta shift with it. Unlike the previous mini set Mythical Island which served to supplement its meta, Triumphant Light turns everything on its head. The catalyst for this monumental change? The mini set’s headlining card, Arceus EX, a card that brings unreal amounts of synergy and possibilities. By the way, if you are lack of Poké Gold, don't hesitate to check out LootBar to top up Pokemon TCG Pocket.

Arceus EX Rundown

Today we’ll be doing a breakdown of some of the best Arceus EX decks, as well as how to use them. It’s by and far one of the most flexible cards in the game, which means the deck possibilities are endless. Give these decks a try, maybe tweak them to your tastes a little, and you’ll find yourself becoming an unstoppable force in Pokemon TCG Pocket.

If you haven’t gotten yourself an Arceus EX yet, then there’s no time to waste. It’s one of the best cards in the current meta, and you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage without it. If you need Pokegold for your Triumphant Light pulls, then worry not, LootBar has you covered. Offering competitive prices, LootBar is the best and safest option for purchasing Poke Gold.

Deck 1: Arceus EX + Dialga EX

Arceus EX + Dialga EX

Arceus EX has endless synergy with many cards in its mini set, which is why it’s surprising that its best deck is with Dialga EX, from the previous full set Space-time Smackdown. This deck makes use of many powerful EX cards, allowing players to shift the game to their favour even with a bad start. In fact, the only non-EX Pokemon here is Shaymin, providing essential healing support.

Dialga EX and Arceus EX serve as the main powerhouses of the deck. Drawing Dialga EX first is optimal, allowing you to quickly ramp up Arceus EX once it’s on your bench. After one Metallic Turbo, Arceus EX is ready to unleash its powerful Ultimate Force, doing 130 damage with three cards on your bench.

Mew EX is a fail-safe in case you need to revenge kill a powerful card, but otherwise it’s interchangeable with a second Shaymin for more healing. Practically the only way this deck can brick is if you draw Shaymin as your only starter, which is rare. Otherwise, the only drawback is that it’s a bit of an expensive deck, requiring two Dialga EX and two Arceus EX for the best odds.

Arceus EX + Dialga EX decks have been so disruptive to the meta that the defacto counter to them, Sudowoodo, has suddenly risen into a top-tier card. Even then, it’s not difficult to play around it with this deck. If you’re looking to raise your win count, then this is the best deck to run as of now.

Deck 2: Arceus EX + Darkrai EX + Crobat

Arceus EX + Darkrai EX + Crobat

In case you miss the Darkrai EX meta, don’t worry, it didn’t go anywhere. In fact, with the new addition of Crobat in Triumphant Light, the passive damage Dark-type meta is arguably just as powerful as ever. The goal of this set is to get all your Pokemon online as quickly as possible, in order to reap monumental amounts of passive damage and crippling your opponent’s gameplan.

Previous meta champion Darkrai EX is your ideal starter, allowing you to immediately begin stacking damage through its ability Nightmare Aura. While Darkrai stalls and does damage, you want to get Crobat and Arceus EX into play to abuse Crobat’s ability, Cunning Link. This allows Crobat to do 30 damage to the opponent’s active Pokemon for free, as long as Arceus EX is in play.

It’s difficult to overstate just how oppressive this combination is. Darkrai EX and Crobat do 50 in passive damage each turn, and you can still build your deck in the meantime. Then, once the opponent gets through the wall that is Darkrai EX, it still has to contend with Arceus EX which is impressively tanky in its own right and dishes out huge, game-ending damage.

The only reason this deck isn’t the best in the meta right now is because it can be beaten, by the Arceus EX + Dialga EX deck mentioned above. Even then, it’s a close fight, and typically comes down to luck. It’s a good example of just how oppressive and instrumental Arceus EX is in the current meta, where it’s the key card in two completely different decks.

Deck 3: Arceus EX + Abomasnow

Arceus EX + Abomasnow

Abomasnow is one of the new cards that works in synergy with Arceus EX, one that’s severely underused at the moment. With Arceus EX on your bench, Abomasnow has its energy cost reduced by one, effectively allowing it to hammer out 80 damage attacks with no drawback, for only two energy.

With this, the gameplan is evident. Get Manaphy online first, get some energy distribution onto your Arceus EX and Snover, and immediately get to attacking your enemy. It’s an aggressive deck, and you ideally want to get to attacking as quickly as possible. Because Abomasnow doesn’t require much to start attacking, it gives you more time to power up your Arceus EX.

Irida is here to help keep everyone alive, make sure to use Water-type energy. With Giant Cape equipped Abomasnow almost becomes a psuedo-EX Pokeon in terms of power. Dawn is here to help with ramping up energy if needed, and Pokemon Communication will help you find cards you might need. Overall a strong deck that’s straightforward and fun to play.

Conclusion

Arceus EX is easily one of the most powerful and dominant cards we’ve seen come out of Pokemon TCG Pocket. If you haven’t gotten it yet, we recommend digging deep and securing one at the soonest convenience. Again, we recommend LootBar for purchasing the Poke Gold. With that, we wish you luck, and experiment around with your Arceus EX decks!
