Path of Exile 2 Hideouts Guide: Unlock and customize your hideouts

Returning in Path of Exile 1, Hideouts are a staple of the game as was in its predecessor. In Path of Exile 2, hideouts remain crucial customizable hubs, but with a new system for acquisition. These personalized spaces allow players to decorate with unique decorations, access essential crafting benches for item modification, and host Masters who offer valuable crafting options and missions. Hideouts also serve as a popular trading hub and house the Map Device, vital for accessing endgame maps and content.

Now discovered within maps on the Atlas or accessible earlier via microtransactions, hideouts offer a personalized and functional space for crafting, trading, and planning your Path of Exile 2 adventures, making them an integral part of the game experience.

What is a hideout

A hideout in Path of Exile 2 is a customizable personal space for players, serving as their private base of operations. It's a functional hub with several key purposes:

  • Personalization and Decoration: Players can decorate their hideout with various decorations, creating a unique and personalized environment.

  • Access to Masters: Hideouts are where you invite and interact with Masters, important NPCs who offer various services, including crafting options and missions.

  • Crafting Stations: Examples include the Reforging Bench (allows you to recycle bad gear) and the Salvage Bench (used to break down items into crafting materials). These stations provide convenient access to different crafting processes.

  • Map Device: Your hideout houses the Map Device, a crucial device used to open maps, which are the primary way to access endgame content.

  • Stash: Hideouts also contain your stash which is essential to store any items and currency that you drop in the game.

In essence, your hideout in Path of Exile 2 is your central hub for managing progression, interacting with Masters, engaging with the new crafting systems via specialized stations, and expressing your creativity through decoration. The core function of the hideout as a personal and functional space remains a key part of the game. How to Unlock Hideouts

Unlocking a hideout in Path of Exile 2 isn't immediately obvious. Even seasoned Path of Exile players might find the new system a bit confusing since the game doesn't explicitly guide you. To access a hideout, you first must find a hideout whilst mapping across the atlas. Once you find a hideout on the atlas, you enter it, clear out all of the mobs, and you then unlock it. There are 4 total hideouts in PoE2 early access, and they are the Felled Hideout, the Canal Hideout, the Limestone Hideout, and the Shrine Hideout.

There are a couple of ways to go to your hideout in PoE2. After you have unlocked a hideout, a blue icon will appear to the right on your map which when clicked will teleport you to your hideout. Another way is using your chat, you can type ‘/hideout’ and it will teleport you to your hideout.

Path of Exile 2 introduces specialized crafting stations like the Reforging and Salvage Benches, making hideouts even more vital for item progression. While you now discover hideouts within maps on the Atlas, their core purpose remains the same: a personalized and functional space.
