Path of Exile 2 Act 1 Campaign Walkthrough: A Step-by-Step Guide

Introduction

You can have a rough time going through the campaign in Path of Exile 2 if you don’t know where you’re going. First, you must know that every death in areas leads to every single mob resetting, so you will go faster by just playing it safe and not dying in areas. At any time during the campaign, if you’re missing flask charges you can port to town, click the well and then take your portal back. You will not be able to cap your resistance in Act 1, so don’t worry about it, the most important and powerful item you can get is a pair of boots with movement speed.

This PoE 2 Act 1 Campaign guide will tell you how to navigate the campaign efficiently, including key strategies, boss tactics, and essential items for success.

Access the town

Make your way through the first zone by equipping your weapon and the skill gem, Kill Bloated Miller to access the town, once in the town talk to Renly for your reward and create a new skill gem.

Kill the devourer

Once you’re done with checking vendors and clearing your inventory go to the Clearfell; hug a wall until you find the entrance of the Mud Burrow. Kill the Devourer at the end of the zone, he’s constantly firing bolts so make sure to keep moving, when he does his AoE spit, hide behind the body parts he creates all around the room during the fight (it counts as a wall) you can also choose to roll through the spell. Create a portal to town. Talk to Renly for your reward and create a new skill gem.

The Old Forest

Enter again into the Clearfell and this time look for the entrance to the Old Forest.

Find the tree of souls and summon Una, grab the waypoint, and search for The Red Vale entrance.

The Red Vale

Make your way through this messy zone and click on the different obelisk of rust, defeat the waves of monsters (be ready to face a lot of monsters), and pick up the quest items until the quest is marked as complete, on the last obelisk you will have to fight the rust king, just make sure to dodge his massive cleave as it one shot, do not face the boss when he’s casting and dodge spikes then it should be fine.

The Tree of Souls

Go back to town, talk to Renly, and grab the runed spikes. Teleport into the old forest and click the 3 runic seals on the tree.

The Graveyard

Talk to the hooded one and create a new skill gem.

Enter the Grim Tangle right under the Tree of Souls. Find the Graveyard entrance, then find the Tomb entrance, and explore the zone until you find its boss Asinia. This boss is pretty easy as soon as you keep a damaging spell for the prison to escape out of it before the rain, if you keep some damage output and don’t stay in the runes it should be trivial.

Asinia’s prison

Once the boss is defeated take the portal back to the graveyard. Find and enter the mausoleum, explore the mausoleum until you find Draven, and defeat him. This fight might be the first one to be a bit tricky depending on your game experience and your current build. When he does his multi-bolt cleave you should roll on a precise timing to dodge them, don’t stay in his runes, and when he does the big flames spreading try to reach his back so you’ll be in a safe spot.

Graveyard’s boss: Lachlann

Port to town, take the waypoint back to the graveyard, and talk to Lachlann to defeat him. This boss can also be a bit clunky, make sure to always be moving in a circle around him because he fires a lot of long-range projectile/cleave, most of his abilities will leave a trail of frost behind them, dealing frost damage and slowing you. The goal is to bait those abilities on the edges of the room while circling the middle pillar to keep the fighting space clean. One ability will leave a projectile moving in circles, make sure to move away from it before it spawns. The boss will fire a projectile from the sky, make sure not to be in a slow zone at this moment and roll away from it(movement speed boots can help). Do not stay too far away from him he fires a cone attack with an infinite range so it’s hard to dodge if you’re not close to him. Pick up the item and forge a new support gem.

The king in the mists

Once Lachlann is dead, look for access to the Hunting Grounds in the graveyard, this zone will be way easier if you have any kind of chaos/poison resistance, search for Freythorn zone, click all 3 altars in the zone, then click the one at the end of the zone, defeat the king of the mists. He’s trivial, his only ability is giving you a debuff allowing you very few movements for this period or he will stun you, just keep flask charges to tank some of his abilities during this debuff (using 1-2 rolls won’t trigger the stun too).

The king in the mists

The Ogham Village

Click the quest item, port back to town, take your first aura gem, and equip it (right-click on it to activate).

Teleport to the hunting grounds and travel to the village road(Ogham Farmlands).

Find the Una’s lute box and pick up the Una’s lute, enter the Ogham Village, and take the waypoint at the entrance. Port to town to give back the lute to Una (it rewards 2 passive skill points).

Teleport back to Ogham Village waypoint and find the Executioner, defeat him, he does frontal, double cleave, and leap, he sometimes calls a pillar from the sky or does a big fiery slam (I’d rather not stay in it).

Explore the manor

Free the prisoner and head to the courtyard, find the entrance to the iron manor. Once in the manor, search for the psalm of madness, click it, and defeat the boss, when he breathes, stand close to him so you can move behind him easily, and move to his back when he fires explosions with his shoulders. Pick up the essence and use it by clicking on it.

Travel the whole manor until you reach the Iron Count. This boss has many phases and will be way easier with a freeze immune charm if you found one already, in the first phase he just charges and cleaves, and in the second phase, he sometimes falls from the roof. In the last phase on top of everything you will have to dodge beams from the sky, find the safe spot when the boss places pools on the ground, and when fog appears make sure to stay out of it and to use your life flask frequently, kill the ads as best as you can while trying to dodge boss charges (you usually have time to fire 3 spells in between boss charges).

Geonor, the putrid wolf
