Within the dark, puppet-ruled world of Krat, your choices define your soul. In Lies of P, there is a special Lie System that tracks Pinocchio’s humanity. Each time you lie or do something that is considered “human” (such as listening to music), you earn Humanity points. These points, along with key choices at the end of the game, will decide which of the three main endings and the secret DLC ending you get. Regardless of whether you are beginning your playthrough with a Lies of P Steam Key from LootBar or playing through again for completion, you must grasp these mechanics is essential.
This guide breaks down all the requirements for each ending, so you can be certain when you need to tell the truth and when to listen to your human heart.

Understanding the Humanity System
The Humanity system is the heart of the game Lies of P. Contrary to most games, where lying is considered a “moral failing,” in the case of a puppet, lying is an indicator of independent thinking and emotional depth. When Pinocchio lies, shows compassion, or appreciates art, he earns humanity points.
As you build up these points, the game offer subtle text hints. To ensure the best ending, reach Level 4 before the final boss. The progression is as follows:
- Level 1: Your springs are reacting.
- Level 2: The Ergo is whispering.
- Level 3: You feel warmth.
- Level 4: Your heart is pounding.
To raise these levels, you need to deceive NPCs who can't take the truth, solve Arlecchino's riddles through telephones, perform gestures (such as "Pray" at the altar or "Check Ground" at the grave), and listen to records in their entirety at the Hotel Krat gramophone.
Real Boy: They All Lived Happily Ever After
This is widely considered the "Bad Ending" of the game, although the title itself is misleadingly pleasant. It is a complete surrender to Geppetto’s ultimate plan. The interesting thing about this ending is that it is the only one that doesn’t care about your humanity level at all. Whether you have been the perfect truth-teller or the world’s greatest liar, this route is always an option.
How to Unlock:
- Continue the story until you reach Area 11 (Arche Abbey).
- Defeat the boss, Simon Manus, Awakened God.
- Take the elevator down to “Under the Abyss” to get Geppetto.
- When Geppetto demands your heart, select the option "Give your heart.”
Key Points:
- No Choice Restriction: It doesn’t matter whether you lied or told the truth throughout the game. The game stops here if you give your heart.
- Post-Game Trophies: Don’t start NG+ immediately. Come back to Hotel Krat. A letter on Geppetto's desk to get “The Story of One Father.” You can play the piano in the lobby to get the "Pianist of Krat" trophy.
Free from the Puppet String
This is the "Neutral Ending." In this case, Pinocchio gains enough ego to disobey Geppetto’s commands but lacks the complete transcendence necessary to become human. This is usually the effect of a playthrough in which the player was not consistent with the act of lying or did not attain the highest level of Humanity.
How to Unlock:
- You have to possess at least Level 2 Humanity ("The Ergo is whispering") to even have the chance to disobey Geppetto.
- When you locate the real Sophia after defeating Laxasia the Complete, you have to select "Let her live,” Alternatively, you can select "Give her peace" only if your humanity is too low to turn your hair white.
- Defeat Simon Manus, Awakened God.
- When Geppetto requests your heart, select “Refuse.”
- Kill the secret final boss: The Nameless Puppet.
Key Points:
Refusing Geppetto will bring up the Nameless Puppet Boss Fight. This will be rewarded by the silver trophy "The First Puppet.”
Rise of P
This is the most complex ending and will require you to fully accept the humanity of Pinocchio. It leads to a very transformative moment for the protagonist and a much more hopeful ending.
How to Unlock:
- You need to have the level 4 (“Your heart is pounding”) before the final act. All this will be done by lying and hearing all the recordings that the hotel holds.
- The Turning Point: Defeat Laxasia the Complete, then go to Sophia's room. You must choose "Give her peace."
Note: If your humanity level is high enough, P’s hair will turn grey/white in this cutscene. This is an indicator that you are on the right path for this ending.
- Defeat Simon Manus, Awakened God. When he asks what you did with Sophia, tell him, “I gave her peace.”
- Meet Geppetto under the abyss and select "Refuse" when he asks for your heart.
- Defeat the Nameless Puppet.
At this point in the game, most completionist players who have purchased a game key on LootBar just for achievement hunting rush to this ending first for its unique trophies.
Key Notes:
- Your hair doesn't change colour while you grant Sophia peace, which means you don't have enough Humanity. You may have to listen to more records before the final fight.
- Getting this ending also nets you the "Rise of P" gold trophy and "The Story of the Blue Butterfly" trophy.
Overture DLC Ending: The Rose's Memory
The Overture story gives a particular ending, which delves into the backstory of the game creator and the history of puppets.
How to Unlock:
- Play through the DLC until you fight Arlecchino, the Blood Artist.
- Defeat Arlecchino to get Monad's Rose Sword and the Key to the Secret Room.
- After the credits, a cutscene with Geppetto, Lea, and Romeo.
- After waking up, follow the blue butterflies to the frozen Eventide Hotel Krat.
- Follow them to the Miraculous Flower Garden.
- Use the Secret Room Key to enter Lea's Room. There you will get "Lea's Recollection" and a special painting that ends this chapter.
Conclusion
Achieving all endings in Lies of P will take at least two complete playthroughs. The "Real Boy" ending is a chilling exploration of what happens when a puppet becomes nothing more than a tool, while "Rise of P" is a beautiful, painful exploration of what it means to be human. The most important thing any player can take away is this: Lying in this game is not "bad." In the world of Krat, lying is an expression of imagination, empathy, and a growing soul. If you want the best possible ending, you must learn to be human, to hear the music of the world, and to show mercy to those suffering.
