Keeper of the Flaming Mountains Overview

The main fight will take place in The Emerald Hall which was introduced in the Flaming Mountains chapter of Black Myth: Wukong. At the entrance you will see a shrine. From there take the stairs and move upwards. Once you move upwards you will start a cutscene that will begin the fight. This boss fight is unique because there are 2 separate phases. In the first phase you will have to fight the Keeper, and in the second phase you will have to fight Yin-Yang Fish. If you defeat both of them only then you will be able to progress fully.

The Keeper of the Flaming Mountains is a Yaoguai King enemy type. It has powerful magical attacks and can summon support during combat. You will have to heavily use ranged and magical projectiles. Also you will have to control the battlefield very carefully and survive the waves of enemies that the Keeper summons.

Phase One: The Keeper of the Flaming Mountains

For the first part you will face the Keeper of the Flaming Mountains. Be careful because this boss always remains agile. It keeps some distance from you and mostly uses ranged attacks and magic. It sometimes comes close for melee attacks but mostly it will throw powerful projectiles at you and summon weak enemies to harass you.

Black Myth: Wukong Keeper of the Flaming Mountains Phase I

Attack Patterns and Dangers

  • The Keeper will throw long range magic projectiles very frequently towards you. You will have to position yourself carefully and dodge these projectiles very precisely. You have to constantly keep moving and jumping so the Keeper cannot target you.
  • During the fight the Keeper will summon some weak Yaoguai enemies like archers and melee fighters. These adds always try to look for opportunities to attack you. If you ignore them then they can surround you and damage you very quickly. Try to kill them as soon as possible so that you can reduce some pressure.
  • Even though the Keeper is a Yaoguai King it has very low health. Once you dodge its spells and get close try to repeatedly put heavy attacks on it. This will reduce its health very quickly.

Tips for the Keeper

  • Most of the time the Keeper will attack from far away. So always keep moving so that you can easily dodge those attacks. This will also help you to position yourself if you want to make any counterattack.
  • Try to eliminate archers and other ranged units first. In this way when you try to dodge the Keeper’s attacks you won’t be hit by other enemies.
  • Using spells like Immobilize and Pluck of Many, and transformations like Azure Dust you can significantly reduce the Keeper’s HP. Try to use these immediately after you dodge an attack for maximum efficiency.

Phase Two: The Yin-Yang Fish Emerges

When you have almost killed the Keeper of the Flaming Mountains it retreats and summons the Yin-Yang Fish to continue the fight. This second enemy focuses on aerial and projectile attacks and has a very different fighting style from the Keeper.

Attack Patterns and Dangers

  • When you attack the Yin-Yang Fish’s tail it can quickly counterattack you with a powerful tail slap. For this first the fish will tilt its head toward you and then hit you very fast. As soon as you see this head animation you have to dodge immediately.
  • When the fish is airborne it throws multiple projectiles towards you. If you stay in one place then you will find it difficult to handle them. You have to constantly run and roll to dodge them effectively.
  • In between attacking the fish sometimes howls for about 7 seconds. During this gap you can come closer and deal damage and the fish won’t be able to start a counterattack immediately so you will have some time to run away.

From these elements you can clearly understand how intense and exciting this game. So you should immediately grab a Black Myth: Wukong steam key and start playing the game if you haven’t already done so.
