How and where to get Chevalam in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 lets players pick and choose from all sorts of weapons. However, the interesting part is that every character has a unique weapon type, and it’s impossible to mix and match them. If you’re looking for a nice weapon for Verso and Gustave, then you’ll be hard-pressed to find something that comes close to the Chevalam. Of course, knowing where the weapon is and its uses can help you, too.

Where to Find the Chevalam in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?

The Chevalam in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

Players can get the Chevalam by defeating the Chromatic Gold Chevaliere, an optional boss found in the Crimson Forest area during Act 3. To reach this area, players need to go north of the Endless Tower to find the floating optional Crimson Forest zone. If all of this sounds foreign to you, then you’ll have to buy Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from a platform such as LootBar first.

The objective within the forest is to activate three statues holding swords. From the first Rest Point, players should follow the straight ahead and grapple across the gap to reach the Crimson Perch Rest Point. Go down the gold rope to the right of the flag, then jump across the platforms. The path will split into three directions at the top.

Players need to take the middle path to find the first blade statue. Interacting with it will summon Nevrons that need to be defeated to continue. The second blade statue is hidden ahead. Instead of jumping across the gap in front, players must drop down from the wooden ledge, activate the statue, then turn right to fight more enemies. Then players have to follow this path back to where they took the gold rope down from the Crimson Perch flag, and then jump across the floating pillars to return to the three-way split.

Players must go left this time. In the large clearing at The Three Blades Rest Point, players must go right and use the grapple point to cross the gap at the end of the path to find the third statue. Interacting with the swirling energy at the back of the clearing in front of The Three Blades Flag will summon the boss.

How to Beat the Chromatic Gold Chevaliere in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Chromatic Gold Chevaliere in Clair Obscur Expedition 33

The boss fight includes a Clair and an Obscur. Clair nullifies Light damage while Obscur nullifies Dark damage. The Chromatic Gold Chevaliere is weak to both Light and Dark but is resistant to Fire and Ice. A good team composition is Sciel, Verse, and Maelle. Lune is a viable option if the player focuses on Lightning and Earth attacks.

The boss uses two powerful multi-hit combos:

  • Frozen attack: The boss freezes its sword and attempts to land a seven-hit combo on the entity party. The first six attacks are side-to-side swipes, and the final hit is a vertical slash.

  • Fire attack: The boss ignites its sword and performs a six-hit combo that inflicts Burn. Parry or dodge whenever the boss turns to face the party. The final two hits are jumping attacks.

Players should focus on defeating Clair and Obscur first, as they can buff the boss and give it shields. Defeating the boss drops a Level 20 Perilous Parry Pictos, which provides +1 AP on parries but doubles damage taken.
