Yunli Character Overview

Yunli is an ATK scaling DPS character, the vast majority of her output will be coming from her Talent and Ultimate in the form of counterattacks (which count as Follow Up ATKs, important detail), what is interesting about Yunli is her Ultimate costing 120 energy with a total cap of 240 meaning that you will rarely overcap on energy, which is important because her talent provides 15 additional energy every time she counters, meaning she will have very high uptime on her Ultimate. Timing is crucial with Yunli’s Ultimate, as the Parry state she gains from using her Ultimate only lasts until the next ally or enemy’s turn, and if she is not attacked during this state, the attack she uses will be significantly weaker. Her skill is a Blast attack that restores her HP, which is important for Yunli to stay alive through receiving constant attacks from the enemy, to trigger her Talent/Ultimate.

Yunli Trace Priority

Both Yunli’s Talent and Ultimate are the highest priority as they make up the majority of her damage and should be equally prioritised. Skill can be maxed after Talent and Ultimate, as the heal it provides scales with trace level and will help her survivability. Basic ATK can be ignored or levelled after all other traces have been maxed out.

1.Dance at Sunset

Yunli’s Signature light cone is her best choice as it provides something significant for Yunli’s entire kit to function: A much higher chance of being targeted/attacked by enemies, which means she will always get counterattacks. In addition, it provides a huge CRIT DMG% buff of 36% and provides a stacking buff “Firedance” when the wearer uses Ultimate. “Firedance” increases the damage dealt by Follow Up ATKs by 36% and can stack up to two times. Effectively, a 72% damage increase on all of Yunli’s counters.

2.The Unreachable Side

Blade’s signature Light Cone is a strong alternative for Yunli, as she is reliant on getting attacked and will be able to get the 24% damage buff from this Light Cone very often. Additionally, this Light Cone gives her CRIT Rate, which Yunli wants.

3.Something Irreplaceable

Since Clara and Yunli share a similar playstyle, it is natural that Clara’s signature Light Cone is also a good choice for Yunli, providing an ATK% increase and a DMG% buff of 24% when the user is attacked, meaning she will always have this buff when launching a counterattack.

Yunli’s Best Relics, Planar Ornaments and Stat Priority

1.Relics

The best relic set for Yunli is going to be the 4-piece The Wind-Soaring Valorousset, providing her with ATK at 2P and CRIT rate at 4P, as well as a huge buff to her Ultimate with a 36% damage increase. Since her counters count as Follow Up ATK’s, she will always have the buff for the ultimate active, making it her strongest relic set.

Two alternative sets for Yunli that are strong includePoet of Mourning Collapseand The Ashblazing Grand Duke. The counters from her Talent only deal one instance of damage so to quickly stack this set you will need the full counter from your Ultimate which deals up to 8 instances of damage.

Poet of Mourning Collapse	2P Bonus: Increases Quantum DMG by 10%. 4P Bonus: Decreases the wearer's SPD by 8%. Before entering battle, if the wearer's SPD is lower than 110/95, increases the wearer's CRIT Rate by 20%/32%. This effect applies to the wearer's memosprite at the same time.
The Ashblazing Grand Duke	2P Bonus: Increases the DMG dealt by follow-up attacks by 20%. 4P Bonus: When the wearer uses follow-up attacks, increases the wearer's ATK by 6% for every time the follow-up attack deals DMG. This effect can stack up to 8 time(s) and lasts for 3 turn(s). This effect is removed the next time the wearer uses a follow-up attack.

2.Planar Ornaments

For Planar Ornaments, there are two choices for Yunli that stand out, the Inert Salotto set and the Duran, Dynasty of Running Wolves set. Inert Salotto is a consistent 15% DMG buff to her counters at all times, including her Talent and Ultimate and the Duran set is a stacking Follow Up ATK% buff and a CRIT DMG% buff of 25% when fully stacked, however this set is not as consistent as Inert because of the stacking required and depends on the team compositions you're running as it would require other characters in the team to be using Follow Up ATKs to stack quickly. Both sets are strong options on Yunli, depending on your team composition.

Each stack of Merit increases the DMG dealt by the wearer's follow-up attacks by 5%. When there are 5 stacks, additionally increases the wearer's CRIT DMG by 25%.

3.Stats Priority

Relic Main Stats:

• Chest: Crit Rate/Crit DMG %

• Boots: ATK %

• Planar Sphere: Physical DMG% / ATK%

• Link Rope: ATK % / ERR % 

Sub Stat: Crit Rate/Crit DMG (Aim for a 1:2 ratio e.g 100% CRIT rate and 200% CRIT DMG) > ATK%

Yunli Team Compositions

Yunli works with a wide variety of supports. Her best team is with her as a hypercarry with 2 supports (at least one that can Action Advance her) and a sustain. It is not recommended to run her without a sustain as she needs to be taking a lot of hits to reach her true damage potential.

Support 1: Sunday/Sparkle/Trailblazer (Rememberance)

Your first support should provide action advance, and the best in slot in this category would be Sunday as he provides her with energy to ultimate more frequently and buffs her damage significantly. As Yunli also makes good use of Dan Heng • Permansor Terrae due to her being an ATK scaling DPS, this makes Sunday’s buffs even stronger.

If you don’t have Sunday, Sparkle is a good alternative as she provides a lot of CRIT DMG and is very comfortable to play because of her Skill Point generating ultimate.

A support everyone has and can work nicely with Yunli is Trailblazer (Remembrance) who provides her access to True DMG and 10% Crit Rate.

Support 2:Tribbie/Robin/Tingyun

Tribbie is one of the strongest choices in this support slot as she will frequently trigger her Follow Up from Yunli’s ultimate and offers Yunli All-Type RES PEN and Yunli will be able to easily charge Tribbie’s ultimate due to her frequent counters and help Yunli in full AOE scenarios which she might struggle in.

Because Yunli’s counters are counted as Follow Up ATK’s, Robin is a very strong choice for her as Robin’s A4 trace increases the Crit DMG of Follow Up’s by 25% as well as a very high ATK + DMG% boost and can advance Yunli when she uses Ultimate.

Yunli Eidolons

Eidolon 1

Yunli’s first Eidolon is her most significant for vertical investment as it is a 20% damage increase on the two parts of her Ultimate: Intuit: Slash and Intuit: Cull and increases the number of hits on the latter 3. This increase in damage is significant and E1S1 is a fine stopping point for those looking to invest in Yunli.

Eidolon 2

Yunli’s E2 gives her a 20% DEF ignore on her counters (including her talent and ultimate) which is strong but is potentially even stronger if paired with other sources of DEF ignore (e.g: Sparkle E2), but isn’t as big of an increase as E0 to E1. 

Eidolon 4

Yunli’s E4 gives her 50% Effect RES after launching her Ultimate counter for one turn. Since you will usually run a sustain that can cleanse negative effects, this Eidolon is low value and not a priority.

Eidolon 6

Yunli’s E6 is very powerful if you want to invest in her all the way as it removes the need for her to be attacked during her ultimate’s Taunt to activate Intuit: Cull which means her ultimate will do the maximum damage irregardless of if she's attacked or not, additionally her Ultimate counter gains 15% CRIT Rate and 20% Physical RES PEN. While this is Eidolon is strong, it comes with a heavy investment requirement.
