Phainon Basic Introduction
Phainon is a 5-star Physical character following the Path of Destruction in Honkai: Star Rail performing as a main damage dealer in hypercarry teams. He gains a stack of Coreflame through his kit instead of Energy to use his Ultimate. Once he reaches a certain number of Coreflame, he can use his Ultimate to enter a Territory, departs all allies except for himself, gains a self-buff and has 3 different abilities. Additionally, after doing a certain number of fixed turns, he will leave the Territory and deal damage that is distributed evenly to all enemies.
His combat style is focused on having his supports buffing him outside of his Territory to gain stacks of Coreflame to use his Ultimate quicker. After he entered his Territory, all buffs obtained outside of his Ultimate will not decrease in duration, making him deal more damage during his fixed turns. His key features include:
- Territory: His Territory inflicts Physical weakness to all enemies, departs all of his allies, and gives 8 fixed-turns to Phainon. Departing his allies can be a double-edged sword since his allies cannot help him, but his allies cannot be attacked. This is good when you are doing a sustainless run since Phainon is quite durable during his Ultimate.
- Hypercarry: His kit revolves around him as a DPS in a hypercarry team setup, by having as the center of his teammates buff and dealing damage as much as possible during his 8 extra turns inside his Ultimate.

- Basic ATK: His Basic ATK is the least important trace to level up since most of his damage output comes from his Skill and his Basic ATK is used to generate Scourge stacks.
- Skill: His Skill is the most important trace to level up since he has 3 different Skills: his Skill outside of his transformation, and 2 Skills inside his transformation that levelling up this trace effectively improves 3 Skills.
- Talent: His Talent increases his CRIT DMG whenever he gets a buff from an ally teammate. His Talent also significantly increases his ATK and HP inside his transformation, making this trace quite nice to level up after his Ultimate.
- Ultimate: His Ultimate is the second most important trace to level up since it increases the damage dealt whenever Phainon exits the transformation state. Also, his total AV consumed in those 8 turns when he uses his Ultimate is specified below:
- Major Trace 1 (March to Oblivion): Phainon will gain 1 point of Coreflame at the start of the battle and gain 3 points of Coreflame whenever his transformation ended, making him use his Ultimate much more frequently.
- Major Trace 2 (Bide in Flames): Phainon will increase his DMG dealt by 45% whenever he receives healing or shielding effect, this is not that good in a run since sustain can be replaced with another buffer that gives him more damage amplification unless the sustain can help him do damage while he is in Territory. Additionally, whenever he receives Energy regeneration ability effects, he also gains 1 extra point of Coreflame.
- Major Trace 3 (Shine with Valor): Increases Phainon’s ATK that is stackable up to 2 times when entering battle or whenever his transformation ended.

Thus Burns the Dawn
Dispossession: The wearer's base SPD increases by 12 / 14 / 16 / 18 / 20 . When the wearer deals DMG, ignores 18% / 22.5% / 27% / 31.5% / 36% of the target's DEF. After the wearer uses Ultimate, obtains "Blazing Sun," which is removed at the start of their turn. While "Blazing Sun" is in possession, increases the wearer's DMG dealt by 60% / 78% / 96% / 114% / 132% .
This light cone increases his base SPD which is much needed in reducing the total AV consumed during his Ultimate. Additionally, this light cone also increases his damaging capabilities by ignoring DEF and increasing DMG%.

Kinship: Increases the wearer's ATK by 24% / 28% / 32% / 36% / 40% . When the wearer defeats an enemy or is hit, immediately restores HP equal to 8% / 9% / 10% / 11% / 12% of the wearer's ATK. At the same time, the wearer's DMG is increased by 24% / 28% / 32% / 36% / 40% until the end of their next turn. This effect cannot stack and can only trigger 1 time per turn.
While this light cone increases his ATK, although his ATK buffs is already diluted enough, it also
restores HP and increases his DMG% whenever he is attacked or defeats an enemy, which might help in his survivability since he is the only one in the Territory.
On the Fall of an Aeon
Moth to Flames: When the wearer attacks, increases their ATK by 8% / 10% / 12% / 14% / 16% in this battle. This effect can stack up to 4 time(s). After the wearer breaks an enemy's Weakness, increases DMG dealt by 12% / 15% / 18% / 21% / 24% , lasting for 2 turn(s).
This light cone works the same as the previous light cone with the ATK buff and the second effect of the light cone gives DMG% whenever he breaks an enemy’s weakness which is most likely possible due to Phainon giving all enemies Physical weakness whenever he deploys his Territory.

4-Pc: When the wearer becomes the target of another ally target's ability, gains 1 stack of "Help," stacking up to 2 time(s). If there are 2 stack(s) of "Help" when the wearer uses their Ultimate, consumes all "Help" to increase the wearer's ATK by 48% for 1 turn(s).
2. Planar Ornament
As for her best planar ornaments, you can go for Rutilant Arena or the new upcoming planar ornaments, Arcadia of Woven Dreams.

2-Pc: Increases the wearer’s CRIT Rate by 8%. When the wearer’s current CRIT Rate reaches 70%
or higher, DMG dealt by Basic ATK and Skill increases by 20%
Arcadia of Woven Dreams
2-Pc: When there are currently more or less than 4 ally targets in battle, each additional/missing ally target increases the wearer and their memosprite's DMG by 9%/12%, up to a maximum of 4/3 stacks.

Phainon Recommended Teams
Phainon only works in a hypercarry team setup due to how his kit works. Therefore, having supports that have high damage amplification (mostly single-target buffs) works best for all game modes.
Sunday, having 100% Advance Forward, CRIT DMG, Energy regeneration, and at least SP neutral, is great for Phainon since Phainon can also generate his own Coreflame stacks using his Skill while Sunday gives buffs through his Ultimate and Skill. Bronya works the same as Sunday with Advance Forward with additional ATK% and CRIT DMG buffs through her Ultimate. Tingyun works great with Phainon since she gives out ATK% and Energy regeneration, her bufis during Phainon's Ultimate won't be decreased due to how his Ultimate works. Remembrance Trailblazer's CRIT DMG and True DMG buffs are great due to how True DMG is currently undiluted due to how rare the buff is, which might increase Phainon's damage during his Ultimate.
While sustain is not really needed in this team because of how Phainon departs all his teammates. Gallagher can provide buffs to Phainon using Skill, which works with Phainon's major trace that increases his DMG% whenever he receives healing and gives debuffs to the enemies, providing Phainon sustain during his Ultimate when attacking. Although Phainon's best in slot teams are usually a buffer that targets him, supports that can increase his damaging capabilities without having to target buff him also work, such as Robin, Tribbie, and Ruan Mei. The only problem is that Phainon will have to generate his Corefame stacks much slower.
