Memory of Chaos Introduction
Memory of Chaos is a difficult end-game mode in Honkai: Star Rail, where you must defeat two encounters consisting of two waves of enemies, the second wave being a boss enemy with a large HP pool. Two separate teams are required for both of the encounters. The goal of Memory of Chaos is to earn 3 stars by completing both encounters in 10 cycles and having no teammates defeated during the battle. Additionally, the player is given a passive buff known as Memory Turbulence to aid them in defeating these challenging encounters!
Version 3.8 Memory of Chaos Duration
The Version 3.8 Memory of Chaos - Breached Nest is active from 2026/01/19 to 2026/3/02.
Version 3.8 Memory Turbulence
The Memory Turbulence for Memory of Chaos - Breached Nest provides the following buff for players:
| Memory Turbulence |
| At the start of each wave, recovers 4 Skill Point(s) for allies. When ally targets use Skills or consume Skill Points, add 1 hits to "Memory Turbulence," stacking up to 15 hit(s). At the start of each Cycle, each hit of "Memory Turbulence" deals True DMG once to a random enemy target. |
The Version 3.8 Memory Turbulence is a powerful buff to teams that rely on Skills or consuming a lot of Skill Points to deal damage. Some lineups will be able to use the full potential of this version's Memory Turbulence better than others, but it still remains a very generic, powerful buff to help you earn 3 stars in Version 3.8!
Stage 12 Node 1: Cocolia
Enemy Information
| Enemy Waves | In-game Models |
Wave 1: Dark Sun Gryphon, Ice Out of Space
| Wave 2: Cocolia, Bronya | |
| Recommended Types | |
Recommended Teams
| Team Name | Team Lineup |
| Archer | |
| Castorice | |
| Firefly Superbreak | |
| Phainon |
Because of this versions Memory Turbulence buff, Archer is a top-tier pick for this node with his outstanding single-target damage, perfectly suited for this version of Memory of Chaos.
Alternatively, the Remembrance team, with Castorice as the main DPS, will also deliver a great performance on this stage. It isn't recommended to use Evernight as the Main DPS because of Cocolia's high Ice RES. Cocolia's Fire weakness also makes Firefly Superbreak a great lineup for this encounter. If you are comfortable with this lineup, you can replace Lingsha with Trailblazer (Harmony).
If you have a stronger lineup for Node 2, Phainon can be used on Node 1 to great effect, because of the low number of enemies in this encounter, reducing potential damage wasted from his Bounce skill. Phainon will also quickly be able to defeat Bronya due to her Physical weakness, preventing Cocolia from being action advanced.
Stage 12 Node 2: Harbinger of Death: Swarm Nightmare
Enemy Information
| Enemy Waves | In-game Models |
Wave 1: Lady of Crashing Waves, Ichor Memosprite: Winged Serpent
Wave 2: Harbinger of Death: Swarm Nightmare
| Recommended Types | |
Recommended Teams
| Team Name | Team Lineup |
| Phainon | |
| Hysilens DoT | |
| Firefly Superbreak | |
| Anaxa |
Because of Harbringer of Death: Swarm Nightmare's boss mechanics, teams that do not rely on Crit DMG are strong vs this boss, or alternatively, lineups rely on one character to do damage. Crit DMG hypercarries such as Phainon and Anaxa fit well for this node, since they deal a vast majority of their lineups' damage. Both teams will also benefit from the versions Memory Turbulence as they rely on their skills.
The best alternative options include a Superbreak team with Firefly as the main DPS, as Super Break damage will be unaffected by the boss mechanics. Another strong alternative team you can use on this stage is a DoT team with Hysilens and Kafka, as they can bypass the Crit DMG restrictions and are more effective at defeating Lady of Crashing Waves in the first wave.
