Hero Knight in Clash Royale: Full Guide to Stats, Abilities, and Best Decks

Clash Royale started Season 78 – “Heroic Holidays” on December 1, 2025. This season is special because it brings Heroes. Heroes are like normal troops but stronger and they have abilities. The first Hero is Hero Knight, and Hero Giant, Hero Mini P.E.K.K.A., and Hero Musketeer are also included.

Hero Knight is a 3-Elixir melee tank. You can easily see him because he has a shiny shield and a big mustache. He might look funny to you, but he is very strong. Many players quickly started using him in ladder matches and challenges. He is very useful in both attack and defense. You can put two Heroes in one deck, which is new. This makes battles more interesting because now you must think carefully about when to use your Hero.

How to Get Hero Knight

Not everyone can use Hero Knight from the start. First, you need to be at Arena 15 (5,000 Trophies) and have King Level 24 to unlock the first Hero slot. The second slot opens later in Arena 25 (10,000 Trophies).

To unlock Hero Knight, you need 200 Hero Fragments. Fragments come from Hero Boxes, which you get from events, Pass Royale, and Crown Chase. The higher your arena, the better the boxes.

For new players at Arena 15+, there is a free event called Crown Chase Hero Unlock. It gives 200 fragments immediately. If you buy Premium Pass Royale, you get a specific Hero. The free track gives Hero Boxes randomly. If you get a duplicate Hero, it converts to 60 fragments plus some base cards. Later, you can also buy Heroes in the shop, and some come with special emotes. Hero levels are the same as their corresponding normal cards.

Hero Knight Stats and Ability

Hero Knight is mostly like the normal Knight. He costs 3 Elixir, has high health (1,214 at level 7), moderate damage (139 per hit), and 1.1 second attack speed.

The important thing is his ability called Triumphant Taunt. It costs 2 Elixir, has a 25-second cooldown, and takes 1 second to start. When you use it, all enemy troops and buildings around him, about 7.5 tiles, attack him. Even Crown Towers. At the same time, he gains a shield with 564 HP at level 7. Shield lasts 5 seconds or until broken. If shield breaks, the taunt continues. This makes Hero Knight very strong because enemies attack him instead of your other troops.

Before launch, the ability cost only 1 Elixir and the shield was weaker. It was changed to 2 Elixir and a stronger shield because the first version was too weak.

Strengths: Hero Knight can protect your win condition troops, kite enemy swarms, or tank tower damage. He is very efficient, giving more value than his cost.

Weaknesses: He is weak to spells like Fireball or Poison. He cannot attack air troops. If the ability is on cooldown, he can be less useful, so timing is very important.

Best Decks for Hero Knight

1. Hero Knight Log Bait

Average Elixir: 3.3
Cards: Goblin Barrel, Hero Knight, Princess, Goblin Gang, Inferno Tower, Rocket, Ice Spirit, The Log

This deck is fast and aggressive. You play cheap troops to annoy the opponent, while Hero Knight’s taunt protects them. Goblin Barrel and Princess can hit the tower safely. Inferno Tower kills big tanks, and Rocket can finish off towers or deal with heavy pushes. The deck cycles quickly so you can keep the pressure on.

Tips:

Play Goblin Gang before Goblin Barrel to bait spells.
Use Hero Knight’s taunt at the bridge to protect your push.
Save Rocket for trades or big threats. Don’t use it too early.

2. Giant Hero Knight Beatdown

This deck is for big pushes. Giant goes first. Hero Knight protects him. Activate taunt so enemies focus on Hero Knight and not your Giant. Mini P.E.K.K.A. and Musketeer deal with counter troops. Tesla stops mid-lane threats. Ice Golem and Log are cheap and help cycle your cards to keep the push going.

Tips:

Lead with Giant + Hero Knight and taunt quickly.
Place Tesla behind King Tower early for safe activation.
Use Mini P.E.K.K.A. with taunt to stop enemy tanks.

3. Hero Knight Graveyard

Cards: Graveyard, Hero Knight, Bowler, Witch, Minions, Tornado, Poison, Barbarian Barrel

This deck is tricky but very fun. Hero Knight goes first and taunts enemy troops. Graveyard skeletons hit the tower safely. Bowler blocks damage and pushes enemies back. Witch spawns skeletons for defense and offense. Minions protect from air troops. Tornado + Poison clears grouped enemies effectively.

Tips:

Start with Bowler into Graveyard, then use Hero Knight’s taunt.
Use Tornado + Poison after taunt for more damage.
Minions + Witch defend air while you cycle back to push again.

Hero Knight is not just a tank. He is useful, fun, and strong. Timing the taunt and using him with the right deck is very important. He can protect your troops, distract enemies, and help you win games. You can use him with Log Bait, Beatdown, or Graveyard decks. All decks can be strong if you use him correctly.
