Pulsing Aura Expansion - What’s New?
Starting from April 27, 2026, Pokémon TCGP players can now enjoy the Pulsing Aura expansions that effectively replace the previous one, the Mega Shine Pack that was introduced back on March 26. This expansion introduced the debut of some Pokémon that many fans have been waiting for, like Mega Lucario, Vaporeon ex, and Mega Sceptile ex. We will talk some more about the recommended cards to collect in the special section below. What you need to know for now is that these cards are great to collect since their abilities are game-changing. For those in need of new cards, LootBar is always available for the top-ups
Gold Frames
For the players who are interested in decorating their best decks, starting from this expansion, the gold frames will be available for 1-diamond, 2-diamond, and 3-diamond rarity cards. This applies to every series of Pokémon TCG Pocket that has been launched so far. To get this gold frame, you’ll need to collect 10 pieces of the same card. Once you fulfill it, the gold frame will be automatically awarded to you.
But what if you want another gold frame for your card? For this, you can just go to Obtain Flair and consume the card’s duplicates. With this feature around, players can basically get more gold frames for that card. Do remember that you’ll need to obtain the first gold frame before actually obtaining another.
Solo Battles
Other than the cosmetics, the Pulsing Aura expansion of Pokémon TCG Pocket also carries the challenging missions like previous expansions. This time around, you'll get the chance to fight the new Pokémon Solo Battles. Since these battles can be really tough, it would be better to start building your best decks to counter them. For those who want to build new decks, it’s always great to make some top-ups to collect greater cards. Don’t worry, LootBar can help you with that.
Elite Deck Gift Missions
Another thing that’s great about the Pulsing Aura expansion in Pokémon TCG Pocket is the Elite Deck Gift Missions. These missions, which are available starting from April 29 to July 29, open up an opportunity for players to collect cards to build Mega Charizard Y ex Elite and Moltres ex decks. Although these are called missions, it doesn’t take you long to complete them. The reason is that all you have to do is reach level 3 in order to obtain all the cards, except for the final mission. The final requires you to use the rental Mega Charizard Y ex deck, which is a really strong one.
For the new players, they’d likely finish all the missions within a day, seeing how easy it is to complete them. Make sure not to miss this event because the deck can be really helpful, especially for the new players who still don’t have that many decks to play with. The Mega Charizard Y ex Elite deck is indeed a good one, and still will be, at least until you can finally collect cards to build your best decks.
About Mega Charizard Y ex Deck
Mega Charizard Y ex is one of the strongest cards in Pokémon TCG Pocket. It has 220 HP, which makes it so durable and able to deal a whopping 250 fire damage. The attack requires 4 energy in total, which consists of 3 Fire Energy and 1 Free Energy. Compared to the Charizard card, the Y ex version is a lot better in terms of damage and durability. Therefore, it’s such a good idea to build a deck surrounding Mega Charizard Y ex.
Its deck usually consists of the basic evolution Pokémon, like Charmander and Charmeleon, plus Moltres ex. Moltres ex plays a huge role here because with its ability, Inferno Dance, players can flip 3 coins and draw Fire Energy depending on how many heads there are. When you combine Moltres ex with Mega Charizard Y ex, you can basically draw as much Fire Energy as possible for the Crimson Drive. With 250 damage, Mega Charizard Y ex is basically unstoppable at this point.
Cards to Collect
There are so many good Pulsing Aura cards players can collect, but the ones that are most notable are Mega Lucario ex, Vaporeon ex, and Zoroark ex. These three cards can be built into their respective special decks that consist of damage dealers and dependable support.
The Mega Lucario ex is already strong enough with its 90 damage, which requires only 2 energy. By adding at least 1 energy, the damage skyrocketed to 140, which could easily eliminate ex Pokémon in two rounds. It’s also possible to stack the damage with support tools or trainers, like Korrina, making it a lot more deadly.
Vaporeon ex is more like a supporter rather than a damage dealer. Its skill, Frozen Flow, is effective in stalling the enemy’s movement by forcing their weaker Pokémon to come out. It basically opens up an opportunity to deal a free hit, possibly gaining a point, by hitting their weakest.
Meanwhile, Zoroark ex has offensive abilities similar to Pikachu’s, whose damage is based on how many dark Pokémon are your bench. Focusing on building the dark Pokémon deck, and putting it on the active spot can be deadly for the enemy, especially since Zoroark ex only requires 1 energy to deal some damage, making it really effective in early rounds.
Conclusion
Pulsing Aura is indeed an interesting expansion to explore, especially with the new addition of cards, such as Mega Lucario ex and Vaporeon ex, which allow players to build even more unique decks than before. Since Pokémon TCG Pocket can be pretty competitive at times, building a solid deck is a must if you want a guaranteed win. Therefore, we highly recommend doing a Pokémon TCG Pocket top up to collect all the great cards the game has to offer.
