Mona's gameplay centers around her Elemental Burst which applies an Illusory Bubble to enemies that traps them and makes them Wet. When the bubble is broken by damage, it applies the Omen debuff, which increases damage taken by affected enemies. The Omen debuff's duration only begins counting down after the bubble pops, and in Freeze teams, frozen enemies can have their bubbles preserved indefinitely, extending the buff duration significantly.
Her Elemental Skill creates an illusory Phantom that continuously taunts enemies and deals Hydro damage. The Phantom explodes after its duration expires or when destroyed, dealing AoE Hydro damage. The Hold version allows Mona to dash backward before summoning the Phantom, providing defensive utility. Her unique Alternate Sprint, Illusory Torrent, allows her to move rapidly across water surfaces and automatically creates a Phantom after 2 seconds if enemies are nearby.
Her primary strengths include providing one of the strongest damage amplification buffs in the game through Omen, which at Talent Level 10 grants up to 60% DMG Bonus. She offers excellent Hydro application for enabling Freeze and Vaporize reactions, has strong energy generation capabilities, and her A4 Passive converts 20% of her Energy Recharge into Hydro DMG Bonus, allowing her to scale offensively with a support-oriented stat. Her exploration utility is unmatched, with her Alternate Sprint allowing effortless water traversal.
However, she has some notable weaknesses. Her Burst has specific timing requirements to maximize the Omen buff duration, making it technically demanding. The Illusory Bubble mechanic can be confusing for new players, and her damage amplification only applies to enemies affected by Omen. Her Alternate Sprint, while useful for exploration, can sometimes be clunky in combat and drains stamina quickly.

Upcoming Hexerei Buffs (Version 6.2)
In Version 6.2 update, Mona will receive significant buffs through the Hexerei Resonance mechanic after completing Witch's Homework: Of Untested Insight. These buffs activate when paired with at least one other Hexerei character (Durin, Venti, Klee, Albedo, Fischl, Sucrose, or Razor).
The core buff introduces the "Astral Glow of Mercury" mechanic: when Mona's Normal Attacks or Charged Attacks hit enemies, she gains 1 stack of Astral Glow of Mercury lasting 8 seconds, stacking up to 3 times with a maximum of 1 stack gained every 0.1 seconds. When another party member triggers a Vaporize reaction, all Astral Glow of Mercury stacks are consumed, increasing that Vaporize rection's damage by 15% per stack consumed.
Additionally, Mona's Normal and Charged Attacks can now extend the Omen duration on enemies by 2 seconds (up to a maximum of 8 seconds extension), with this effect triggering once every 0.5 seconds. This transforms Mona from a pure burst support into an active enabler who rewards on-field time.
Her constellations also receive significant enhancements in Version 6.2. C1 now also increases the DMG Bonus for all Hydro-related Elemental Reactions by 160% of its original effect, making Electro-Charged, Vaporize, and Frozen reactions significantly stronger. C2 now also increases the party's Elemental Mastery by 80 for 12 seconds after Mona hits an enemy with a Charged Attack, providing valuable team-wide buffs. C4 gains a new secondary effect where Hexerei characters hitting enemies debuffed by Omen deal 15% extra CRIT DMG. C6 now buffs Mona's Charged Attack damage by 200% against enemies debuffed by Omen, dramatically increasing her personal damage potential.
These buffs transform Mona from a one-burst support into a continuous enabler and buffer for reaction-based teams, particularly Vaporize compositions where she can provide up to 30% increased Vaporize damage through Phantasmal Bubble stacks.
