Future Stars Begins and Icon Swaps Return
Season 5 launched alongside one of the most anticipated promos every year- Future Stars. So many good players are in packs, including Doué, Estevao, Thompson, and more. But, the main thing everyone’s hyped for is easily Icon Swaps, which have finally returned to FC/FIFA in Season 5.
With the launch of this season, there are 10 tokens available so far with more coming at a further date. You can swap these tokens for juicy looking packs, great evolutions, and even a R9 card that required 19 tokens. The grind is already on and you can find the 10 tokens currently available in the Objectives menu.
New World Tour Silver Icons Available in Season 5
This season brought a lot of Silver French Icons to objectives as they were the winners. We finally have none other than Thierry Henry himself. You can unlock him by playing 40 matches with at least 6 French players in your squad, which is a long grind. But, it’s the best shot a lot of players have to use Thierry until FUTTIES, so Arsenal fans especially will think that grind is worth it. And he’s not the only one available.
Season 5 brings Silver Icon versions of so many French legends, including Desailly, Blanc, Petit, Thuram, Vieira, and more. It’s not just French Icons either. As part of the 1998 France World Cup theme, Michael Owen got a Silver Icon card as well since he was the Young Player of The Tournament. That World Cup’s top scorer, Davor Šuker also got one.
Grinding these cards was a fun side-activity each season. And with all the meta French-legends available this season, the grind would have been more worth it than ever. But, EA are fully intent on never letting Silver Icons fit into evos after the Gullit fiasco in Season 4, so you can only use these Icons for the Silver Stars Live Event. Whether or not they’re still worth all the matches it takes to unlock them is up to you.
Season 5 Pass – Free and Paid Rewards
The free tier of the Season 5 Pass isn’t great. Earlier levels are just filler with fodder packs, stuff for Career Mode, and some useful Pro Clubs consumables if you play that mode. It’s not entirely disappointing though. There’s a great 89-Rated World Tour Simakan card with Anticipate+ available after you unlock 20k SP. You can also unlock a World Tour cosmetic evolution and a Rapid+ evolution, which is pretty useful.
The paid Season pass is way better than the free version this time around, with two whole TOTY Icons available. With 25k SP, you can unlock a 91-Rated TOTY Icon Desailly with Anticipate+ and Bruiser+. And there’s an even better TOTY Icon Petit card available after you get 30k SP, which has Intercept+ and Tiki Taka+. Speaking entirely about value, these two cards alone make up for the 500k cost of the paid pass in Season 5.
There’s also an Anticipate+ evo in this version that leads to some crazy chains with the Iconic Defender Glow Up evolution in Icon Swaps. Plus, you have a chance to make your 500k coins back with a tradeable 86+ x6 pack available in the premium pass.
Upcoming Content
Season 5 already has lots in store for players, and there’s more coming. So far, we’re confirmed to be getting Live Events based on the ’98 France theme. The main event for this season is a Completionist Cup that’ll start on March 5, 2026. Players will have to qualify for this event and complete objectives during it to get great packs like an 88+ x6 pack for winning the whole cup itself.
The team 2 of Future Stars is already in packs too. Lots of objectives and more themed players will be coming down the line too, including more SP so you can climb Season Pass levels and unlock rewards. Season 5 is off to a strong start with Icon Swaps. Even Future Stars has some good SBCs after so many overpriced ones during TOTY.
