The Last of Us 2 features multiple weapons that Ellie and Abby can find in the game. While most of them start a little weak, you can upgrade them through the workbenches that are scattered across the in-game world. However, finding these workbenches is a different thing.

All Ellie workbench locations in The Last Of Us Part 2
As Ellie, you can find at least one workbench in chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, and 10.
Chapter 1 (Jackson - Patrol)
The first workbench of the game is found in the back room of the library, while you’re out on patrol with Dina. This workbench is impossible to miss, since Dina forces you to try it out, blocking the door in the process.
Chapter 2 (Seattle Day 1 - Downtown, Capitol Hill, The Tunnels)
Chapter 2 has multiple workbenches. The first one is found inside the tent near the music shop. This is north of the domed synagogue, which you can reach by squeezing through a gate or crossing the outpost bridge.
The second workbench is in the Capitol Hill area. Reach the area that’s filled with WLF soldiers, and walk to the far left. You’ll find a gas station with a workbench inside. Just enter through the garage shop, and be careful of the extra soldiers that spawn.
Keep continuing forward in the same area until you reach the martial arts dojo. You’ll find yet another workbench here that you can use, though the area’s covered in tripwire, so that’s something to watch out for.
The final workbench of this chapter comes after defeating the soldiers and clickers in the glowing red tunnel. Climb a ladder after moving through some train cars, and the workbench will be in the room to your right.
Chapter 3 (Seattle Day 2 - Hillcrest, The Seraphites)
The first workbench in this chapter is in the Hillcrest area. Go inside the Rosemont store and crawl through the hole in the back. This will eventually lead you to the basement, where you’ll find a workbench to use.
This area will also eventually lead you to a bicycle shop that you enter by climbing a moving dumpster. There’s a workbench in this shop as well.
Seattle Day 2 - The Seraphites has two workbenches as well. The first one is when you find the path to Highway 5 blocked. Just enter the luxury apartment building to your left by crawling through an open window. Continue forward from here until you reach the building’s first floor, where you’ll find a workbench inside an apartment.
The final workbench is at the back of the pharmacy. This one’s pretty hard to miss as long as you check the place properly. Just crouch to enter the store and find the workbench.
Chapter 4 (Seattle Day 3 - Road to the Aquarium, The Flooded City)
On your way to the Aquarium with Jesse, you’ll have to break some glass to enter the convention center building. Check the back office in this area to find this chapter’s first workbench.
The second workbench is found after fighting the WLF members in the place with the building that’s under construction. Enter a building called Norkirk Cosmetics and climb to the second floor, past all of the mannequins, to find a workbench by some windows.
This chapter will have you use a boat to get around a flooded area. When you do, continue forward until Ellie has to restart the boat, just in front of the Seattle Sleep Warehouse. Enter a smaller warehouse in the area to find the workbench you’re looking for.
The final workbench in this chapter is on the second floor of the mandatory arcade area, just near the back wall.
Chapter 10 (Santa Barbara - Pushing Inland, The Resort)
You’ll next get to play as Ellie after some time. When you do, you’ll find yourself in Santa Barbara. After defeating all of the enemies inside the mansion, head to the kitchen on the first floor to find the first workbench of this chapter.
Continue forward until you have to kill some Rattlers. When you do, enter the shack to find the final workbench of the game.
All Abby workbench locations in The Last Of Us Part 2
Abby has workbenches in chapters 6, 7, and 8.
Chapter 6 (Seattle - On Foot, The Forward Base, Hostile Territory, The Forest, The Coast)
This chapter has a whopping six workbenches for you to find. The first one is inside the warehouse that you enter through the roof. Just go left instead of climbing the first staircase in this area to find Abby’s first workbench.
The second workbench is in the Forward Base. This safe area has multiple tents that you can explore, and one belonging to soldiers has a workbench that you’re free to use.
The chapter will lead you to fight some Scars outside the Martyr’s Gate. After you do, climb to the top of the buildings where the snipers were posted, and crawl through a narrow path to find a workbench in the back of an empty Seraphite camp.
After fighting against the Seraphite with the large hammer, retrieve your pack and find the next workbench in the left corner of the garage that you enter next.
The final workbench of this chapter is in The Coast. To find this one, enter a warehouse by walking to a blue cargo container and climbing a fence. The workbench will be inside the warehouse, just past the white door.
Chapter 7 (Seattle Day 2 - The Shortcut, Ground Zero)
While taking the shortcut in this chapter, enter a store called Interbay Wireless to find a workbench in the corner.
Moving forward, you’ll have to face some Seraphite near some buildings. Climb the building using the ladder. Then, climb the second ladder to the Seraphite shrine. The workbench you’re looking for is in the next room.
In the back room area, you’ll have to power up a generator to open multiple locked rooms. Check the back wall when turning on the generator to find the final workbench of this chapter.
Chapter 8 (Seattle Day 3 - The Island, The Escape)
After Isaac’s plans are revealed, you’ll move up a road to reach two homes. Enter the first one on the left to find a workbench in the backroom.
The final workbench in Abby’s part of the story is found while you’re escaping from some WLF soldiers. You’ll have to boost Lev up to a ladder at one point, after which you can climb into a building through a window to find Abby’s last workbench.
Conclusion
Workbenches are key in The Last of Us if you’re hoping to get powerful enough to take down tough enemies. Of course, the lack of parts means that you’ll have to decide which weapons you want to prioritize, and that may require you to buy a The Last of Us Part 2 Steam key.
