Vessel of Hatred Official Introduction Video Released

At Gamescom 2024 Europe's annual gaming festival in Cologne, Germany, on August 21, Blizzard Entertainment revealed its award-winning 2023-2024 hottest multiplayer online game, Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred, an exciting new detail on the mercenary mechanics, gives a brief introduction to the four mercenaries and their skills, talents, and backgrounds. And yesterday, the fifth season 1.5.1 update, we can instantly unlock the new Wings of the Damned Cosmetic whenever you preorder the Deluxe or Ultimate Edition of the Vessel of Hatred expansion on Steam or other platforms.

Vessel of Hatred New Region: Nahantu

Nahantu is a land of contrasts, where the oppressive darkness of ancient jungles gives way to the expansive and awe-inspiring vistas of vast plains. As the last uncharted region in this expansion, Nahantu is not only a new frontier for players but also a return to the roots of the Diablo series, echoing familiar themes while introducing fresh elements to the franchise.

The region is divided into six distinct areas, each with its unique identity and thematic focus. Four of these areas are dominated by jungles. These jungles offer both opportunities and challenges for us. The remaining two areas, characterized by the stark beauty of Red Rock Canyons, demand us to choose our strategies and tactics. In short, players will experience a different style and gameplay than the previous regions.

Challenge the "Dark Citadel" co-op endgame, work together to overcome difficulties, and reap rich rewards. Strike out bravely and never be left alone! Use the party Finder to find new companions from all over the sanctuary and start a new journey together. You'll see many changes to Sanctuary, and possibly an update to the progress system in the future that will radically change the experience of the Diablo IV upgrade process. You can also take one or two mercenaries into the new world adventure.

Vessel of Hatred New Systems: Mercenaries

From the release of Vessel of Hatred, players can recruit mercenaries to fight alongside them as battle partners. Mercenaries have specialized skill trees and abilities that can be used to match the player's preferred playstyle - wizards with more aggressive gameplay can opt for Rahir's defensive support, while those running a more balanced build may prefer Aldkin and his fire-eating abilities.

Mercenaries

The four mercenaries are Rahir the shield-bearer, Variana the Berserker, Aldkin the Son of the Curse, and Subo the drunken archer. Here's what we know about each Diablo IV mercenary so far:

Rahir the Shield-bearer

Rahir can use a massive shield to block enemy attacks and provide defensive support. Rahir has the Range barrier ability, which reduces damage to herself and nearby players and increases armor and defense through toughness. This mercenary should be a top choice for players who use a more aggressive configuration and benefit from extra survivability

Rahir the Shield-bearer

Variana the Berserker

Variana is a butcher, a former cannibal, and now a berserker who specializes in close combat. This bloodthirsty fighter has a kill streak that increases her strength as she kills enemies, while her grip draws them into melee range. Variana seems to be a well-rounded mercenary who can adapt well to most play styles

Tubo the drunken archer

This bounty hunter provides long-range AoE support, firing archery showers at enemies from a distance. Drunken archers provide support to the player by marking targets and then providing boosts when killed. Tubo's gameplay style is somewhere between Variana and Aldkin and should work well with most versions.

Aldkin the Son of the Curse

This semi-demonic creature can transform and deal devastating AoE flame damage to enemies, setting the battlefield on fire. For survivable players and those who can offer some help in AoE encounters, Aldkin could be a strong mercenary choice.

Recruit Your Mercenaries

Players can recruit both primary and secondary mercenaries in the mercenary lair. The main mercenary is the main combat partner that automatically joins your party during single-player play. Secondary mercenaries, also known as reinforcements, provide supplementary support in specific situations, called opportunities. Opportunity can consist of different situations, such as the player using a certain skill or being controlled. This adds extra depth to gameplay style customization, allowing the player to prioritize different abilities or equipment choices based on their primary and secondary mercenaries.

Mercenaries can join the team to assist. Players can hire them in the single-player game, or choose to stay as backup in an emergency. The player can choose one of the unlocked mercenaries to use as an enforcer. Select them as your main companions by hiring mercenaries, and they will join the party during single-player play and use their chosen skill sets to fight. You can choose another unlocked mercenary in the mercenary hideout to support you in battle. Support will appear in battle, casting a skill to assist you in battle. Each mercenary has a skill that can be used as a backup, as you cast your chosen skill, or in a specific battle situation.

New Relational System

The longer you interact with a particular mercenary, the more powerful they become. The rewards of the relationship system will include passive effects, such as increasing the speed at which players can acquire Pale Marks (currencies used in trade agreements and barter transactions).

Bartering

Pale Marks are used within the Den to trade for a wide variety of items. Rank up each Mercenary to expand the potential offerings available within the Den.
