Weapons are one of the most important aspects of any combat game. In Crimson Desert, your starting equipment is designed to get you through the tutorial. However, once you step into the rolling hills of Hernand or the treacherous peaks of the White Wastes, Kliff’s basic iron blade simply won’t do the job. Best Early Game Weapons and Their Stats
To understand what makes a weapon better than the other, here are some basics about a weapon’s features.
- Base Attack (ATK): This is the raw damage per hit.
- Swing Speed (SPD): This determines how fast you can chain combos. 1H swords usually hover around 0.6s, while Greatswords can be slower.
- Reach (Studs): This is the physical length of the weapon’s hitbox.
- Abyss Slots: You can equip this to add elemental or tactical effects to your weapon.
Here is a list of the best weapons that can make the early gameplay easy and fun:
Weapon Name | Type | Base Attack | Key Feature | Location |
Hwando | 2H Sword | 19 | High Crit Rate | Lioncrest Manor (Locked Room) |
Warspike Spear | Spear | 13 | Superior Reach | Greymane Shrine (Island SE) |
Hollow Visage | 1H Sword | 15 | High Atk Speed | Dawn Cave (Behind Waterfall) |
Legionary’s Gladius | 1H Sword | 12 | Combo Multiplier | Three Saint's Falls Statue |
Darkbringer | Greatsword | 22 | Ator's Orb (Projectiles) | White Wastes Sanctuary |
The Hwando
Hailing from a foreign eastern land the Hwando is an amazing early find in the game. It is a 1H sword with high critical hit rates and fluid movement. It has a base ATK of 19 and swing speed of 0.65s. The Hwando has a unique trait called Stamina Siphon. In this, every critical hit restores a small portion of your stamina bar.
Location
To find this, you need to head to Lioncrest Manor in North Hernand. Note that the front gate is guarded by high-level knights. So, you can look for a vine-covered trellis by circling around the western wall. Then, climb to the second floor and enter through the window. You will find a Locked Storeroom Key on a desk which can be used on the heavy oak door at the end of the hall. In the corner, the Hwando will be inside a velvet-lined chest.
Warspike Spear
With spears receiving a hidden buff to their stagger values, the Warspike Spear is your best bet and the premier choice for crowd control. With base ATK of 13 and 12.5 studs reach, you can fight a boss from a safe distance. It has an Evasive Counter. This triggers an automatic thrust with every perfectly timed retreat slash while holding a guard stance.
Location
Locate the Greymane Shrine on the small, unnamed island southeast of the Hernand docks. You will probably need a horse that can swim or a small skiff. Note that the spear is not inside the shrine. You will find the weapon leaning against the reddish roof tiles on the right side of the structure. You can use your grapple to reach the rafters, and you can pluck it right from there.
Darkbringer
The Darkbringer is the ultimate heavy-hitter in Crimson Desert. It is a massive, obsidian-hewn Greatsword that comes pre-loaded with the Ator’s Orb Abyss Gear. This weapon has a Base ATK of 22. Since it is a greatsword, its swing speed is as slow as 1.35s. However, one single swing can hit stronger than most weapons. With the Ator's Orb,it can fire a dark projectile during a heavy forward slash. The projectile adds a ranged component that Greatswords usually lack and lets you to pull enemies or finish off low-HP targets from a safe distance.
Location
Head northwest of Pailune into the White Wastes. For this, you will need cold-resistance food or the Thick Furs armor set to survive the journey. Look for a massive dragon skeleton lying in a circular pit near the Sanctuary entrance. The Darkbringer is planted firmly between the skeleton’s front teeth.
Hollow Visage
The Hollow Visage is a one-handed sword designed for Dodge-Counter builds. This is the fastest 1H sword in the early game with a swing speed of 0.55s and base ATK of 15. It also has a unique trait called Ghost Frame that increases the active invincibility frames on your dodge by 15%. If you love perfect dodges, the Hollow Visage is the best one for you.
Location
Head to the Dawn Cave southwest of the starting village. Inside, you will find a large underground lake with a waterfall pouring from the ceiling. Swim behind the waterfall and you will find a small, dry alcove. It contains skeletal remains holding the sword.
Legionary’s Gladius
The Legionary’s Gladius is the most reliable tool in your arsenal if you prefer a classic shield playstyle. It has a Combo Multiplier, that is, for every consecutive hit, the damage of the next hit is increased by 2%. This effect stacks up to 20%. While its base damage looks as low as 12, the Gladius shines in long encounters. When paired with a Sturdy Buckler, you can block, counter, and build your multiplier. This way, you can hit as hard as a Greatsword but with twice the speed.
Location
Travel to the Three Saints’ Falls region. There, you will find a massive statue of a fallen general at the base of the middle waterfall. After solving a simple pressure-plate puzzle, you can open the compartment in the statue’s pedestal and find the weapon inside.
Conclusion
There are a number of best weapons in the Crimson Desert. With the LootBar game key, you can play this game and get access to all these weapons. If you want to be safe, go for the Warspike Spear. If you want to be fast, look for the Hollow Visage. And if you want to be the strongest, start the freezing journey for the Darkbringer. If you can locate these weapons, you will be unstoppable!
