CODM x Pop Team Epic Collaboration: New AK47 Skin, Event Rewards & More

We haven’t seen many weird anime collabs on CODM, so when the teaser for CODM x Pop Team Epic came out everyone was surely surprised.

If you’re a fan of the anime, you defiantly know how wild it can get. The show is extremely fun, some might say it’s their favorite comedy anime, the whole show is about two characters Popuko and Pipimi, and these guys love goofying around. Now somehow that energy is making its way into CODM.

The teaser trailer confirmed the collaboration goes live on March 18, and while it doesn’t look like a massive update, there are still a few interesting rewards coming with it.

Event Start Date

The first real hint came through a short teaser posted by CODM. It didn’t show much gameplay, but the message was clear enough.

Something “Epic” was about to pop into the game.

Players quickly connected the dots, and shortly after that, more details started circulating. The teaser showed that on March 18, then collab will drop with a new update.

Most collab events sit usually between or at the start/end to attract more players to the new content.

This one looks like it will follow that same pattern.

Release date for the collab

AK47 - Pops Popuko

Probably the most talked-about reward so far is the AK47 – Pops Popuko skin.

What makes it interesting isn’t just the design. It’s the fact that the weapon might actually be free.

Early information suggests players can unlock the AK47 by completing simple event tasks. These are usually things like playing matches, earning eliminations, or finishing daily missions.

Basically the kind of stuff you’re already doing while playing the game.

The weapon itself leans heavily into the anime style. Instead of military camo or metallic textures, the AK47 is covered with a graffiti-style Popuko illustration.

It looks less like a standard weapon blueprint and more like someone sprayed anime street art across the gun.

Which honestly fits the Pop Team Epic vibe perfectly.

Hor-Pipi Pipimi Weapon Skin

Popuko isn’t showing up alone either.

Another weapon skin called Hor-Pipi Pipimi is expected to appear as part of the collaboration. This one features Pipimi, the other half of the show’s chaotic duo.

Just like the AK47 skin, the design follows the same graffiti decal style. Instead of complicated model changes, the weapon focuses on bold cartoon artwork.

The colors on this are bright and fun, having Pipimi on the gun in the center with thick brush strokes, makes this feel designed by a mangaka.

The goal for these was definitely to go for a more fun vibe rather than something realistic or serious.

And honestly, they kind of are.

Pop Team Epic Rewards in DMZ

The crossover doesn’t stop at weapon skins.

Players will also be able to unlock Pop Team Epic-themed collectibles through DMZ rewards during the event.

These types of rewards are usually smaller cosmetic items. Think things like:

  • calling cards
  • stickers
  • sprays or weapon charms

These aren’t as flashy as the weapon skins but still are a good memento to have to remember this event by. The show is hella chaotic so, maybe expect some weird stuff to get added to the collab, we’ll have to wait and see when this drops with the update.

So don’t be surprised if a few ridiculous items show up there.

Why This Crossover Feels Different

CODM has done collaborations before, but most of them follow a similar pattern. They usually involve serious action franchises or characters that fit the military theme.

Pop Team Epic is the complete opposite of that.

The anime is basically a meme factory. Half the scenes are exaggerated reaction faces or random parody jokes that make no sense until you see them in context.

So, seeing those characters appear on military weapons is… weird.

But that weirdness is also what makes the event interesting.

Instead of another tactical skin set, players get something that looks totally different from the usual cosmetic releases.

Final Thoughts

The CODM x Pop Team Epic collaboration isn’t the biggest event the game has ever done, but it definitely stands out.

With the event launching March 18, players should soon be able to grab several anime-themed rewards, including the Pops Popuko AK47 skin and the Hor-Pipi Pipimi weapon blueprint.

More so, we’ll get some collectibles with the DMZ mode as rewards for this event.

This collab will be a treat for fans of both franchises.

And for everyone else, it’s at least a chance to unlock a weapon skin that looks very different from the usual military designs.
