The Band Is In Town and the Loot Is Actually Worth It

sound of clash

I'll be honest when I first saw the MEAT SHIELD theme for April, I assumed this was going to be one of those medal events where the headline reward is something I'd never actually use. A decoration, maybe. A magic item I already have six of. Then I looked at what the Rocket Backpack actually does to the Dragon Duke and my reaction changed pretty quickly. A piece of Epic Equipment that launches him in a straight line across the entire base, dealing damage to everything in his path while being completely untargetable and free-to-play players earn exactly enough Metal Medals to buy it. That's not a trap. That's actually a good event.

The Sound of Clash Medal Event runs April 8 to April 29, 2026, available to Town Hall 6 and above. You collect Spiky Bracelets by destroying marked buildings in multiplayer attacks, those Bracelets progress your Event Track, and the track converts into Metal Medals you spend in the Trader Shop. The math works out cleanly for F2P players and even better if you grab the Event Pass. Before anything else though if you need Gems to sort out your Builders or pick up a Gold Pass this season, LootBar has competitive rates worth checking before you buy in-game.

How to Farm Spiky Bracelets as Fast as Possible

The core mechanic is simple but there are a few things most players miss that meaningfully speed up their Bracelet farming:

SOC

You don't need to win the battle to collect Bracelets this is the most important thing to understand about farming efficiently. The three buildings marked with bracelet icons are your only targets. Destroy them and quit if you want. The Bracelets count. This means you can run extremely fast, cheap armies specifically designed to reach and destroy three specific buildings rather than clearing the whole base, which cuts your attack time in half or better.

The bracelet amount per battle increases as the event progresses Each attack starts with around 200 Spiky Bracelets at the beginning of the event. That amount ramps up over time, meaning attacks later in the event are worth more per battle. Don't panic if early progress feels slow. The rate accelerates.

Collect from your Mech Bull every single day without fail The Mech Bull Event Building generates Spiky Bracelets passively and the amount it generates increases daily. Missing even one collection is permanently lost progress there's no catch-up mechanic for passive generation. Tap the building every time you open the game.

Revenge attacks and ranked attacks both count Any multiplayer battle format earns Bracelets from the marked buildings. Revenge attacks in particular are worth running even if you wouldn't normally bother, because they cost nothing extra and the three marked buildings are just as likely to be easy targets in a revenge base as any other.

Time your bonus track push toward the end The bonus track kicks in after the 16,000 Bracelet main track is complete, giving 240 extra Metal Medals for another 7,000 Bracelets. If you're aiming for the full F2P medal cap of 3,300 medals, completing the bonus track is mandatory. Start pushing it before the final week so you're not scrambling at the end.

What Determines How Many Metal Medals You Actually Earn

Not all players end up with the same medal count even if they play the same amount. These are the factors that control your final medal total:

F2P cap is 3,300 Metal Medals This is the maximum available to players without the Event Pass. It's also exactly 200 medals more than the Rocket Backpack costs, which means completing the full track gives you just enough for the headliner and a small buffer. Don't waste medals on lower-priority items before you've claimed the Rocket Backpack.

Event Pass adds 5,500 Metal Medals Bringing the total to 8,800 medals for pass holders. This opens up all the returning Epic Equipment in the shop and lets you buy Ores for upgrading equipment you already have. If you play multiple events per season and plan to buy the Gold Pass anyway, the Event Pass stacks well with that investment.

Boost window for Rocket Backpack Official announcement confirms the Rocket Backpack is boosted to the highest level allowed by your Town Hall for the first 5 days of the event. This is your window to test the equipment at full power without having leveled it yourself. Run the Showstopper Challenge during this window to get a feel for how the ability plays before committing medals to it.

Trader Shop stays open 48 hours after the event ends You have until May 1 at 08:00 UTC to spend remaining medals even after April 29. Do not wait until the very end to make purchases, but this buffer means one late session won't cost you everything if life gets in the way during the final days.

Rocket Backpack — The Dragon Duke's First Epic Equipment

What It Actually Does

rockeet backpack

When you activate the Dragon Duke's ability with the Rocket Backpack equipped, he launches in a straight line from his current position toward the center of the base and all the way to the opposite edge, dealing flame damage to every building and troop along his path. The entire duration of the ability makes him completely untargetable defenses stop attacking him, he doesn't trigger traps or Clan Castle troops, and Hidden Teslas are the one exception (they reveal but don't damage him during the dash). His Pet, if one is active, gets temporarily removed and reappears next to him after the ability ends.

The movement speed during the dash is 120 equivalent to 15 tiles per second based on Fandom wiki data. That's fast enough to cross the entire base in under two seconds. The practical implication is that this ability is specifically effective at destroying centrally placed high-value defenses: Eagle Artillery, Monolith, Spell Towers, and the Clan Castle. Content creators have already highlighted that pairing the Rocket Backpack activation with two Earthquake Spells on the Dragon Duke's path reliably eliminates most key defenses in a single pass, which sets up clean three-star attacks.

Who Should Prioritize It

Any account running Dragon Duke as part of their attack strategy should make the Rocket Backpack their first and only Metal Medal purchase until it's secured. It costs exactly 3,100 medals and free players earn exactly 3,300 from completing the full event track the margin is 200 medals. Spend anything else first and you're gambling with your ability to afford the headliner. Dragon Duke was released March 1, 2026, and this is his first Epic Equipment release. Missing it means waiting for a future event or spending Gems in the shop later, which will cost significantly more.

One Thing to Watch Out For

According to the Fandom wiki, there's a position bug: activating the Rocket Backpack when the Dragon Duke is standing exactly at the center of the base causes him to move freely and prevents defenses from targeting him. This is a known bug, not an intentional mechanic, and will almost certainly be patched. Don't build strategies around it it'll be fixed.

Returning Epic Equipment — Worth Buying or Skip?

SOC trade

Frozen Arrow

Frozen Arrow is back in the Trader Shop and it's one of the better returning options in this event. It's an Archer Queen equipment that applies a freeze effect on hit, which is genuinely useful in Queen Walk setups where you need the Queen to survive longer in compartments. If you're running Queen Walk as your primary war attack and you don't already have Frozen Arrow leveled, this event is a reasonable place to pick it up with leftover medals after the Rocket Backpack is secured.

Electro Boots

Electro Boots for the Barbarian King. Solid piece of equipment, consistently used in endgame TH15+ attacks where the King needs to cover ground quickly and deal sustained damage. If your King build is currently sitting on common equipment and you haven't had a chance to pick up the Boots in a previous event, the Medal Shop is your opportunity. Lower priority than Rocket Backpack for anyone with Dragon Duke, but a real upgrade for King-focused attack strategies.

Dark Crown, Heroic Torch, Snake Bracelet

These three are returning options that are more situational than the above. Dark Crown and Heroic Torch see use in specific Grand Warden and Royal Champion setups rather than broad meta builds. Snake Bracelet is useful but not a high-priority purchase over the top two. If you have the Event Pass and medals to spare after buying the Rocket Backpack and any returning Epic you specifically need, these are worth considering. If you're F2P with exactly 3,300 medals and the Rocket Backpack costs 3,100, you have 200 medals left not enough for another Epic Equipment, so your remaining medals go toward Ores or magic items based on what your account actually needs.

Party Wizard — The Temporary Troop

Party_Wizard

The Party Wizard unlocks through the Event Track at 2,500 Spiky Bracelets and sticks around as a deployable troop for the duration of the event. It's a temporary unit you can't keep it after April 29 but it's worth using during the event window while it's available. It brings chaos to attacks in a way that regular Wizards don't, and there's no reason not to include it when you already have it unlocked from progression.

That said: don't reorganize your entire attack strategy around a temporary troop. Use it, have fun with it, and move on when the event ends. The permanent rewards are what matter here.

Metal Medal Spending Guide — Priority Order

trader

Spend in this exact order. Don't deviate until the Rocket Backpack is secured:

Frozen Arrow (returning Epic)

Varies

Electro Boots (returning Epic)

Varies

Barbarian King players — solid equipment for endgame content, worth picking up if you don't have it

Ores (Glowy / Starry)

Varies

Event Pass holders with leftover medals after Rocket Backpack — upgrade existing Epic Equipment

Magic Items (Books / Potions)

Varies

Lower priority for F2P — Rocket Backpack first, magic items only if medals remain

Decorations / Cosmetics

Varies

Last priority — get the Mech Bull free from the event track instead of spending medals on cosmetics

Conclusion

The Sound of Clash Medal Event is one of the cleaner free-to-play event designs Supercell has done in a while. The math is honest: complete the full track, earn exactly enough Metal Medals to claim the best item in the shop. No artificial shortfall, no last-minute surprise cost. The Rocket Backpack is genuinely strong, Dragon Duke got interesting fast after his March release, and the 48-hour Trader Shop buffer after the event ends is a nice quality-of-life touch for players who can't play on a rigid daily schedule.

Farm Bracelets by destroying marked buildings fast and leaving, collect your Mech Bull passive generation daily without fail, push the bonus track before the final week, and put the Rocket Backpack in your cart the moment you hit 3,100 medals. Everything else is secondary.

For Gems to sort your Builders or pick up the Gold Pass this season, the Clash of Clans top up page on LootBar is where I top up mine consistently better rates than in-game. Good luck out there, Chief. MEAT SHIELD would want you to get that equipment.
