Level 16 Arrives
The new level cap — Level 16 — is officially coming to Clash Royale. For now, Level 16 will apply only to Trophy Road and Clan Wars, while Ranked Mode remains capped at Level 15 until March 2026. This gives players several months to strengthen their decks before the new competitive threshold begins.
Although not everyone asked for another level increase, this update aims to simplify progression and reduce confusion across multiple modes.
Elite Wild Cards Are Being Removed
One of the most dramatic shifts is the complete removal of Elite Wild Cards.
Players will return to the classic card-based upgrade system, using duplicates to level up — a move that simplifies the economy and makes upgrades far cheaper.
Gold costs for higher levels are being significantly reduced:
Level 12: 35,000 → 25,000 Gold
Level 13: 75,000 → 40,000 Gold
Level 14: 100,000 → 60,000 Gold
If you’ve got cards ready to level up, wait until after the update to save a large chunk of gold.
Cheaper Upgrade Costs Across All Rarities
Supercell is also slashing the card requirements for most rarities:
Common Cards: Cheaper from Level 13+
Rare Cards: Cheaper from Level 11+
Epic Cards: Cheaper from Level 11+
Legendary Cards: Cheaper from Level 13+
Champions: Cheaper from Level 13+
This smoother progression curve helps both mid- and late-game players reach higher levels faster, without feeling paywalled or bottlenecked by card shortages.
Changes to Books, Coins, and Elite Wild Cards
All existing special items are being converted or replaced as part of this overhaul.
Elite Wild Cards → Gems
Elite Wild Cards will be converted into Gems. While the exact exchange rate isn’t confirmed yet, Supercell has promised fair compensation rather than a minimal payout.
Books of Cards → Wild Cards or Gems
Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary Books will turn into their respective Wild Cards.
The Book of Books will convert into Gems, with value scaling to your King Tower level — up to 6,000 Gems per book for Level 15 players.
Example (Level 15 King Tower):
7,500 Common cards
1,400 Rare cards
180 Epic cards
20 Legendary cards
Or, for a Book of Books: 6,000 Gems
Magic Coins → Gold
Magic Coins will be converted into Gold, equivalent to your current King Tower’s upgrade cost (up to 120,000 Gold at higher levels).
New Currency: Crystals
The update also introduces a brand-new collectible — Crystals.
You’ll earn Crystals by converting overflow copies of maxed-out cards, and they’ll be used to unlock cosmetic rewards such as exclusive emotes and potentially tower skins in the future.
More earning methods will be added later, making Crystals a fresh, long-term progression goal for collectors and customization fans.
New Arenas and Ranked Adjustments
The update expands the ladder experience with four new Arenas between 10,000 and 12,000 trophies.
Entry requirements for Ranked Mode will now depend on your current Arena, and these thresholds will increase gradually each season.
During this transition, Seasonal Arenas will be temporarily disabled while the new system is implemented.

Wait is a better choice. Upgrade and card costs are dropping dramatically after the patch. Spending resources now means wasting gold and cards. By waiting, you’ll enjoy reduced costs and receive full compensation for all existing elite wild cards, books, and magic coins. So before you hit that upgrade button, wait for the patch to arrive.
