What is Black Myth: Wukong Chapter 4’s secret area?

Purple Cloud Mountain guide black myth wukong

Reaching the secret area of Black Myth: Wukong’s fourth chapter requires you to fight the Venom Daoist twice to access the secret area. If you’ve played the game by getting it from a platform such as Lootbar, then you’ll know that most secret areas also require you to face an optional boss.

As for what the secret area has, there are two minibosses and one main boss. The area itself is fairly large, with enemies that inflict poison on you. Two of these bosses are completely missable, which means that you won’t be able to fight them at all if you don’t face them before taking down the area’s main boss.

There’s no need to worry, because we’re here to guide you on everything to do after you reach the Purple Cloud Mountain.

How to enter Black Myth: Wukong’s Purple Cloud Mountain

The first thing you want to do is to find the Venom Daoist. To do this, you want to first go to the Upper Hollow shrine. From here, go up to the platform with spider sacs, and drop down from the nearby ledge to reach a tunnel. Continue forward here to eventually reach a scaffolding that leads to Middle Hollow, which is where you would normally want to go to continue with the game’s story.

Instead of this, however, you want to go to the cliffside area. Here, you’ll find the Pool of Shattered Jade shrine and a meditation spot. Continue past the shrine to reach a yard filled with spider sacs. Just hit the largest one in the center to trigger the fight against the Venom Daoist.

While the Venom Daoist is fast, he shouldn’t be too tough to defeat, especially since his spinning moves are easy to counter. The Venom Daoist will escape when you beat him, promising to show you his real power the next time you two battle.

With this done, you now want to continue with the game’s story until you reach the Temple of Yellow Flowers. Turn around after triggering the Court of Illumination shrine, and make your way inside the tunnel in front of you. Continue forward until you find a downward slope that leads to a dark cave. This is where you’ll face off against the Venom Daoist for the second time.

This boss is much tougher this time, even having a second phase. The cave is also somewhat dark, so it’s recommended to stay near the edges to give you that extra bit of visibility. After you defeat the Venom Daoist the second time, you’ll be able to access a drawing that’ll be etched on the cavern walls to enter this chapter’s secret area.

Black Myth: Wukong Purple Cloud Mountain guide

The Purple Cloud Mountain is a large area that hides three bosses. Since two of these bosses are missable, you want to start by going after the first boss, which is the Scorprionlord.

The Scorpionlord boss fight

Move forward to find a snake guai crying. The widower will tell you that she was forced out of her village by the Scorpionlord, who was leading some insect guai. After collecting the loot around her, move forward and across the bridge to the right.

Continue on the path to reach the Valley of Blooms Shrine. For the simplest path forward, cross the bridge ahead and turn right. Continue following the path until another way opens up to the left. Keep going there until you see an archway. The archway will lead to the Bounds of Deity’s Abode shrine. All that’s left to do now is to climb the stairs next to the shrine and approach the wooden house to start the Scorpionlord fight.

This is a fairly tough fight because of the Scorpionlord’s insane damage. You’ll want to ensure you have plenty of armor to help you survive hits. The longer the fight goes, the more damage he will deal to you. Take extra care when this boss’s tail starts to glow white, because that’ll cause him to launch into a series of insane tail swipes.

Your rewards will include a Stained Jade Gourd, Sky-Piercing Horn, and a Deathstinger Material to complete the Insect Armor Set.

Daoist Mi boss fight

The next boss you want to face is Daoist Mi. You can reach this boss by going north from the Valley of Blooms Shrine. Keep following the path forward instead of lingering toward the left, where you fought The Scorpionlord, to reach the Petalfall Hamlet shrine. Head up the path here and climb some stairs to see a special Sword Daoist playing a flute.

This non-hostile NPC will ask you to seek an Amourworm egg and return it to him. Fortunately, you can easily get this item from any Daoist. Return this item to this NPC, and he’ll turn hostile, kicking off a boss fight against him.

The Daoist Mi may be a boss, but he’s basically just a stronger version of the Sword Daoists that you’ve been fighting so far. He doesn’t have too much power, and while he has two faces, you can just use the Rock Solid spell to deflect all of his attacks. The second phase will turn this boss into a Worm Practitioner, following most of the attack patterns of the base enemy of the same type.

Defeat this boss to get the Violet Hail Transformation Spell. This spell will let you transform into a Worm Practitioner and become immune to poison while transformed.

The Duskveil boss fight

This secret area’s final boss is the Duskveil. This is a fairly tough fight, but it isn’t as tough as the Scorpionlord. To reach this boss, you just have to follow the path forward, following the Petalfall Village. Reach the peak of the mountain to reach a large area where you’ll face the Duskveil.

The Duskveil is an undead creature that looks akin to an overgrown rooster. It starts the fight with its health at 75% health, but it naturally has a second phase for you to face. In its first phase, you primarily want to watch out for this boss’s slamming attacks and the sneaky jab that it does after hiding its left arm behind its body. The best time to attack this boss is after it does its charging attack. This is because it stumbles to the ground after completing it.

Deal enough damage to trigger the second phase, where a blood moon pierces the sky. The good news is that the Duskveil mostly has the same attacks that you must watch out for. A major exception is when it pulls out a sword from its mouth, resulting in a handful of creative combo attacks that you should avoid instead of trying to parry.

Defeat this boss, and the snake woman from the start of the area will appear to thank you. You’ll also get the Weaver’s Needle Vessel, as well as a Double-Combed Rooster Blood Soak, Kun Steel, and The Duskveil's Horn.

Conclusion

While other chapters have secret areas that are more attractive or larger than this one, Chapter 4’s Purple Cloud Mountain has some of the toughest fights. The good news is that this is likely what most players want, considering many gamers buy a Black Myth: Wukong Steam key to face off against powerful bosses in the first place.
