Shield Knight Overview
Shield Knight is your traditional knight that wields a sword and a shield who excels in close range combat. She also wears radiant lightforged armor, boasting exceptional defense and self healing. She is easy to play with plenty of raw HP but suffers a bit of poor mobility and loses effectiveness in Downtime. The Shield Knight can be built in two specs:
Recovery Specs | Shield Specs |
The Recovery specs uses Valor Bash as the special attack and focuses more towards sustaining through self healing. It is much easier to use than the Shield spec because the Shield spec requires more precise positioning. | The Shield spec is a tank build where the playstyle is to be involved as the front line to stack Lightforged Barrier with the skills. Its shield spec also has some decent damage-dealing capabilities. |
Mechanics
Here are the important class mechanics you should know to improve your mastery over the Shield Knight class:
- Lightforged Barrier – The Lightforged barrier is the core defensive mechanic for the Shield Spec where each stack increases your Max HP by 2% (max 10 stacks). It loses one stack for every incoming damage.
- Vanguard Strike grants 2 stacks
- Sacred Blade grants 5 stacks
- Zeal Crusade consumes up to 8 stacks and grants 1 stack per second.
- Shield – Shield Knight’s shield is used to block incoming attacks and has the block limit equal to the character’s max HP. Remember that it does not block all damage.
- Holy Sigils – Holy Sigils are one of the key power sources for using the skills. You have a maximum of 5 Sigils and one sigil requires 10 seconds to regenerate.
- Photon Energy – The photon energy gained from Holy Sigil based skills and Ultimate move. Currently, Judgment is the only skill that consumes Photon energy. The energy bar is capped at 100.
