Lies of P is a dark, gritty Soulslike gauntlet that doesn't hold your hand. The survival depends on one thing: your build. You will face challenges like puppet monsters in rain-soaked streets and poison-filled swamps that drain your life. In case you don’t have the right weapons or stats, you are just going to have a tough time. If you just grabbed your Lies of P Steam key from LootBar to activate the game and are looking at the character screen, wondering what to do. Well, don’t sweat it. We have broken down the best builds to help you beat Geppetto’s nightmare.
Do you know what the best and coolest thing about Lies of P is? The Weapon Assembly System. You can take the handle off one weapon and stick it on the blade of another to create something totally new. But wait! You can’t just mash random things together and hope it works; to really crush the hard bosses, you need a plan. You need to match your damage stat, which will be Motivity, Technique or Advance, with the right gear.
Below, we are going to look at the best setups for every type of player, whether you want to be a tank or a fast ninja.
The Basics: Picking Your Lane
Before we begin talking about the end-game gear, you need to start right. You can reset your stats later but your starting class matters for the first few hours.
- Path of the Sweeper: Pick this if you want to be strong and tough. It gives you high Motivity (Strength).
- Path of the Bastard: Pick this if you want to be fast. It gives you high Technique (Dexterity) and stamina.
- Path of the Cricket: This is the balanced one. Good if you are not sure yet.
The Heavy Hitter: Motivity Build
If your playstyle is “I want to hit the enemy once really hard so they don’t get back up”, then you need a Motivity build. The motivity weapons are big, heavy and slow but they deal huge damage. The main focus here is to stagger enemies. That means, you hit them until their health bar turns white. Then, you knock them down for a massive “Fatal Attack”.
Best Weapon: Holy Sword of the Ark
This is a boss weapon, and an absolute beast. You can get it at an early stage by trading a boss soul. It looks like a giant sword but it has a special trick. If you use the handle ability, the handle extends and turns into a long spear or glaive.
- Why it rocks: When it is extended, it uses less stamina to swing. However, it still hits like a truck. Also, the range is long, so you can poke enemies before they even get close to you.
Alternative Option
Bone-Cutting Sawblade + Exploding Pickaxe Handle (This is a custom combo that players love.)
- Why it rocks: The Pickaxe handle has a move set that lets you smash downwards over and over. It is simple, effective, and breaks enemy guards very fast.
How to Play: Be patient. You are slow, so don't get greedy. Wait for the enemy to miss, then punish them with a heavy attack. Use the Aegis Legion Arm (the shield arm). You can hold up the shield while you attack. This makes you nearly invincible against regular enemies.
The Speed Demon: Technique Build
Technique means dexterity. This creates focus on speed, critical hits, and avoiding damage instead of taking hits. If you prefer dodging and parrying attacks in place of blocking, then this is perfect for you. These weapons might not stagger bosses as quickly as heavier ones, but you can land five hits while a Motivity user lands just one.
Best Weapon: Two Dragons Sword
You get this from the Green Monster boss later in the game. It is a katana, and it is probably the flashiest weapon in the entire game.
- Why it rocks: The heavy attack has a built-in parry. If you hold the attack button and let go at the moment an enemy hits you, it will block their hit and quickly slice through them.
Alternative Option
Tyrant Murderer’s Dagger Blade + City Longspear Handle. This is a funny combo that works surprisingly well as you put a tiny dagger blade on a long spear handle.
- Why it rocks: The dagger blade has a high critical hit rate (extra damage). The spear handle lets you attack from far away and is very fast. You can just poke enemies to death safely from a distance.
How to Play: Stay moving. You want to be annoying. Jump in, hit them three times, and dodge out. Use the Puppet String Legion Arm. This shoots a hook that pulls you toward the enemy for a jumping attack. It’s great for closing the gap and keeping the pressure on.
The Smart Player: Advance Build
A lot of new players ignore the Advance stat because it sounds complicated. It is basically the "Elemental" build. This uses Fire, Electric Blitz and Acid. After entering the LootBar game key and starting it, the game works like Rock-Paper-Scissors. If you use the right element, the game becomes "Easy Mode."
- Puppets are weak to Electricity.
- Carcasses (the zombie monsters) are weak to Fire.
- Humans are weak to Acid.
Best Setup: The Elemental Trio: Unlike the other builds, you can't just use one weapon. You need to switch weapons depending on where you are.
- For Puppets: Circular Electric Chainsaw Blade + Electric Coil Stick Handle. The chainsaw hits multiple times in one swing. This builds up the electric shock status really fast, which stuns puppets.
- For Zombies: Salamander Dagger Blade + Acidic Crystal Spear Handle. This makes a long-range fire spear. Zombies hate fire. You can poke them and watch them burn to death.
- For Humans: Acidic Crystal Spear. Acid breaks weapons. If you fight a human boss and use acid, their weapon will eventually break, and they will deal way less damage to you.
How to Play: This is a thinking man's build. Look at what you are fighting and equip the right tool. Use the Pandemonium Legion Arm, which sprays acid on the floor. You can bait enemies into walking into the acid while you poke them with your spear.
Must-Have Upgrades for Everyone
No matter what build you pick, you need to upgrade your "P-Organ" (the skill tree) correctly. Do not waste your Quartz on useless stuff. Get these three things first:
- Link Dodge: This lets you roll twice in a row. Without this, some bosses will hit you every time because one roll isn't enough to get away.
- Increase Stagger Duration: Gives you more time to capitalize on enemy staggers and land Fatal Attacks. This upgrade is especially powerful against bosses.
- Increase Pulse Cells: This gives you more healing potions. More healing is always better than more damage.
Final Thoughts
Lies of P gives you a ton of ways to play, and honestly, there is no "wrong" choice as long as you focus on your stats. If you try to level up everything at once, you will be weak. Pick a lane! Do you want the satisfaction of smashing things with the Motivity build? Do you want to feel like a ninja with the Technique build? Or do you want to outsmart your enemies with the Advance build?
Whatever you choose, stick to it and upgrade your favorite weapon as high as it will go. Put on the heaviest armor you can wear without being slow, and learn the parry timings. Good luck out there in Krat, you are going to need it!
