Arc Raiders Shrouded Sky Update 1.17.0: Everything Added and Adjusted

Arc Raiders was released just a few months ago, but Embark Studios has already released several updates to address bugs and introduce new elements in the game. These range from new maps, snowy weather, and multiple cosmetics. New updates typically also introduce quests or projects that can give out even more rewards. The Shrouded Sky update is no different, and players can claim exclusive rewards for completing the Weather Monitor System project it adds. The main additions may be the two new Arc enemy types, the hurricane weather, and balancing changes to weapons.

New features and additions

Here’s everything that the Arc Raiders Shrouded Sky update has added to the game.

New Arc enemy types

Comet and Firefly in Arc Raiders.

The Shrouded Sky update introduced Firefly Arc and Comet Arc, two new enemies that are linked to the Weather Monitoring System project. The Firefly Arc is a drone that players need to kill during the project, as it gives Firefly Burners as loot. The Comet Arc is an armored explosive enemy that gives Comet Igniter as loot, which is used in the project.

Dam Battlegrounds map update

The update doesn’t add a new map, but it adds a new area in Dam Battlegrounds. This new area offers players a high-loot zone and also has puzzles that make it unique. An addition to a map’s interior is a first for an Arc Raiders’ update, as the previous update added a weather change, but maps remained the same.

Weather Monitoring System

Shrouded Sky’s seasonal project, Weather Monitoring System, is the latest quest that has been added to Arc Raiders. The project is similar to the Candleberry project of Cold Snap update, as it also requires players collect item unlock rewards. The Weather Monitor System project is multi-stage, and completing each stage unlocks a set of rewards. Completing the project fully allows players to claim even more exclusive rewards. So if you don’t already have the game, you can get it from LootBar

Hurricane map condition

The new windy weather in Arc Raiders.

The new map condition is similar to the one introduced in the previous Cold Snap update, but instead of snow, players must face harsh, windy weather. Similar to how snow could cause health loss, this new map condition also damages the shield. The hurricane weather causes debris to fly because of strong winds, which limits visibility and makes it harder to find the items that are required for the Weather Monitoring System project. Combat also becomes harder as players find it harder to see and retaliate against enemies.

Free Raider Deck and cosmetics

The Surgeon cosmetic in Arc Raiders.

The Shrouded Sky introduces a Surgeon Raider Deck, allowing players to claim cosmetics by progressing. Players must complete various tasks to advance and unlock these themed cosmetics. Arc Raiders now also supports facial hair customization, which was unavailable in the game previously. There is a free stubble, and then players can unlock more beard styles.

Gameplay changes and adjustments

The Shrouded Sky update has also introduced several changes, particularly balancing adjustments to many weapons.

Weapon balancing

Below are the confirmed weapons that have received a tune-up to balance them. These adjustments are implemented in both PvE and PvP matches.

Stitcher

Damage has been lowered, and headshot efficiency has been reduced to help tone down the weapon’s dominance against others.

Kettle

Damage dealt has been reduced to bring it on par with other weapons.

Venator

Damage and headshot multiplier have been reduced to prevent the weapon from becoming too overpowered.

Aphelion

Reload speed and stability have been buffed to make the weapon more usable.

Jupiter

Equip speed and weapon swap have been made faster.

Feat and progression adjustments

Players can now reroll feats up to three times a day for free, allowing them to experiment without having to spend currency.  An expedition catch-up system has also been introduced, allowing players who missed previous expeditions to claim unclaimed points or rewards.

Quality-of-life improvements

Quest objectives now pop up on the screen, ensuring that players don’t miss important notifications. Inventory management, party formation, and social interactions menus have been made more stable. There are more notable cues for interaction, so players know when actions are necessary.

Bug fixes

Players had reported some animation glitches, like getting stuck in ladders and falling through maps, which this update fixes. Some actions also caused lag and crashes, which have also been addressed. Weapons will also play correct sounds, and visual lighting has also been revamped. If you were thinking about getting the game, these bug fixes make it the right time to get the Arc Raiders Steam key.

Conclusion

The Shrouded Sky update brings a welcome change of things in the form of hurricane weather. Embark Studios has already announced that Arc Raiders will be getting two more updates, once a month, until April. So players can expect to see more new enemies and weather conditions in the game. Bug fixes and more quality of life adjustments are also expected in the future, and until then, players can enjoy the Shrouded Sky update.
