Arc Raiders Riven Tides leaks: New map, enemies, and more

Headwinds and Shrouded Sky were the first two monthly Arc Raiders updates that introduced new enemies, Player Project Systems, and many bug fixes. The March update, Flashpoint, will bring similar content to the game. However, Riven Tides is the update fans are eagerly waiting for, as it’ll introduce a new playable map to Arc Raiders. While Flashpoint is yet to go live, the Riven Tides map has already been leaked. Here’s everything we know about the Riven Tides map and other upcoming additions in the final update of the Escalation roadmap.

What we know about the leaked Riven Tides map

Official Riven Tides concept art.

Leaks suggest the new map will feature a coastal area, a significant deviation from the other maps' more wasteland-like vibe. The city may have a circular layout that is filled with rooftops and bridges, which would change both traveling and combat. Some streets also appear to be partially submerged, and Riven Tides could introduce water as an environmental hazard in Arc Raiders. There have been several map conditions added in previous updates that have changed combat and survivability, and if added, the risk of drowning can be an interesting addition.

A rocket is also seen submerged in one area, with it likely being a high-risk loot zone or a boss location. Embark Studios could introduce water gameplay, allowing players to dive to find more treasures. There are also oil rigs visible in the ocean, suggesting there will be more locations players can visit in the sea, potentially linked to objectives. Fans have used the official concept art to speculate about the map, but data miners have also uncovered similar unused areas in the code, strengthening the case that the leak may be closer to the real location. The update’s name, “Riven Tides,” also hints at a beach locale. If you want to be one of the first to check out a coastal location in  Arc Raiders but don’t have the game, you can get it from LootBar.

When will Riven Tides be released?

Riven Tides is the fourth and final update in Arc Raiders’ Escalation roadmap, and it will likely follow the same release pattern as past patches. Headwinds and Shrouded Sky were released at the end of January and February. The upcoming Flashpoint update also has a leaked date of March 25. If Embark follows the same pattern, Riven Tides will be released in late April.

The new map is the most unique addition in the four Escalation roadmap updates, which explains why fans are waiting for Riven Tides to release. Fans will need to remain patient, as Flashpoint will be released this month, and then there is one more month before Riven Tides goes live.

Other additions in Riven Tides

Several additions that have become the norm in the Escalation Arc Raiders updates will also be seen in Riven Tides.

New Arc enemies

New Arc enemy types in Shrouded Sky Arc Raiders update.

All of the previous updates have introduced new Arc enemies to the game, and Riven Tides will follow suit. The roadmap revealed that the enemies will get stronger as the updates progress, and the Riven Tides enemy types are expected to be the most dangerous yet. It's unknown what type of enemies will be added, but if the map is really a coastal location, the Arcs may complement the area.

Player Project System

Each new Arc Raiders update expands the Player Project System, which is a mini-quest tasking players with collecting and donating items. This is a unique way to make players travel the world, find new items, and encourage them to adapt to the new map conditions. The objectives reward players plenty, and they can easily get their hands on exclusive cosmetics just by completing the event.

New map conditions

The Escalation updates have also added environmental hazards that players must adapt to, as they affect both traveling and combat. The snow map condition, for instance, lessens visibility, making it harder for players to see if they’re walking into a trap. Players can also perish if they spend too much time outside and start freezing. The Riven Tides update will introduce a similar map condition, with some speculations suggesting that it may be related to water. This makes sense if the map is a coastal location, as water-related hazards would be more appropriate.

Conclusion

The Riven Tides Arc Raiders update is still more than a month away, but leaks have already started appearing. If the leaks are correct, then players will get their first coastal map, filled with submerged buildings and a sea area. Other additions are expected to be similar to previous updates, such as new enemies and map conditions. The exact changes and new elements will be seen once the update goes live. Players who have been waiting to get the game should buy the Arc Raiders Steam key, so they can check out Riven Tides as soon as the update drops.
