Examination Room Safe – Rhodes Hill Care Center East Wing

This is usually the first safe most players run into, and it’s easy to overlook if you’re rushing. Head to the first floor of the East Wing in the Care Center. The safe sits inside the Examination Room. There’s also a Waiting Room safe right nearby that’s already pried open and gives you 2 Antique Coins for free – grab those while you’re there.

Examination Room Safe File

The clue is on the second floor, in the locker area just past the Lead Researcher’s Office. That same spot is where you pick up the Level 1 ID Wristband and first meet the Chunk boss, so you’ll naturally pass it.

  • Normal mode code: Right 30, Left 10, Right 50.

Inside you’ll find 3 Antique Coins. I used every one of these for Grace’s rewards in the Parlor later, and they really add up once you collect over a dozen total.

Bar & Lounge Safe – Rhodes Hill Care Center West Wing

Up on the second floor, in the Bar & Lounge area, you’ll spot the next safe tucked against the wall. It’s not hard to reach once you have basic access to the West Wing.

The clue sits on a desk inside the West Wing 2F Office. Make sure to read every document you find – some clues stay saved even if you switch characters.

  • Normal mode code: Left 10, Right 80, Left 30.

You get another 3 Antique Coins here. By the time I opened both Care Center coin safes I already felt less stressed about the next boss fight.

Basement Inspection Chamber Safe – Care Center Basement

This one is missable if you’re not careful. After you get the Level 3 ID Wristband and Grace heads to the basement, the game switches to Leon for a bit. Right after the Chunk boss battle, look for a cabinet with a warped door in the Inspection Chamber. Pry it open with the Hatchet.

The clue comes from a document in the Attic Storage (easy to miss on your first run). Read it as Leon and the info carries over to Grace. Once Grace leaves the basement you can’t go back, so double-check everything.

  • Normal mode code: Right 60, Left 40, Right 80.

Rewards: 8 Handgun Ammo plus the Raccoon Roundup Map for Rhodes Hill. That map shows every Mr. Raccoon collectible in the Care Center – super useful if you’re hunting for the full set.

Sterilization Chamber Safe – ARK Facility

Later in the campaign you reach the ARK, and things get a lot creepier. From the Lab Entrance hub (save point and item box are here), go through the Sterilization Chamber. Watch out for the half-dozen Lickers lurking around.

Sterilization Chamber Safe – ARK Facility

The clue is inside a cargo pod near the Antechamber steps. After you grab key items from the Cleanroom and Chemical Storage, head back to the Lobby, down the steps to the Anteroom, and into Bioweapon Repository 05. The big cargo containers hold documents and even a Hip Pouch upgrade.

  • Normal mode code: Right 10, Left 90, Right 20.

Inside: 1 Med Injector, 1 Molotov Cocktail, and 15 Handgun Ammo. I saved that Molotov for a nasty Licker ambush right after and it saved my skin.

Monitor Control Room Safe – ARK Facility

Still inside the ARK, from the Lab Entrance Lobby you can reach the Monitor Control Room. The safe is on a bench against the back wall, just outside the door to the Archives.

Clue is in another cargo pod along the right-hand side of Bioweapon Repository 05. Same area as the previous safe, so clear the Lickers first and explore thoroughly.

  • Normal mode code: Left 50, Right 60, Left 80.

Rewards: 1 Med Injector, 1 Bottle of Acid, and 1 Empty Bottle. That Acid bottle came in clutch for a puzzle later on.

All Insanity Mode Safe Codes at a Glance

Once you beat the campaign, Insanity Mode flips the combinations and ramps up everything else. Here they are together so you don’t have to flip back and forth:

RE9 Safe Codes

  • Examination Room: Left 50, Right 30, Left 90
  • Bar & Lounge: Right 20, Left 50, Right 30
  • Basement Inspection Chamber: Left 70, Right 50, Left 20
  • Sterilization Chamber: Left 80, Right 50, Left 0
  • Monitor Control Room: Right 20, Left 0, Right 70

The item placements also change, enemies hit harder, and every bullet counts. Having these codes ready made my second run feel prepared instead of panicked.

Opening all five locked safes unlocks the “No Safe Is Safe” achievement or trophy. I got it on my first playthrough and it felt like a real accomplishment after hours of hunting clues.
