How does the Battle Machine Ruler work in Clash Royale Merge Tactics?

Battle Machine Ruler in Merge Tactics

Battle Machine enters Merge Tactics with one of the highest decision ceilings the mode has seen so far. This Ruler trades board freedom for control through buildings.

Its core ability, Building Master, creates a random building in rounds one, three, five, and eight in the match.

At the same time, Battle Machine permanently reduces your maximum team size by one. Since the normal cap is six, you effectively play most of the match with five slots. The early preset limits initially hide this downside, but the mid-game quickly becomes tighter and more demanding.

Every building that spawns is locked to its star level for the rest of the match with no upgrades or resets. If the placement is bad, you feel it for the rest of the game, which is unlike the base Clash Royale mode, especially for players with leveled cards thanks to LootBar. The Ruler works best for the following setups.

  • Sustained damage compositions

  • Backline focused control boards

  • Pressure-based attrition drafts

How have building mechanics changed in Clash Royale Merge Tactics Season 3?

Buildings now reset health every round, cannot be sold, cannot be upgraded, and once placed, they cannot be moved after the first battle. Here’s how their basic behavior works.

  • Full health reset every round

  • No selling once placed

  • No star upgrades ever

  • They do not count toward team size

  • They do not add to the end-of-round Ruler damage

There is one crucial placement trick. You can reposition a building once when you acquire it. If you bench it immediately instead of placing it, you can delay locking its final position. Scaling also follows a different curve.

  • Health increases rapidly with each star level

  • Damage scales at one point six times per level instead of doubling

Buildings only come from mystery orbs, and they vanish after a single battle cycle. That keeps them from becoming automatic win buttons despite their power.

Which new buildings were added to the pool in Clash Royale Merge Tactics Season 3?

Inferno Tower in Merge Tactics

Besides behaviour, this update also reworks the building lineup for the season. The following buildings were added to the mix.

  • Tesla operates as a close-range control tool. It only activates when enemies approach, and at 4 stars, it reaches 6400 health with 344 DPS.

  • X Bow functions as a long-range execution piece. With an eight-tile range, it charges and deletes the lowest health target first. At 4 stars, its damage output passes 2400 DPS.

  • Inferno Tower focuses on ramping damage at close range. Mortar targets from deep positioning and always fires at the farthest enemy. At 4 stars, it nearly hits 1000 damage per shot.

  • Lastly, Elixir Collector does not deal damage at all. Instead, it passively generates resources. At 4 stars, it produces one extra Elixir every 3 seconds.

Which troops were added and removed in Clash Royale Merge Tactics Season 3?

Three new troops are introduced in the December update.

  • Mini P.E.K.K.A costs two Elixir and brings 625 health with 135 DPS. It carries the P.E.K.K.A and Brutalist Traits and spikes early fights through self-sustained pressure.

  • Royal Giant also costs two Elixir with 1170 health and 63 DPS. It runs Giant and Ranger Traits and works best as a building shield or Mortar bait.

  • Monk sits at five Elixir with 1625 health and 97 DPS. With Ace and Superstar Traits, it layers reflection and healing into repeated ability hits.

At the same time, six troops were rotated out of the pool to remove cheap area damage and defensive stability.

  • Archer

  • Knight

  • Bomber

  • Baby Dragon

  • Electro Wizard

  • Giant Skeleton.

Which new traits are shaping the meta in Clash Royale Merge Tactics Season 3?

PEKKA in Merge Tactics

Four new Traits now define the backbone of Season 3 identity.

The Giant Trait applies to Royal Giant and Electro Giant, with two units active, receiving 40% less damage.

The P.E.K.K.A Trait applies to Mini P.E.K.K.A and P.E.K.K.A with two units, gaining a 30% bonus damage and healing 30% of max health on takedown

The Brutalist Trait applies to Mini P.E.K.K.A Valkyrie Goblin Machine and Skeleton King with two units gaining 30% hit speed and targets losing 20% max health after four marks, and with four units, hit speed increases to 60% and max health loss doubles.

The Superstar Trait applies to Musketeer, Electro Giant Witch, and Monk with a combat start charge and a 50% chance to recast. After using two units, start at one-third gauge, and four units start at two-thirds.

To balance things out, Supercell removed five traits, including Avenger, Electric, Fire, Juggernaut, and Mage. This shift clearly prioritizes sustain and tempo over simple burst stacking.

Which old traits changed in Merge Tactics?

As for some old traits, they were reclassified as follows.

  • Electro Giant moved from Electric and Avenger into Giant and Superstar.

  • P.E.K.K.A shifted from Ace and Avenger into P.E.K.K.A and Brawler

  • Valkyrie, Skeleton King, and Goblin Machine all shifted from Juggernaut into Brutalist

  • Witch and Musketeer moved from Avenger and Blaster into Superstar

  • Princess moved from Ranger into Blaster

  • Wizard moved from Fire and Mage into Clan and Blaster

  • Archer Queen moved from Avenger to Ranger

If your old compositions suddenly feel nonfunctional, these changes are the reason.

Conclusion

This wraps up every major change in Clash Royale’s third season. While some more minor changes are to be expected as the month continues, the tweaks that December brought are more than enough to shift the mode’s meta. As the game continues to evolve, it’s recommended to buy a Clash Royale top up or two any time you find yourself needing that power boost.
