What is the Cage of Yesteryear in Identity V?
Before anything, it’s crucial to establish what exactly the Cage of Yesteryear is. It’s an upcoming storyline update that will be dropping in Identity V on November 27 alongside Season 40. It’ll be a continuation of the previous chapter, Ashes of Memory, which came all the way back in 2023 alongside Season 26. Who is Queen Bee in Identity V?
The biggest surprise in the Cage of Yesteryear trailer was that it would feature Queen Bee, who is the hunter identity of the Entomologist. She’ll be the 33rd hunter to be added to the game, and her difficulty level is currently unknown.
As for this upcoming character’s lore, Melly Plinius was previously the maid of Joshua Plinius, who eventually fell in love and married her. The two eventually became unhappy with their marriage and separated through the church. At one point, Melly was stung by a swarm of bees and consumed by venom, apparently because of her former husband. Melly survived and saw a transformation, with Joshua being found dead in his research lab later, thanks to a rare kind of bee venom.
It was already suspected that Melly had something to do with Joshua’s death when her survivor identity came out. Now, there’s a high chance that players will get more insight into Queen Bee’s story, including what actually led to her falling out with her husband.

The A-tier Dreaded Silhouette skin for the Journalist will be obtainable at the time of the version’s launch from the in–game store for Fragments/Echoes
The A-tier Strategize skin for the Lawyer will be in the 1,528th step of the Season 40 Logic Path
The A-tier ONCE skin for the Cowboy will be available for a limited time for Echoes only
The S-tier WHIMSY skin for the Sculptor will also be available for a limited time for Echoes
The Mechanic’s A-tier Truth & Inference skin will be available in the store for Echoes starting December 30. Naiad will get a Truth & Inference skin through a merch box, but it’s unknown when
The Prisoner’s A-tier E-sports skin and the Seer’s A-tier E-sports BLK skin will be permanently available beginning January 1

Season 40 Essence 1 will feature an S-tier skin for Queen Bee, and A-tier skins for the Novelist and the Prospector. This essence will kick off on November 27 alongside the version’s launch.
Season 40 Essence 2 will feature an S-tier skin for the First Officer, and A-tier skins for the Goatman and Mad Eyes. This essence will initiate on December 18, just 20 days after the first essence.

Then, there’s the Identity V x Conan Doyle Estate crossover’s return on November 6, which will feature an S-tier skin and an A-tier accessory for the Bloody Queen. All of the dedicated essence skins will also return, ensuring it’s an event to remember. Finally, there’s the Christmas event that will see the limited-time A-tier Christmas skin for the Soul Weaver, as well as the return of all previous Christmas skins for purchase. Players will also get the choice to choose between two free B-tier skins. Those skins are the Winter Chimes skin for the Puppeteer and the Christmas Concerto skin for the Composer.
