What Is the Jin Dynasty in the Game?
There is a new update in the Age of Empires IV. It is called Yue Fei's Legacy. With this update, you will get a new playable civilisation in the form of the Jin Dynasty. This civilisation is a makeup of the actual Jin Dynasty that existed from 1115 to 1234. The main location or the point of interest is going to be the northern Chinese territory. The main thing is, with the update, you get to play as the civilisation. So, if at all historical themes or games are your cup of tea, play the game now.
Unique Units of the Dynasty
In Age of Empires IV, your units will define your gameplay and how far you can go. The Jin Dynasty brings a decent amount of units to the table. But, of course, we will only truly understand how they are after the update is active. But here is what we know right now.
From the snapshots, the websites, and the wiki, we know that there will be seven unique units in the Jin Dynasty.
- Mounted Villager: With this unit, you have a high gather rate, and the mobility is good. But nothing is truly free, so there are some expensive ones, in terms of gold and food. These units will be useful towards Age 2 or 3.
- Iron Pagoda: These guys will be your main heavy hitters. They are the cavalry. This unit can deal splash damage. Being the cavalry, you have increased melee armour.
- Mohe Tribesman: This unit is very similar to the mounted archer. They have really good mobility, but lack when it comes to dealing damage.
- Bed Crossbow: You can only get this weapon in the Feudal Age. The Bed Crossbow acts like an anti-infantry siege weapon. It is good for defence.
- Emissary: This unit is the main advantage of the Jin Dynasty. With this unit, you can establish tributary states. The tributary states give you food and allow for better trade. With the tributary states, you get an increase in the Mounted Villager training limit. You also get the feature of bribing enemy soldiers.
- Zhanma Swordsman: You are missing tanks, and this unit is it. Compared to the other civilisations, this unit is a powerful infantry unit. So, they will be very good against cavalry.
- Eruptor: For your ranged unit, you get the Eruptor. This unit is a hand cannoneer. Similar to the archers, they don’t have good health but can deal a lot of damage.
Along with these units, you also get some overlap with the other civilisations. Firstly, there is the Traction Trebuchet, which is shared with the Mongols and Golden Horde. Then you have the Nest of Bees. You can also find them in the Chinese and Zhu Xi's Legacy.
Tech Tree
We will study the tech tree once the update is in the game. Like, what we know now is from the game’s official website.
The Best Build Order of the Jin Dynasty
With the update still coming up, we don’t have a tested build order. But, we can always get an efficient way on the basis of tech trees and similar civilisations in the Age of Empires IV. So, with the Jin Dynasty, you have to be fast and defensive. Your main aim is your economy. Focus on gathering with the Mounted Villagers. You can use the Iron Pagoda for shock damage. So after getting the LootBar game key, focus on he builds mentioned below to get most out of the game.
The Fast Castle Build
So, try to push to Age III. With the Castle Age, you get the Jin units and a good power spike. So, with the Dark Age, focus your vills on sheep. You can keep one to build a house or a mining camp. With your first official, use it to supervise food.
When you are at the Feudal Age, start building the Meditation Gardens or Barbican to get wood or gold. Here is where you can use Mounted Villagers. You can boost food or gold income by doing this. With the Castle Age, you have to transition to the Temple of the Sun. The temple will help you unlock the Iron Pagodas.
The 2 TC Feudal Boom Build
This build focuses on the economic side of things. But of course, you have to stay safe by focusing on troops, too. In the Dark Age, focus on getting 350 stone. The official by the food. When you get to the Feudal Age, drop a TC at resources like deer or gold. A resource that is valuable. Then use the Barbican to cover the TC, or it can be at the main base.
The main issue will mostly come when you are transitioning. So, try to get wood and food. You’ll need them for villager production. Just make sure that you use the higher gather rate of Mounted Villagers.
Core Strategies
Use the Emissary to the maximum. Start early and set up the Tributary States. With these states, get the far resources. So, this means securing food. In return, you get more Mounted Villagers. With the Defensive Emplacements, you have to build Mengan Mouke Emplacements. Place them on the choke points.
When it comes to the units, use the format.
- Iron Pagoda
- Zhanma Swordsman
- Bed Crossbow
Use the mobility of Mounted Villagers to the maximum. You can get resources faster. It will allow you to build forward outposts faster than other civilisations. For the taxes, keep the Imperial Official on production or collecting taxes. For the best result, place him by the sawmill or mining camp.
