7 Days to Die Traders & Quests Guide:Locations, Rewards & Best Tasks

In 7 Days to Die, your survival strategy will be dependent on how well you can interact with the traders. They act as NPC merchants that do more than buy and sell.

If you want a larger inventory of Duke's Casino Tokens, better equipment or continued advancement by moving into another biome of 7 Days to Die, you must understand how the trader system works so that you can leverage it to stay alive longer.

For players who are new to the game, acquire a 7 Days to Die Steam key from LootBar. You will have access to Version 1.0 of the game on PC, including all the new overhaul of the trader and quest progression system that is discussed in this guide.

7 Days to Die Traders and Quests

All Five Traders & Their Locations

In this game, you will play as one of the five traders. The traders can only be used in their assigned biomes, which in turn can only be accessed through each other in a specific order. You start out playing as Rekt, located in the Pine Forest. This first (R) trader is unlocked via a "Journey to Settlement" challenge. Ongoing completion of sufficient quests with each trader will eventually lead to unlocking the "Open Trade Routes" mission for that trader, providing you with access to the next trader in that sequence, which is also fixed (Rekt → Jen → Bob → Hugh → Joel).

Every single trader compound is made of unbreakable blocks and cannot be destroyed by either zombies or players. Thus, these compounds provide a completely reliable safe zone for either traders or their clients during daylight hours. Traders can only be accessed between 4:05 AM and 21:50 (in-game time), so always remember to plan your travel before it's too late at night.

Quest Types Explained

Every trader you speak to has up to six types of quest options that can be chosen from by selecting ''Do you have any jobs?''. The quest types feature different objectives, risks and potential rewards.

Buried Supplies:Buried Supply Quests require players to dig up the supply cache at a yellow circle on the map. This is the easiest quest type and can be completed very quickly.

Fetch: Running Fetch Quests requires players to run an errand at a marked POI, find a hidden White River Supply Courier Satchel located inside the POI and then return it to the trader.

Clear: Your mission objective is to kill all zombies in the specified points of interest (POIs). The objective seems simple enough but when your tier increases, the spawn rate of feral zombies and irradiated zombies cloning at POIs will create many spawns and add an aggressive spawn rate at each higher tier.

Fetch & Clear (Infested): This mission is a combined mission, meaning that you need to clear the entire POI and then recover the satchel from an infested supply crate within that POI.

Restore Power: You can expect to see an increase in nighttime missions that require you to activate generators at a specific point of interest (POI). Due to the speed and aggression of the night zombies, these are considered high risk; however, the rewards will be commensurate with the risk.

Open Trade Routes: In addition to activating generators, you can also complete open trade route missions every time you have a new trader available. These special missions will send you to a new biome and will unlock the next trader in that chain permanently.

Quest Tier System & Tier Points

There are six different tiers that you may complete through a total quest and it is by completing quests in one of those tiers that you gain access to rewards, as well as unlocking new traders. You earn Tier Points (TP) equal to the tier of the quest as you complete quests (i.e., a Tier 3 quest would award you with 3 TP).

Once you purchase the LootBar game key to access the game and complete the Quests at Tier 3 or below, you will have the opportunity to gain a large profit from the loot you receive at that level. Using the various types of loot received from Quests at Tier 4 through 6 can result in high-quality weapons, vehicle parts, and crafting schematics being found much faster than scavenging for them over an extended period of time.

Best Perks for Trader Efficiency

Two bonuses greatly improve and directly enhance trader interactions and should be a major focus for the player at the start of each game.

  • The Daring Adventurer: The Daring Adventurer perk increases the quality of your reward while adding 5% Duke's Casino Token bonuses on each completed quest (earning you two rewards instead of one) for each level of this perk. There is a doubling effect on every reward claimed after reaching level 5 on this perk.
  • Better Barter: The Better Barter perk decreases the amount paid for items while simultaneously increasing the amount received when selling your items. At level 5 on this perk, you will be able to purchase items at a maximum price reduction of 25%, meaning if you continually purchase items from Hugh or Joel, you can save a lot of money.

Conclusion

The trading and questing systems play a pivotal role in the structure of progression for 7 Days to Die, determining the pace of every game run. The beginning and end of this playing-style evolution can be tied directly to an individual trader and associated quests. You start with the easiest trader (Rekt) and progress through Fetch and Buried Supplies quests very quickly before reaching Tier 2-4 with an improved kit.

The priority is to unlock all five traders since they have a very different inventory for each trader; your primary goal is to invest in The Daring Adventurer, to not activate quest markers until you loot POIs fully (find all items) and that you have a team with you to help with tiers 5+. Play the system correctly and you'll find traders to be your most reliable & consistent route for obtaining top-tier gear.
